Small tip for Samsung users regarding apps with no dark theme (something similar may be possible with iOS using Shortcuts or whatever it's called, but I don't use Apple stuff). Using Modes and Routines create a routine that goes IF app opened (pick apps that don't support dark mode like Amazon and Uber), THEN invert colour.and make sure it's set to auto reverse. If you are a little more advanced and use GoodLock you can download the Routines+ module and set double and long presses of volume up or down to do whatever you want, and have specific apps open when you unlock with a specific fingerprint (I have Lookout on my right index and SeeingAI on my right middle, for example.)
I love listening to your sessions as they remind me of something I forgotten or they teach me something new to look into and I get excited again about having a fully productive day. Thank you for sharing and your time.
Be my AI can also read Twitter screenshots. You’ll have to click share and then more if your regular applications don’t pop up. If you keep flicking to the right, you will eventually hear Voiceover or talk back say describe with Be My Eyes. It will then take a picture of the Post and send it to the chat bot. It will tell you who was the original poster, what the picture says, and then you will be able to ask follow up questions down in the text field.
I have been playing with the new customization features on iOS 18 that just came out. I know that its not an app but I can now open seeing AI from my lockscreen when I have my O and M focus on which is god tier to me. Aside from that. I would put the script talk app, NFB newline (which is coming to android later this year) and the new safari. They added a new reader mode that can inverse the text color. You also now have the option to have siri read you the page without turning on your screen reader. For me, that is goals. Granted I can pass as sighted very easily.
That's neat! I did not know that the NFB newsline app would ever come to android. haha. My pharmacy doesn't work with script talk, but those are awesome ones! Thanks for sharing them. (I also love that Siri can now read pages aloud, too!)
@@carrieonaccessibility I am very new to newsline. So far, I am shocked. They have my local paper and I live in the middle of nowhere. As for scripttalk, yeah. I get that. The only pharmacy around me that has it is located half an hour away. I live in the middle of nowhere though so for me, that is actually a reasonable move. I see why a lot of people don't though. Most places dont seem to have it. Or don't seem interested in offering it. That is a whole tangent though... That aside. I'm a new viewer and am really enjoying you videos!
@@carrieonaccessibility That would be cool. I dont think the apple version lets you do that. Everything I have used required me to use voice over to read. Granted I have only been checking my local paper which Is from a small city.
I haven't used it much. I think it's been rebranded from what I remember and Android doesn't have it unfortunately, but I've heard very good things about it!
Lyft has been my go to rideshare as it is usually a little less expensive tban Uber where I live. Uber is useful when I need to take my cat to the vet because of the Uber Pet choice. But you are correct about text being cut off with larger fonts, so I reset font sisize and use a magnifying glass to make sure of the right selection. It would be nice if they had a more accessible interface.
hello, for navigation i use Blind Square each time i go anywhere , for out and around the building here yes believe it or not i use the standard compass app that comes on each iphone .. specially since there are no side walks to trail on , its all one big flat concrete area and having the compass tell me i am going east or north it actually helps me navigating outside , greets mak :)
how you can forget about the freedom which is only available and android i know but it is really special and specially for visually impaired its name is tech freedom
@@carrieonaccessibility Yeah, I'm talking about those book reading apps you said on the video that put a limit on available books. Unless I'm getting something wrong and it's actually physical books, I don't see why it needs to be limited other than an artificial barrier.
This is extremely helpful as the closest sighted person for a blind neighbor. I will be trying to introduce her to many of these tools. Thank you.
You are so welcome! i also would recommend looking through the accessibility settings menu!

Those are super neat shortcuts! I love it! I wish pixel had that. :/
The top 10 plus extra just really amuses me lol
Same, also the way she said starbucks lol
Yum. Starbucks!
But... it's just a bit of extra.. like sprinkles!
@@carrieonaccessibility Yes, and it's those sprinkles that amuse me so much lol

Yes, be my ai can do a lot. ;)
@@carrieonaccessibility that’s right. I replied back to your comments about the PlayStation.
One of my favorite apps is Big launcher\ big phone for seniors
Ooh! That's a good one. Big launcher is nice, too. :)
Aira, Be My Eyes, and WeZoom also Sullivan+
Ah, you like Sullivan+? That's neat!
I enjoy using bard. You’re right about the naraters though.
Yes! BARD is so great... I just wish we could sometimes get the commercial audiobooks on there... :P

What are you thinking of Voice Dream Reader? Lyft in my town is usually more affordable.
I haven't used it much. I think it's been rebranded from what I remember and Android doesn't have it unfortunately, but I've heard very good things about it!

Does Lyft have a dark mode? If it does, I might try it next time... I just haven't really set it up or anything. I might try it!
@@carrieonaccessibility it does have dark mode in Android. I don't know if it works on an iPhone the same way.
Nice video.👍🏻 Thank you for posting it. Enjoy your day .
Thank you!
Took notes, cut and pasted to notes in iphone. Particularly to ones that I don't have and the counter parts in Androids.
😊
Awesome! Glad it's helpful. :D

Thank you for how to read loud my kindle book. Assistive reader is great.
I'm so glad I could help!
Dear carrie, I'm youse all these app's, and all these app's very nice. ❤😊
Awesome! If you have any other ones, it would be great if you could share them, too. :D
Hey Carrie, I am wondering what do you use for video editing?
At the moment, I use Filmora, though it's not very accessible.. :(
For Canadians therea Ceela instead of bard I like to use it with dolphin easy reader
Ooh! That's neat! Ceela, I'll have to remember that.
Let’s go nice job
Thanks!
@@carrieonaccessibility you’re welcome
I just gave feedback to Google that Gemini should now recognise and describe human faces which all gpt powered tools do. Don't you think so?
That would definitely be nice. :)
It should all dark mode!
Definitely! Dark mode forever!
how you can forget about the freedom which is only available and android i know but it is really special and specially for visually impaired

Unfortunately, I don't have access to Tech Freedom. They require some type of identification and I don't want to do that.
Man I don't get how digital files can be "limited". It is seams like really skummy to do that.
