If I recall correctly, K154 was originally destined for SGR, but after sitting in Moe for ages upon an inspection it was deemed too hard to restore, so it was then sent to Newport Workshops.
Nice doco, also i dont know if this is true of not but i read on a railpage forum that vr was planning on making a light pacifc using a N class Boiler and rear trailing wheels and a D3 driving driving wheels and leading bogie
Well, its socials are all deleted or abandoned, and the project manager fucked off to the UK (presumably to never return) so, yeah, project’s dead. Also, the VGR deleted any mention of V499 from their website.

@@TrainBloke38 Yes it's true the V.r was planning on making lighter Pacific's, which where to be used on the Western line.

And some of its parts are stored at Maldon
