I was so afraid that the title of the video was gonna garner some negativity from people in Manila. I am quite biased but I like Cebu because it has a perfect balance between city life and rural. I think Each place has its own unique quirks, but I am more comfortable in Cebu. IT park is where most major Call center is in, and that is why its mostly booming during the night.
I'm originally from manila but I worked in cebu for 2 years during the pandemic and I had to go back to manila again because of the last typhoon in Cebu. I would definitely agree with you, Cebu is the perfect balance of the city and the island life as well. I'm actually planning to live there again in the future.
Thé reason I like Cebu (not only being a Cebuana) as it has everything. mountains, beaches, falls, modern or old types of places, foods, less traffic in a small island. Then most of all it is central hob to all islands of the Philippines. By the way that dilapidated pyramid was due the typhoon. You should go back to IT park as it’s where the Sugbo Mercado Garden bloc as where you can find all types of food from different food stands in the evening. Just inquire from anybody.

I grew up in Cebu and have been to Manila maybe 2-3 times in my life mainly to apply for tourist visas etc. I couldn’t stay in Manila for more than a day as it was too dirty and congested for my liking. Its good they now have BGC and Rockwell so it’s eased out some of the burden. The airport is still a turn off and so I never really dreamed of moving to Manila. While Cebu is lovely, its good for tourists as it’s got “Beach, City & Mountains” package. So much potential remains. But career opportunities still better in Manila. Lived in Singapore in 2008 and moved to Melbourne 2013. I am missing Cebu so much now and plan to take my partner and son with me soon! It will be a new perspective. Thank you for your videos, I’ve now learnt more about my country in the past few days than in the 16 years being away. Looking forward to your Boracay, El Nido and Siargao reactions. These are pretty much the well known tourist destinations. For more off the beaten tracks, try and reach out to Finn. He’s so good with less known islands most locals have not even explored! Well done and thanks Mergim! Also, you must get a scuba diving license. It would be a sin to be in the Phils and not explore the underwater treasure! We compete with the worlds best! 🤿
Each city has its own vibe. I visited Baguio City, Angeles City, Dagupan City, Tagaytay City, Lucena City, Naga City, Legazpi, Dumaguete, Cebu City, Iloilo City, Boracay, Palawan, and Puerto Galera in my youth but they've changed drastically over time as modernization and infrastructure development came about. The same phenomenon would be happening in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro, and other cities I haven't gone to. If you intend to explore lots of different places in the Philippines, take the time to stay about a month in each province or region with a major city that you can use as a base to explore the surrounding areas. Learn what the locals and the expats who've settled there like and what things those places are famous for.

Cebu has it all - modern city living, old city centers, historical sites, beaches, mountains, and close to everywhere in the Philippines via sea or air - you'll never get bored!
you should have visited IT Park anywhere from Wednesday to Sunday so that you could have also tried Sugbo Mercado... its just right across The Pyramid... Sugbo Mercado is only open from Wed-Sun
Cebu Used to be the Capital City in the Philippines, The oldest city and the first city in the Philippines that is why Cebu is never a province to any second city like manila!
Hi Mergim it is really nice to see my birth place, thanks to you. its been a decade i haven't seen and a lot of changes the city. watching you from Saudi Arabia.
ow!! I missed this video, although im one of your subscribers and I work in IT bro, anyways thanks for visiting and introduce what Cebu City has it offers a great modern city with an accessible tourist spot destination. Thank you and keep it up.
Simple answer, no, but i do agree the islands around Cebu is amazing... Long Answer is that you have not explored enough of Luzon to see how amazing it is - for an example, 1000 islands is just a bus ride away, so is la union (be it a lot longer), you also have the islands off quezon province then again you have Camarines Norte. Depending on how far you want to travel you have Baguio, Vigan City, Pagudpud, Donsol (whale sharks)... I have not been, but i have only heard good things about Batanes.. So many places to visit even outside of Luzon and Cebu... The Philippines has been blessed and one day i will retire in the PI
Did you get a chance to see the big Sugbo Mercado? Its the night market/ street food of all kinds near IT Park. You can challenge yourself to spend 300 pesos, and be satisfied on the amount of food you'll consume.

cebu city needs a lot of improvement, the city has become worse than manila in terms of urban decay since so much effort and money has been put in to develop manila, while cebu has been left to rot, but natural beauty wise cebu is way more beautiful than manila. development wise its very behind.
Manila sacrificed a lot being the capital of the country. Her beauty was almost wiped out just to accomodate those from the province who struggled for a better life. Supposing Cebu became the capital of the country, seas in eastern, western visayas and northern mindanao will be polluted too. You guys should respect her sacrifice.
@@archsword2446 this is what people failed to realize specially those people outside ncr. They think majority of people in manila are manilenos. Don't they know that most of the people in the slums are from the provinces. Metro manila is not a representation of tagalogs or of people in luzon it is a representation of all filipinos the heck even in buses or markets you kind can find someone who speaks cebuano or if not people from Visayas and mindanao. That's why normally if you meet someone in manila one of the common questions is "what is your province?" I have been working here for more than a decade and it is very rare you meet someone who doesn't have a province and is native of ncr. And someone maybe born here in ncr but more likely than not his parents just also went to manila for a better life. But to find someone who's native here like his grand parents are really from here. It would be very rare.
Metro Manila only has 636 km square kilometers. While cebu province has 4,944 km². But the population of ncr is around 13 million 5 million more than the total population of whole region 7. Take note not only of cebu province but whole region 7. If you think movement of people has nothing to do with this and this is just manilenos not practicing family planning , i don't know what to say. Imagine a place as small as 12 percent of cebu province but having 13 million population.
@@xpact83 A huge majority of ncr are people form luzon. Luzon have a bigger population than Visayas and Mindanao combined and have more poorer provinces, reason they congregate in metro manila to find work and the less fortunate people from visayas and mindanao can't afford to migrate to ncr while the people from luzon can just hitch a ride to ncr. TONDO is the biggest slum area even before 1950s its a Fact.

Baguio is better than anywhere tbh, that's like peak livin when you don't even need an air conditioner to sleep
@Love 🤓
@Love wow hahahaha, proud to be, akala mo naman mapapamangha mo kami diyan sa cebu mo 😄
@Love duh
@Love edi wow haha, poor visayan
Thank you for vlogging my city, I am born and raised in downtown Cebu, I've seen the changes through the years (I miss the 90s haha) it looks so beautiful here in your vlog while all i see are the noise and crowded streets everywhere. Thank you for making this, I forgot how beautiful my city is...👍😎 Btw u speak really good, i mean your accent
Cool vlog! Keep it up!
you stay safe! keep moving but always prioritize your health and safety.
I'm not a Cebuano but for me Cebu is the most beautiful city. Probably the best City in the Phils.
Thank you
I love cebu dont care about the traffic jam
Philippines is like a little world, every island represent as different country like you go to different island with different dialect and culture, different delicacies.

Manila for me because this is my home Cebu is beautiful but home is where my heart is.
Cebu is like Palawan, Boracay, Siargao and etc. they're all have beautiful Beaches in Manila some Historical places are there and it can educate you in the History of Philippines
imagine if there are colonial architectures in cebu, how beautiful the city's scenery is.
I like Cebu compared to Manila. More tourist spot and nice to take a vacation in that place. ❤️
Honestly I miss Manila life, fishes. Vegetables and fruits are cheaper than Cebu, 8 years have had lived in Manila b4 went to abroad. After 8 yeras back to my birthplace Cebu and live in Lapu-Lapu for 12 years.
Though fishes and housing prices are quite high I LOVE CEBU. And if I going to live in Philippines again. I still go back to Cebu. You have everything.
Thank you... Love from cebu
Cebu is one of the progressive City in the Philippines 🫶
True..
I love cebu a lot of places to visit I love near by ocean mountains I will go back soonnn
Happy to see you're loving Cebu! You haven't done a food vlog yet - try Cebu lechon, you should try it😋
MERGIM! Do a Panay Island trip. You will be exploring Iloilo City, Antique, Capiz and Aklan (where Boracay is). There are TONS of places to visit there!
Thanks for promoting our provinces.. First time in the comment..
@@ladysnow8186 watch that Philippines life vlog they did Panay Island mainly Iloilo city
You are one of the best vloggers. Thanks for showing the beautiful places of the Philippines.
Hi..been a while since i watched your vlogs..stay safe always..enjoy cebu..mabuhay!!!🇵🇭
You must try and go back on weekends at SUGBU MERCADO at IT Park, different open night market cuisine, starts at 5pm. Also try a Cebuano Brians Ribs at Casa Verde branches at Ayala, IT Park. Cheap food at Tabo sa banay near Colon Dtreet ang huge market at Carbon Market.
For relegious and historical places, you can go at Magellans Cross Basilica del Sto Nino and Fort San Pedro, Plaza Indepedencia nearby each other
CEBU is like home and Manila is like an office.
Haha this is the best hypothetical comment for both cities! So witty 😁
Its like work and toxicity vs relaxation and with family.
Hitsura nito... Paano ang ibang mga siyudad at mga probinsya
nice
@@ravishing-troop5276 home, office, vacation house??😁
cebu is really a great place. beach and mountains are near! you dont have to drive that long!
I reached this part of your vlog and still looving every single one of it. Keep it real...You are doing amazing
I came here in Cebu 12 years ago. Never left. ❤
Hi Mergim you went back to Cebu city ....both Cebu and Manila has different and unique charms....even Cebu girls and Manila girls are different...so you tried to "catch a bus but it didn't stop". Love waits but buses don't?!.....hahaha.... joke only Mergim... . Thanks for showing is a glimpse modern Cebu.... Keep safe....God bless. Where to after this....looking forward to your next vlog.
I love both metros. They're both beautiful and ugly, different vibes, different charms.🍻 Btw, Mandani Bay in Mandaue City and Mactan Newtown in LapuLapu City are rising while the SRP and other reclamations are still developing.
Hi Mergim, if you happen to be in PH come January, please do NOT miss SINULOG festival in Cebu.
It is the country’s grandest and biggest festival with street parades in the city that start in the morning until the dusk. At night, there are street parties at Mango Avenue, near Fuente Osmena.
I’ve attended Sinulog for 7 times and I live here in Metro Manila. Cheers.
True, Santo Nino biggest celebration in Cebu. Lot of crowds over the place the day of sinulog festival. Lots of vloggers come on this day not just to increase subs but to experience the culture. Watch old vlog of 2019 and 2020 like making it happen to give you idea. Streets closed so lot of walking.
No Sinulog parade for 2021 and 2022 due to the pandemic...Novena masses are celebrated online... hopefully in the near future... 🙏
@@jayandtina Hello. What I meant was for Jan 2023
The places to explore in Cebu are so so many... I wish you could have a seasoned tour guide...
Cebu has it all - modern city living, old city centers, historical sites, beaches, mountains, and close to everywhere in the Philippines via sea or air - you'll never get bored!
Cebu every time , from the people , the atmosphere and the food
It depends on the comfort you have. And of course if you like the beach, come to Cebu!! But Manila is of course brilliant too
You should have dined in Sugbo Mercado in Cebu IT Park. There are plenty of choices for food there. Its even worth another episode @Mergim Vlogs
It's Colon Street, the oldest street in the whole Philippines
Missing Cebu's Laguna Cafe. Their food is fantastic!!!
I agree with you mate that Cebu got it all.
you should have visited IT Park anywhere from Wednesday to Sunday so that you could have also tried Sugbo Mercado... its just right across The Pyramid... Sugbo Mercado is only open from Wed-Sun
that first bus did not stop because you are in a no loading / unloading zone, hehe... keep safe and enjoy your travel as always mergim...
Cebu city is the "queen city if the south."
I stayed in Fuente for almost a month before 😅 You mentioned it so I just remembered the place. 😊
Beautiful pictures, great advice for a next vacation
Cebu Used to be the Capital City in the Philippines, The oldest city and the first city in the Philippines that is why Cebu is never a province to any second city like manila!
My cousin from Pittsburg visited Manila and Cebu. He likes Cebu.
Welcome to Cebu.
Good for you, me it’s been like 3 years not being home. 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Take care mate 🇦🇺
Simple answer, no, but i do agree the islands around Cebu is amazing...
Long Answer is that you have not explored enough of Luzon to see how amazing it is - for an example, 1000 islands is just a bus ride away, so is la union (be it a lot longer), you also have the islands off quezon province then again you have Camarines Norte. Depending on how far you want to travel you have Baguio, Vigan City, Pagudpud, Donsol (whale sharks)... I have not been, but i have only heard good things about Batanes..
So many places to visit even outside of Luzon and Cebu...
The Philippines has been blessed and one day i will retire in the PI
the comments here are so fun and enjoyable. but still i love cebu! =)
Cebu City needs light rail trains or Subway too.. also a big park with lots of trees and a city beach too
Did you get a chance to see the big Sugbo Mercado? Its the night market/ street food of all kinds near IT Park. You can challenge yourself to spend 300 pesos, and be satisfied on the amount of food you'll consume.
Cebu, definitely, no offense to Manila ❤️❤️💯😍😍
Yes! Especially airport wise as well....
Gud evening Mergim, while u are in cebu dont forget to visit consolacion cebu purisima mountain 🏔️ purok yellobell panoypoy in consolacion cebu ♥️
from the hotel u staying now,i think 1 hours away 😊 when you drive a motorbike😊 u will see many beautiful sights in this place, take care 🇵🇭
Hi Mergim, try other city like Davao in Mindanao, you'll gonna love it also..
Dont
let him rest
Yah of all the cities covered by vloggers Davao is something that I don't see cuz its too far but really curious to know about
@@adrianpaulo7302 cause it's boring
cebu city needs a lot of improvement, the city has become worse than manila in terms of urban decay since so much effort and money has been put in to develop manila, while cebu has been left to rot, but natural beauty wise cebu is way more beautiful than manila. development wise its very behind.
@Lovehypocrite
the people seem so easy to talk to, they all show such high interest in interacting with you
Simply and clear...YES! Cebu is MUCH better!
if You wish to experience more posh resorts go to Lapu lapu city, in mactan island.. Its a world class..
Yeah Cebu has it all... You can access the mountain, the sea and the city..
