    Thank you so much, I am an app developer and to me it's super useful to understand how the users of TalkBack are able to use the app to optimise for it.

      Hahaha. It took me a few minutes. I kept messing that up and even when I got it right I thought I messed up and the more I tried the worse it got. Lol.

    Hi Carrie. I love your vids. I upgraded to TalkBack 13.1. I am using TalkBack on a Chinese full Android watch. The issue I have is that I cannot swipe through my notification actions. I know this is unsupported so I would welcome your thoughts or a demo for you. 8:35

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  Год назад +1

      Hmm. I know that the capabilities on a watch are limited. I wonder what is not working for notifications? Does the talkback menu come up and can you access actions that way?

    Hey, great video and I just discovered your channel. I really like the way you presented this update.
    These are some of the things I was requesting for a very long time, especially the actions.
    It is also worth saying that Talkback’s braille keyboard supports many more languages now as well, another feature I was hoping for.
    By the way, I haven’t tried this one myself, but I think the reason you had trouble with the spellcheck reading control is that there was only one misspelled item, your hello. So, when you swiped once, it told you that hello was misspelled, but then it kept saying that there are no misspelled words because it doesn’t repeat that single item as you swipe up/down. I think the feedback given there is just a little misleading.
    I really like how they redesigned so many old TalkBack features that were hard to use or just annoying. They are doing some great work recently.

      It's been a long time coming! ha ha. So initially I assumed that it would be in actions but I saw there was a spell check in reading control so that threw me for a loop. That was slightly confusing. I hope that they figure that one out and I'm glad they have more braille languages. I hope that I can somehow get my hands on a Braille display so that I can show this. I also need to brush up on my Braille. Actually get better at it anyway. here's hoping that the next update will be just as Grand or even better!

    At first, listening to some of your videos, and I’m not trying to be nasty here, I just am giving my opinion. I think you could make your videos a lot more professional, if you just stuck to the subject and didn’t talk about yourself. Also for new users, it would be very helpful if you would describe exactly what you’re doing and slow the speed of your talk back down but, you are getting better than some of the few videos. I have listened to. I liked this one. 9:19

      Hi there! Thanks for your comment and I'm glad you like this video. Perhaps you were listening to some of my livestreams? I keep livestreams very loose and informal as they are more typically geared to engaging with the community. My edited videos like this one, I keep the focus on the topic and hand and insert my perspective on products, services, and whatever topic I'm speaking about when it is relevant. I hope that explains it. 😊

    Are these Pixel specific features, or are they available for all Android devices? I have a phone which uses the Google One OS.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  Год назад +2

      Most of the features will be available if you have Android 9 and later I believe. However, the multi-finger gestures require Android 12.

      I think Android One accessibility is slightly different to the mainstream Android versions.

    Hi there. I have a question because I have a pixel 6 Pro and I upgraded to Android 13. But my Split tap feature does not seem to be working. I tried it on the keyboard and it doesn't work properly. It seems to work like the old keyboard. Do you know what could be happening here? Great video by the way

      That's odd. Just to double check, did you make sure that the Android accessibility suite on the Google Play store is updated? Do you have the other features from TalkBack 13.1?

    So I have both the google talkback and samsung talkback on my s22 but, yeah, it took some doing. I did a walkthrough on that way back on the Blind Tech Guys but it was not my best work and I could probably do a lot better now. Anyway the samsung version is a little less laggy and doesn’t get confused by my double taps quite as much but that's the only better part I notice. I turn on the google one whenever I’m using my braille display and keep the samsung one on the rest of the time pretty much.

    • @carrieonaccessibility
      @carrieonaccessibility  Год назад +1

      Hmm. Interesting. I didn't know you could have both at the same time. I don't seem to see a big difference betwene ttalkback on my samsung versus talkback on my pixel for lag. That's interesting.

      @@carrieonaccessibility Yeah but that the google talkback on a samsung phone is a little laggy … not so bad but I notice it. And yeah you can have both, I’ve set the regular power/volume shortcut to turn on the google one and the two volume key shortcut for Samsung’s.

    Greetings,
    My Name is Phillip Daigle. I just bought my first Samsung Galaxy A13. I am Blind and an I Phone user. Now When I tap to open an app or anything on this Phone It Don't open. No matter how Hard I tap, then I will barely touch it and it will work. Is it Me, or is there an issue with this Phone. Thank you. P.

      I'm guessing you're using Talkback? If you're double tapping on the screen and it is not working, I wonder if it is the touch actuator having a problem. You may want to do an exchange and see if it is happening on another phone. You can also go to talkback settings, advanced, and turn off handle gestures with talkback and see if that changes your experience in any way. It could also be that the screen may have some debris or that a screen protector is interfering. It could really be a lot of different things, so I'm not really sure. Sorry about that. I hope you can get it working!

    There needs to be a way to access the access menu when you have TalkBack in select to speak enabled there are two separate things yet the settings screw with both of them. Why and how is this happening? But also not even close to each other in the settings menu even when in you have the little secret guy in the bottom right hand corner enabled select-to-speak is way better than TalkBack at Reading from a picture.
    Example of how the settings overlap if you turn up the speed for select the speak where it's fast enough TalkBack is excessively fast if you turn down talk back select to speak as much slower through the same setting how and why?
    Another issue if you have them both accessible through the little guy where the accessibility menu pops up then you have to pick from one or the other which makes it much more difficult.
    Opposed to being able do you have single click enabled click on the little guy and he automatically reads what's on the screen.
    Only functional solution I found is make a separate icon with accessibility as a floating icon widget whatever they're called on your home screen keep Talkback on for most things and then have that quick setting accessibility floating widget open where you can turn select to speak on or off. If everybody started using this they would be able to get through paragraphs extremely quickly regardless if they have an impairment.

      Alright, so there's a lot of things to unpack here!
      First, one option is to set Talkback for the hardware accessibility shortcut (volume up and down for 2-3 seconds). That's super handy that way you can still use the other accessibility feature by itself. Also, there's two ways to change speech rate. If you go into the text to speech options, there's a speech rate slider. That will adjust all text to speech speeds including select to speak. Then, you can adjust your talkback speed separately in the talkback settings or you can use the reading controls to adjust the talkback speech rate percentage. This percentage will be based on your text to speech rate.
      As for talkback and reading text from the image, you can turn on automatic "describe text on image". That can be helpful and soon Gemini should be able to give AI descriptions for images, too. :)

      What phone are you using right now? Also, there's a volume key shortcut. If you're using Samsung, there's also a volume up and side key accessibility shortcut. There's also the accessibility gesture and the accessibility buttons that you've mentioned - the floating one and the one that is on the navigation bar if you're using 3 button navigation.
