As a British Pakistani, I’m really impressed how you have dedicated your personal time to show the world the beautiful side of Pakistan. This welcomeness is consistent in majority of muslim countries. As it’s a reflection of our Islamic faith and culture. ❤
Callum only you can pull this off lad. Much respect to you for checking out these areas and getting the hospitality that you deserve 👌🏽 you should of popped into dixy’s in dadyal for a taste of home 😂
Callum - both Idrees and Raheem are local youTubers. They're famous in the AJK area as they do videos of our local villages and our traditions. A lot of us who are abroad view their content because it reminds us of back home. Unfortunately in AJK economic opportunity and the development of private industry is limited (as is the case in a lot of Pakistan outside of the big cities). This has meant for decades people from the region have had to move abroad for economic opportunity. Nearly every home has someone who's in the UK, Middle East or somewhere in Europe. The people abroad work long hours and send money back home. That's what drives the local economy. People who live there work hard too -take my own family as an example. They're farmers, they'll earn enough for the necessities in life - but the big ticket spending like weddings or god forbid medical bills for major illness - that kind of thing is funded largely by foreign money. Of course there are some well off people who don't need money from abroad - but the economic conditions of Pakistan don't offer the working class and the middle class the same quality of life as they might get in a developed country.
Yes very good explanation. I hope our Mirpur District and the rest of the provinces of Azad Kashmir grow their economy. I’m from Ratta by the way. I would like some foreign investment into our AJK as it’s sad seeing young people doing meagre jobs to earn a living. Some ideas can be manufacturing industries, tourist operators, and engineering companies. We seriously need the islamgarh-Kakra town bridge to be completed. I just don’t know what they’re playing at? It is seriously doing my head in.

I’ve never saw Mirpuris accept someone like they’ve accepted Callum. Mirpuris are generally known to be ethnocentric people in Pakistan and in Britain. I think the reason for why he is loved is because Mirpuris are simple hill people who appreciate realness and Callum is as real as it gets.

When Mangla dam was built Mirpuris not only went to the UK they also moved across Pakistan. When they were asked to live in villages with Punjabis they demanded separate villages. If you go to the villages outside many Punjabi cities you will find villages where only Mirpuris inhabit. Over 50 years later they speak and teach their children their own language. They do not marry the local Punjabis and either marry from the other Mirpuri villages in Punjab or from Mirpur itself. In the UK Mirpuris tend to live in predominantly Mirpuri neighbourhoods though this is slowly changing. Yes Mirpuris are hospitable people, more so than most Pakistanis but the way they have accepted Callum as their own is surprising given they see non-Mirpuri Pakistanis as outsiders.
@@paksarzamin6550 maybe it was your use of the word “ hilly areas “ that triggered me 🤣 Most of what you’ve written is true but third generation of Mirpuris are changing all that.
