I think Cheng transferred the clapping ability to Guang as he died, and then Guang used it to change the past. And by changing it, he doesn't have the ability anymore

Actually the thing is, that ability has a 12 hour cap which means once he enters the photo he has to return under 12 hours otherwise he'll stay inside that photo's timeline forever. That's what happened to lu guang, he is already inside the photo so he can't use his ability again

Lu Guang suddenly appeared, just knowing how to befriend Cheng Xiaoshi. Also, S2 ep 1, shows the timeline change because you actually got a glimpse of CXS dying.

If you go back to the first episode of this season, you may notice that at the very beginning of the episode, when Lu Guang is stabbed, he sees the moment when Xiaoshi dies in his own arms and makes remarks about taking a gamble on whether or not the death can be changed. So it goes back a long way to change the past.
@@megancarvalho457 When you watch it for the first time, Lu Guang seems to be hallucinating in that episode, so this is a detail that no one will pay attention to, and if you don't see a comment like this one, you may never have learned it. Apart from the really visible plot twists, the author also added invisible plot twists to the series and this is incredible. When I think about this, so many ideas come to my mind. Of course, when it comes to link clicking, it is not what you think, but the last thing that comes to your mind that happens in the series. However, I think that in the first episodes of the next season, we will watch Lu Guang's journey to change the past, and then something will happen with the new rival character.

i just now understood how the brother was controlling the mom in the past without touching her. the twins awakened their powers at that moment and the sister was holding the picture of her and the mom, and using her powers to see what the mom was seeing. Then the brother touched the sister and was able to control the mom that way.

The show was well planned out, if you go back to season 2 ep 2, Cheng told Lu that Tianchen say he want to take his power and if Lu know anything about that. Lu responded with a no with a worried look as well as evidently hiding something. If you notice, season 1 have characters whose power are tied to the past (but their powers can have an affect on the present via any to date picture or security camera. Also with an up to date photo , Lu power might extend to the future as his power allow him to see 12 hours ahead of the photo). Season 2 we got characters whose powers are more tied to the present (Mainly Tianchen, Tianxi her power to see ones memories can extend to past but it is unknown if it is starting from time of the picture she looking at or from someone birth). If this pattern continues season 3 we will get characters whose power are more directly related to the future.
Plz read this:3 I've been a believer in the time loop theory since day one. I think Lu Guang was just trying to save Cheng Xiaoshi from dying, which is why he was so strict about not changing or interfering with the dead. He believed it would ruin his plan to save Cheng Xiaoshi. Also, Lu Guang is already in the picture, which is why he can't use his ability to enter it again. And did you guys know? The Season 1 song 'Dive Back in Time'-this song was from Lu Guang's perspective, bruh!
in ep 1 of s2, as lu guang’s about to pass out from getting stabbed, he thinks something along the lines of “things are different/changing” and “if this is the price to pay, i dont mind” which makes me think that in the original timeline cheng xiaoshi got stabbed instead of lu guag, then he got his power, went back to change it (no way to guess how or when), and HE ended up being stabbed instead. even though he changed the past, he had no way of knowing if it would work (if cheng xiaoshi would still die in another way) nor that he could die in his stead. hence why he thinks “things are changing”, since HE didnt originally get stabbed (and we know he didnt because when we see him travel back to save cheng xiaoshi he was blood on his clothes, but not an injury. the blood was probably cheng xiaoshi’s since we know he held him as he was bleeding out and died) and then concludes that since death is a node in time that should not be changed, then maybe he got stabbed because by changing cheng xiaoshi’s death, there is still someone who needs to die in his place. so i think he essentially meant “if the price i have to pay to safe him is to die, then that’s fine” which makes sense. he thought he would die instead of him, and he was okay with it because his purpose was to save him in the first place. i also personally think he doesn’t have cheng xiaoshi’s photo jumping power anymore, since he changed the future in which he got it. i think there’s a chance he changed what he needed to and when the future changed he lost it. i’m more certain about my first theory than this one though
I mean yes but I don’t think the death of Chen Xiaoshi happened in similar circumstances and because of the same person. Because Lu Guang really didn’t know about Qiao Ling being possessed or the powers of the twins. So I think he changed the timeline so much new variables appeared and he can’t anticipate it anymore. If we assume he went back to the point they first met (Qiao Ling talking about how he magically appeared one day and him saying to go back to the beginning + the fact that S1 he is the one teaching how the powers work) he could have changed a lot of things. Maybe even the paranormal studio didn’t exist in the previous timelines since he didn’t know the clients and their problems, if it was the case he would know how to solve it without even using the pictures or what CXS was gonna do. And for your second point I think it’s simpler than that : since Lu Guang clapped to go in the past, if he clap again he would just exit the photo. Just like we never saw CXS entering a photo inside a photo 🤗

Yeah that does make sense. And that would explain why Lu was so uneasy when he was at the hospital, because he thought he was supposed to die but when he didn't he was still worried about what would happen to Chen. Also when he saw Chen getting shot, he thought that he was dying again anyway and that all he did was for nothing as he can't change Chen's death, that's why he lose it for a moment. Even when Chen was trying to catch the brother on the boat, he went in his stead to avoid him getting taken away and potentially killed.
You got it! in another timeline Chen Xiaoshi died and his power transferred to Lu Guang, so he used photos to go back to the past and save him. We don’t know how many photos he had but there are theories that he failed several times to save him, that’s why it’s his last chance, last photo. So maybe there is a « fate » factor and Chen Xiaoshi is not safe yet… Also it’s safe to assume that in the timeline we followed since S1 he can’t use Chen Xiaoshi’s power anymore because he is basically in a photo so by clapping he would just exit it. Fun to notice they teased us since long ago by saying Lu Guang is like a old man when he speaks, he must be old in fact if he lived in this photo since they first met + other timelines where he failed

Especially since seasons 1 and 2 are very different but at the same time very strongly connected. Genius anime and best time travel anime imo. Sept 13th (12:05 am): At an unknown year that is blurred out, on September 13th Lu Guang uses Cheng Xiaoshi’s abilities to dive back in time and change the past. He says this is his “last chance to return to the beginning”. It seems that Cheng Xiaoshi died in this timeline and her abilities got transferred to Lu Guang. - *Dive 3* Earliest event so far is Siwen climbing the stairs for an unspecified amount of time (Probably around 30-50 years) to challenge his lover’s father. - *Dive 2* Photo dives for the restaurants of the noodle ladies, likely ranging a few decades prior to Ep 1. - Sometime in the 2000s: Qian Jin becomes a prominent police officer with a good reputation. He is partnered with Xiao Li, who is later known as Captain Xiao. - Qian Jin eventually mentors Chen Bin and becomes close with both him and Xiao Li. Outside of work, Qian Jin grows paranoid and becomes suspicious of his wife having an affair with her fellow acting colleague, Zhuang Shuai. He becomes obsessive over it and Chen Bin takes notice. The final straw was when he believed they were lying about checking out a venue in a location where it wouldn’t make much sense. - Qian Jin murders his wife and covers it up, in part due to Xiao Li’s trust of Qian being extremely righteous. Qian Jin questions to Xiao Li what all his hard work and life is even for if he can’t even keep his wife loyal. Xiao Li tells Qian that his wife was pregnant when she died, making him believe even further that she was having an affair since he never knew. He laughs maniacally - Sometime in the 2000s at a similar time range: Li Tianchen/Li Tianxi’s mother meets with Mr. Zhou, Tianxi’s teacher about how to help Tianxi the most. She says she’s thinking about getting a divorce which Tianxi overhears, making her cry thinking that her mom doesn’t want her. Tianxi’s mom says that she’s never going to leave or separate from her Dad, and just to never repeat that again. - Similar to the two birds spouting shit to the dad wolf in the story, Deng the twins’ neighbour starts spreading rumours with the security guard about the twins’ mother having an affair with the school teacher Mr. Zhou. Tianchen overhears them and hates them with a passion. - When losing his ball in a fountain, Tianchen tries to recover it but doesn’t want to get wet or dirty. A person jumps into the fountain and gets the ball for him, instilling in him the philosophy of having courage, not being afraid, and being a “hunter”. He comes friends with this person, who ends up being Liu Xiao, son of Liu Jing the CEO of Quede Games, and the younger brother of Liu Min, the blonde antagonist. - 6 Months After Qian Jin’s Wife’s Murder **Dive 12** : Future Cheng dives into Tianxi’s body and goes out with her mother. While trying to win a plushy they run into Deng the neighbour. On the way home Tianchen yells and pushes Deng away, since he has an intense hatred for him for spreading rumours about their family. Tianchen says he hates people like that. Tianchen then reminds Tianxi about the sign language for “I want to go home”. The twins’ father goes insane over the plushy and camera, thinking that his wife is cheating on him and beats his wife to near death. Tianchen remembers what Liu Xiao said to him and decides to be courageous, getting hit with a hammer in the process. The twins’ powers awaken, and together they control their mom through the photo of her and Tianxi. The result is that both of their parents die. The police who were called by Deng when Tianxi knocked on his door come to the crime scene. - One of the police officers is Qian Jin, who meets the twins for the first time at the crime scene and hugs them. Tianchen laughs maniacally similar to Qian Jin which reminds him of himself and they both begin laughing insanely while Tianxi cries. Qian Jin covers up the info on the twins and gives Tianchen his first hit, Zhuang Shuai. Tianchen and Tianxi together dives into Zhuang’s body and make him hang himself. - Qian Jin quits the force after rumours start spreading that the “suicide” had something to do with him. He becomes a lawyer for the Liu Jing family.
- Late 2007-early 2008: Cheng Xiaoshi’s parents leave for a trip and don't return. Cheng and Qiao Ling have already been childhood friends, so Qiao Ling’s dad lends Cheng 10 years of rent which he will pay off after that when he’s an adult. - May 2008 **Dive 4** : The concept of “nodes” is introduced. Most changes made wouldn’t matter because all the relevant people end up dying in the earthquake so the timeline is preserved. Cheng Xiaoshi dives into Chen Xiao’s body and wins the basketball game as well as learns that the gym is going to close down either way. He delivers heartfelt messages from Chen Xiao in the future to his captain, lover and mom. He tries altering the timeline but Lu Guang lightly manipulates him into letting things play out as they should. Earthquake happens and a young Cheng goes to see a young Qiao’s house crying worried that his parents died in the event. - Mid 2010s: Cheng Xiaoshi has developed skills and a love for basketball. Sometime in high school Cheng Xiaoshi meets Lu Guang on the court and asks him to join in and play. - Mid 2010s: Sometime later (Likely still in high school), Lu Guang passes by the photo studio while Cheng and Qiao are painting it and says hello to Cheng. Qiao Ling convinces Lu Guang to help them out and thus the beginning of their long friendship begins. Lu says he was drawn to being Cheng’s friend because he was quite “naive”. - The trio attend college in Guidu, which is likely where they met and became friends with Xu Shanshan and Dong Yi (They may have all met somehow before but it’s unclear). - At some point, Qian Jin and Tianchen meet with Liu Min for the first time. Liu Min remarks that Tianchen looks familiar, possibly because he say him hanging out with his brother at some point. Liu Min wants them to put an end to the internet trolls who have been attacking him online. Tianchen checks who the first target is, and laughs maniacally as it’s Deng their former neighbour. Tianchen feels like this is poetic justice since although it was his Dad who caused the family problems, it was Deng and the security guards who were the birds chirping in his dad’s ears making him go insane. Together, Qian, Min, and Tianchen laugh together insanely once more and begin their friendship. This is the start of a string of serial murders. - Mid 2010s Sometime (Maybe) **Dive 11** : Future Cheng dives into Chen Bin’s body on the day his phone wallpaper photo was taken, which was the day him and his wife got their marriage certificate. He makes a ring out of a dandelion and proposes, apologizing for his inability to stay by her side, he thanks her for forgiving his frequent absences. He pledges love and protection not only for the rest of this life, but also across the span of their future lives to come, and asks if she is willing to marry him in all subsequent existences. She teases that she can’t refuse now that they have their marriage certificate and jokes that his chances of marrying her in the next life will depend on his performance then - 2018? (3 Years ago and since present day is 2021…): Sometime during dollege Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang travel overseas together for a trip -> THIS IS GOING TO BE SHOWN IN SEASON 3 THIS OCTOBER 8 EPISODES. - While Cheng and Lu are on vacation, Future Cheng from *Dive 6* dives into Doudou and is kidnapped by the human trafficking bitch. Qiao and Xu walk by while noticing Doudou being taken away. - **Dive 5** : Future Cheng dives back in time through the security camera so his whole body is in the past. While chasing after the bitch he runs into Qiao and Xu from the past and ends up distracting Qiao from Doudou being kidnapped, as she is wondering why Cheng isn’t overseas. Future Cheng wakes up in a motel in Doudou’s body and attempts to get the kidnapper’s ID while noticing religious and spiritual items. Cheng fights off the kidnapper in Doudou’s body while using the martial arts learned from Master Siwen. He uses the kidnapper’s spiritual beliefs against her telling her she’ll go to hell if she doesn’t take care of Doudou for the next 3 years. After Doudou begins crying and acting like a kid again she believes that he was actually possessed by the spirits of her ancestors and beings taking care of Doudou. - 2019? (Dong and Xu finished “2 years of post-grad” in 2021 so…): All 5 friends graduate together from Guidu. Emma joins Quede games and notices the accounts are being embezzled. - At some unspecified point, Cheng and Lu obtained or learned of their time-photo abilities and opened up an investigation business from the photo studio in order to pay back Cheng’s rent to Qiao’s dad. Lu is just helping him out because he’s good friends with Cheng and Qiao it seems but it’s not specified. No one knows about their powers but them. It’s unclear how many times they dive before Episode 1 of Season 1 but they build a reputation as reliable people who can perform investigative tasks with photos. Rumours start to spread about them having magical or mystical abilities. Lu Guang tells Cheng 3 rules for whenever they dive: 1) Only 12 hours to complete the task. 2) Follow Lu Guang’s instructions so he doesn’t alter the past. 3) Leave the past and future be. - (Dives will be counted starting from the ones shown in the series) - 2021 April 13th (10 pm) to 2021 April 14th (10 am) **Dive 1** : Cheng dives into Emma’s body and lives her life for the next 12 hours. He dodges sexual harassment by Mr. Zhu, the guy in charge of the financial data that he needs to steal. Emma’s parents text her and Lu Guang tells Cheng not to look at it because he knows that Cheng is emotional and impulsive (He also feels the emotions of the person so it’s not just him). Cheng can’t resist and messages “I miss you” to Emma’s parents altering the past. The timeline is still preserved however since Emma is destined to die anyway. On the 14th Cheng spills coffee through Emma’s body onto Zhu and gets to view the financial data for the job. Emma is used as the scapegoat and fired from her job. - 2021 April 16th (10 pm) to 2021 April 17th (10 am): Cheng and Lu get a job to gather financial data from Quede Games before the 3rd quarter financial report. Cheng dives into Emma’s body and returns at 10 am on the 17th (Dive 1). - 2021 April 17th (After 10 am): Emma’s boss Mr. Zhu is arrested for embezzlement. Due to the message Cheng sent, Emma’s parents came by to drop her mom’s homemade spring rolls since they thought Emma was feeling lonely. Emma gets emotional and goes to meet her parents. Liu Min plans to go after Emma for ruining his company. While on her way to meet her parents Emma bumps into Liu Min who offers her a ride. - **Dive 8** Future Cheng solo dives through the security camera into the parking lot where Liu Min takes Emma into his car and hides in the trunk. Liu Min stops the car and strangles Emma to almost death before hearing Cheng scream from guilt in the trunk. When he opens the trunk Cheng dives out of the security footage. - 2021 April 17th (11:35 pm) to 2021 April 18th (Sunrise): Liu Min comes to his senses and begins driving to take Emma to the hospital but Emma regains consciousness and crashes the car in an attempt to escape, paralyzing Liu Min. Emma becomes suicidal and almost jumps off a nearby bridge. - 2021 April 17th (?) or 18th: Liu Min is taken to the hospital after the car crash. His father Liu Jing, gets Qian to “take care” of Emma with Tianchen. - **Dive 10** : Future Cheng who dove through the security footage comes to talk her out of it. He uses all his past diving experiences to give her hope and save her life, telling her that he knows what she’s been through. Li Tianchen takes over Emma’s body and meets Cheng Xiaoshi for the first time, remarking that there’s a witness this time for his body-snatching murders. He jumps off the bridge in Emma’s body before diving out, killing Emma.

Lu Guang see’s the news about Emma’s corpse being found and stays silent. - 2021 Sometime Between April 19th and Early October (Unspecified): Cheng and Lu get a client asking to find the secret recipe for the noodles of a noodle restaurant she and her partner owned before her partner bailed (Dive 2). - 2021 Sometime Between April 19th and Early October (Unspecified): Qiao joins a dojo to learn self-defence and meets Master Siwen who tells her the story about his quest to marry the girl he loves. Cheng and Lu dive to learn the father’s secret move and fail (Dive 3). Cheng and Lu help Siwen finally win her father’s approval. Cheng, Lu and Qiao all begin training martial arts from master Siwen. - 2021 Late September/Early October: Cheng develops Chen Xiao’s photos from 2008 after being asked by him. - 2021 Oct ?: Qiao Ling hears on the radio that there’s been a string of serial murders while Chen Xiao approaches her about the basketball/earthquake case. Cheng Xiaoshi dives into Chen Xiao’s younger body in 2008 to deliver his 3 messages (Dive 4). - Cheng and Lu Guang don’t talk for days due to Cheng being traumatized by the pain of everyone dying from the earthquake and mad at Lu Guang for lying to him. - 2021 Oct ?: Captain Xiao first meet the trio and approach them about the Doudou case. - 2021 Oct 12th: Captain Xiao noticed the file on the 7th victim missing and blames Chen Bin. Chen Bin also helps Doudou’s father get security camera footage that is passed to Cheng, Lu, and Qiao to use for diving. - 2021 Oct 14th: Cheng dives into the security camera footage to save Doudou but is startled and runs into Qiao and Xu from 3 years prior when he is supposed to be overseas. (Dive 5). - 2021 Oct 14th: Cheng dives again but this time into Doudou’s body and is successful (Dive 6). - 2021 Oct. ?: Doudou reunion with family and kidnapper arrested. Captain Xiao approaches the trio with Emma’s murder case but Lu Guang refuses before Cheng notices. - 2021 Oct 19th **Dive 7** : Future Cheng dives into Xu Shanshan as she had too much to drink and can’t remember what Dong Yi said to her at a party that is vital to their relationship. He sees who he thinks is the serial killer and follows them before apprehending them. - 2021 Oct 20th: Xu posts a photo of her and Qiaoling before going to ask Cheng and Lu to help her finds out what Dong said to her. Cheng dives into Xu’s body and Lu Guang gets the information they need. Lu Guang messages the information to Xu (Dive 7). - 2021 Oct 20st **Dive 9** : While Xu is in bed that night, Cheng dives into Xu Shanshan. He confronts Li Tianchen who is inhabiting Liu Min’s body and intrigues him by challenging him to a game. He says he left a clue at 10am. Tianchen theorizes that this may be the same person whom he saw on the bridge through Emma’s body and is intrigued. He agrees to play along. - 2021 Oct 21st: Xu’s photo appears in the paper and Dong waits for Xu outside his job interview building. Tianchen calls the trio. Lu Guang goes to police station to provide them with the LIu Min’s plates, who has been a suspect in the serial murders. - 2021 Oct 21st: Cheng XIaoshi solo dives into the surveillance camera shot of April 17th through his computer to when Liu Min is taking Emma away. Qiao Ling sees him return and learns of their powers (Dive 8). - 2021 Oct 21st: Captain Xiao and Chen Bin visit Liu Min’s house and learn that he’s paralyzed. At 10am Qiao Ling messages Xu Shanshan’s phone which Tianchen/Min has, which is the clue Cheng said he’d give. Cheng then preps the dark photo room for his plan to trap the killer. At 4pm Cheng dives into Xu’s body to confront the killer (Dive 9). - 2021 Oct 22nd (1:20 am): Killer arrives at the studio and is led into the dark room by a voice recording Cheng previously set up. Lu Guang runs and locks the killer in the photo room. Cheng dives back from Dive 9 and traps the killer in the room with him, surrounded by photos. Cheng fights the killer and gets him to confess, allowing the police to come and arrest him. Tianchen dives out of Liu Min. Cheng asks Chen Bin for footage of Emma to stop her from jumping off the bridge (Dive 10). Li Tianchen uses a photo of Qiao Ling that Xu took of them both to take over Qiao Ling, as he was in possession of Xu’s phone (Also the photo was posted on her moments but I think the show forgot about that, or the character of Tianchen didn’t check Xu’s social media and went straight for her phone gallery). Tianchen stabs Lu Guang in Qiao Ling’s body. - 2021 Oct 22nd (5:50 am): Cheng exits his dive after witnessing Emma be taken over by Tianchen in the past and die. He notices Lu Guang passed out bleeding on the couch and Qiao Ling being taken over by the killer (Tianchen) with the knife in hand. The two of them fight and Cheng disarms the killer using the martial arts taught by Siwen. Cheng gains valuavle information about the killer at this point such as them having an ability to tell lies somehow, and their ability also having to do with photos. He also learned that the killer wants to steal Cheng’s ability somehow. The killer notably also remarks that Cheng cheated last time with the photo room plan and tells him not to do it again. After the police come into the studio, Tianchen leaves Qiao Ling’s body leaving looking guilty for stabbing Lu Guang. Cheng takes the knife and gets taken into custody to avoid Qiao taking any blame. - 2021 Oct 22nd (6 am to 7:55 pm): Cheng is detained and questioned but no one believes him and he has to wait until Xiao and Chen Bin are able to get him out. He is lied about Lu Guang not surviving the operation for Lu’s protection. Lu Guang survives the operation and is transferred to a special ward. Siwen and Ouyang come to help the trio and register Lu Guang to the hospital under Ouyang’s father’s name. - 2021 Oct 22nd 7:55 pm: Chen Bin picks Cheng Xiaoshi up from jail. - Liu Min dies and Chen Bin contacts the Liu family letting them know. Liu Jing the father doesn’t care about Liu Min dying and just wants his phone to be recovered since it has valuable data on the company and family. He sends Qian Jin to recover the phone. Qian Jin visits Chen Bin’s wife with his goon Ma. Ma plants evidence so when Chen Bin eventually gets murdered, it will look like he was a dirty cop taking bribes. When they leave they take a photo of Chen Bin for the twins to use. - 2021 Oct 22nd 8:20 pm: Chen Bin gets a call from his wife that Qian Jin are at his house to see him. Chen Bin and Cheng Xiaoshi arrive at the special ward where Lu Guang is and Cheng changes. At the same time, Qian Jin gives the stolen photo of Chen Bin to Tianchen, and he holds Tianxi’s hand using both of their powers to possess Chen Bin. - 2021 Oct 22nd night: Cheng learns Lu is still alive. Cheng, Lu, Qiao and Xiao all discuss information and what to do further while Tianchen listens to everything through Chen Bin’s body. They discuss the killer’s motive and abilities as well as precautions against him. - 2021 Oct 22nd 8:44pm: The trio decide to look at Liu Min’s confiscated phone for clues about the killer. Once they get the phone from Chen Bin they notice that it’s not Liu Min’s phone, but Chen’s phone instead. Chen runs out of the room and Xiao goes chasing after him. The possessed Chen gives the phone to Ma. Tianxi gets overwhelmed by Chen’s memories and by what they’re doing, realizing they’re doing actually what happened to then. Unable to leave another daughter without a parent and destroy another family like how there’s way destroyed, Tianxi breaks off the connection and runs out of the van away from Qian and Tianchen. Tianchen chases after Tianxi, and Qian Jin sends goons to the hospital to help Ma since the connection was now broken. While Siwen, Ouyang and her father are leaving the hospital after helping the trio out they notice a lot of goons and decide to check back in with Cheng and the others. Ma pushes Chen Bin off the roof since he’s no longer possessed. - Tianxi runs into Siwen and the others and drops her photo. Tianchen runs past them and gets stopped by Ouyang’s dad, giving him the photo. He points them in the wrong direction and runs to the real direction of the ward. He takes Liu Min’s phone from Ma, making Ma think that he was sent by Qian Jin to keep the phone safe. - Xiao witnesses Chen Bin’s death from being pushed off the roof by Ma. - Cheng and Qiao split up looking for anyone responsible in the hospital while being directed by Lu Guang. They both get into a 2 v 1 against Ma and take him down. His goons show up but they are all taken out by Ouyan’s father, who finally arrives at the ward with his daughter and Siwen. The police reinforcements arrive and take everyone into custody. Tianchen goes to Lu Guang’s ward and gives him the last photo of their mother. - The goons, Cheng, Qiao and Xiao go to the police station and Cheng calls Lu Guang to check in.
- 2021 Oct 23rd Morning/Afternoon: Cheng Bin and Liu Min’s funeral are held in the same location. Chen Bin’s wife arrives at the funeral in her wedding dress since they were never able to have their wedding, bringing everyone to tears. Xiao, Cheng and Qiao come into contact with Liu Jing, his wife and Qian Jin for the first time. Xiao and Qian have a tense confrontation and Cheng swings at Liu Jing after he insults Chen Bin. Cheng’s punch is caught by Qian Jin but Qiao Ling slaps him hard across the face, which he’ll remember for a while. - 2021 Oct 23rd Late Afternoon: Cheng returns to Lu Guang’s room and wants to help Chen Bin and his wife by giving them some happiness in a way that wouldn’t change the timeline. Lu Guang agrees and they use Chen Bin’s wallpaper to dive to the day Chen and his wife got their marriage certificate. (Dive 11). - 2021 Oct 24th: Lu Guang’s birthday. Xiao asks Lu Guang what happened when Tianchen appeared at the ward, since he has security footage of it but Lu Guang wasn’t disclosing the information. He shows them the photo but says he can’t see too far into it like he usually can because of his injuries. Cheng dives into the photo as Tianxi (Dive 12). - 2021 Oct 24th Late Afternoon: Tianchen tells Qian Jin his plan to kidnap Cheng Xiaoshi and find his sister Tianxi. They want to use Cheng’s powers to change the past for both of them. Qian briefs him on the getaway and drops him at the police station where Tianchen impersonates his sister. Cheng learns all about Tianxi and Tianchen’s past from diving into the photo and notices some strange interference in his powers and connection with Lu Guang that happened when the brother touched him. Cheng gets completely kicked out of the photo when Tianchen uses his powers in combination with Tianxi’s for the first time, but he gets to see through their Mom’s POV for a second before getting kicked out. - 2021 Oct 24th Early Evening: Cheng and everyone gets notified by Wang Juan that someone claiming to know all about the murders is at the police station and will only speak with Cheng Xiaoshi. Cheng, Qiao and Xiao leave for the station. Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianchen have their very first in-person meeting, although Tianchen is pretending to be his sister Tianxi. - 2021 Oct 24th 6:42 pm **Dive 13** : Lu Guang takes a photo of the view from outside his window. It appears as if Lu Guang is taking it for the purpose of allowing Cheng from the future the ability to dive into his body. Future Cheng follows through and dives into Lu Guang’s body, following the actions that Lu Guang took in the future he was from. He texts Qiao Ling the waterway location of where current Cheng is being taken. - Cheng and Tianchen have a discussion, and remarks that Cheng cheated last time so he doesn’t trust him. Cheng says he doesn’t have anything other than his phone on him, knowing that he has a bug and that the police is listening in. Tianchen touches Cheng and is able to control him, asking him to go out. Wang Juan appears saying she’ll go with “her”, but Tianchen asks how she would appear so suddenly if they weren’t being listened in on. Tianchen then touches both Cheng and Wang Juan, controlling both of them and leaving the station. The 3 of them get to the entrance and the security guard lets them leave after the controlled Wang Juan says they’re getting something to eat. Qiao and Xaio get to the entrance as well and Xiao goes in the direction of where Tianchen and the others went, using the tracker in the bug that’s on Cheng. - 2021 Oct 24th 6:55 pm: “Lu Guang” recreates the events that happened and breaks the window while going to hide in the bathroom. He sends Qiao Ling the riverfront address. - 2021 Oct 24th 7pm: Qian Jin sends his goons to attack the police. - Qiao Ling checks her phone and sees the message from “Lu Guang” earlier and heads for the waterway. - Wang Juan is left handcuffed to a pole and Tianchen takes Cheng to one of Qian Jin’s goons, who finds and destroys the tracking bug. Xiao finds Wang Juan and confirms it’s her with her officer number. Wang Juan fights off Ma and other goons but is critically injured and almost killed by a surprise bat to the head by Qian Jin. Qian Jin tells Ma that Wang Juan worked on the force with him and was known for her combat ability. Xiao fights and defeats the big goon and then goes to check on Wang Juan but sees her bleeding unconscious and screams. - Tianchen and Cheng arrive at the waterway right before Qiao Ling and “Lu Guang”. “Lu Guang” drives a boat into the one that Tianchen is about to board and jumps onto Cheng, disconnecting him from Tianchen’s contact control. “Lu Guang” fights off Tianchen’s attempts to touch both him and Cheng with a surprise display of fighting and martial arts. “Lu Guang” is about to change the future from what he witnessed, by not following Tianchen and being caught, thus saving Lu Guang from being captured. However, current Cheng runs after Tianchen. To prevent Tianchen from getting his powers, “Lu Guang” rushes first and gets caught, thus fulfilling the future he saw anyways. This likely means that the future is predetermined and there are no alternate timelines as of yet in the story. Future Cheng Xiaoshi gets kicked out of Lu Guang’s body and Tianchen takes Lu as a hostage. Xiao takes Wang Juan back to the station and puts out a warrant for “Li Tianxi”, as everyone believes the killer is Tianxi and not her brother due to him impersonating her. - After returning to the station, Cheng, Xiao and Qiao look for clues about what happened to Lu Guang as they’re confused on what his planning and thinking were. They find Lu Guang’s phone and see the photo he took of the window. Together they deduce that the “Lu Guang” at the waterfront wasn’t Lu Guang at all but in fact Cheng in Lu’s body. It made more sense to them seeing the fighting skills Lu Guang was displaying, which he never displayed at Siwen’s training. The police find the real Li Tianxi. Qiao Ling convinces Cheng to dive and repeat the events in Lu Guang’s body, saying that she believes the future is predetermined. Cheng agrees and dives (Dive 13).
- Qiao Ling talks to Tianxi and learns about both twins’ powers. They find out that it was the brother who they met before, Tianchen. Qian Jin learns that Tianchen failed and captured Lu Guang instead of Cheng, who they don’t care about since they want Cheng’s diving abilities. While Tianchen helps Lu Guang change, Cheng and Qiao get Tianxi to see where/how Lu Guang is doing. She is too upset to continue. - 2021 Oct 25th 2:25 am: Qian Jin constructs a thorough plan with his knowledge and intelligence of the police force and gets Tianchen to call the police offering a hostage trade. They demand that Qiao Ling be the one to come with Cheng since Qian Jin remembers the slap she gave him. Cheng creates a plan to escape after the trade using his diving abilities by diving into the police footage on Xiao’s phone and diving back when the trade is done (Dive 14). - 2021 Oct 25th 3 am **Dive 14** : Cheng and Qiao go to the theatre with Tianxi and the captain outside in the car monitoring. Qian Jin makes Cheng and Qiao change before turning off the metal detector and making them walk through it. This way, they wouldn’t suspect that their new clothes were bugged with trackers. Qian and Tianchen knew that Cheng would rely too much on his ability like he has before, so they arranged for explosives to go off in the theatre and for Ma to be in the car and follow Cheng’s new position when he escapes. Lu and Cheng exchange places, saving Lu Guang. The lights go out and a trap door opens making Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianchen meet once again, this time without disguises. Cheng dives back to escape and ends up in the car. Explosives go off and Ma tases Xiao, Cheng and Tianxi, capturing the latter two. - After the fallout of the explosives, Lu, Qiao and Xiao deduce that Qiao, Tianchen and Ma likely escaped to the underground railway, so they set off to cover the north and south. - Qian, Cheng, Tianchen, Tianxi and Ma have a confrontation in the sewer. Qian says he wants Cheng to go back and fix things with his wife. Cheng asks if the person who gave Lu Guang the photo was Tianchen or Tianxi, and Tianchen confirms it was him. Qian Jin acts confused like he doesn’t know that Tianchen had Liu Min’s phone, but Ma exposes him on accident which leads to Ma getting shot. Everyone is now hostile with each other so Tianchen brings up the fact that Qian’s wife never cheated. Ma attacks Qian Jina and the two run away from the others fighting. Lu Guang, Xiao Li and Qiao Ling hear the gun shots and run towards Cheng. Tianchen tries to grab Cheng once again and the two start fighting. Lu Guang arrives to get Tianchen away from Cheng but Tianchen tases him and takes him into a choke hold, threatening to kill him. Qiao Ling shows up as well. Tianxi speaks for the first time in years, repeating the sign language her brother taught her from before saying “I want to go home”. Qian Jin returns and shoots her from behind through the chest. - Cheng, Qiao and Tianchen all run to save her. Qian Jin tries to shoot Qiao Ling as revenge for the slap but Cheng blocks him and gets shot instead. Lu Guang charges at Qian Jin. While Tianxi is dying she begs Tianchen to run away and he does. Qiao Ling tries to go after him since he’s a murderer but is held back by Tianxi. Due to this, as Tianxi dies her powers are transferred to Qiao Ling. Cheng, Lu and Xiao all fight in hand-to-hand combat against Qian Jin until reinforcements arrive. Afterwards, Cheng and Lu are readmitted to the hospital and treated. - Li Tianchen sits on a bench and once again meets his “friend” from his childhood, Liu Xiao who returned from abroad. He asks Tianchen to now join him in his quest to “Make uncertainties certain”. Tianchen doesn’t really feels like he has a choice and follows, leaving behind his mom’s phone and one of the last pieces of his childhood now that his sister is dead. - Once they get back from the hospital, the trio has cake. Lu Guang looks at Cheng and thinks about how he broke his own rules. We have no idea when or how long but at some point Cheng Xiaoshi gets killed. Similar to how Tianxi’s powers transferred to Qiao Ling, it appears like Cheng’s powers transferred to Lu Guang and this is his “last chance” to do things right. This could mean that the Lu Guang we’ve known the entire series and the one who met Cheng playing basketball is the one who dived from the future, or maybe he dived sometime later. This also means that this current Lu Guang may be able to dive into photos as well, and we’ve never seen it. Alright that’s the end of everything so far I think. I didn’t make this in one go I put it together while watching the series a second time through the reactions. There’s also some insane foreshadowing about Lu Guang from the 2 OPs and 2 EDs. I don't want any BS to happen with this anime. No scandals, no one passing away and no one getting fired and leaving. They clearly have a very long vision for the story and I hope they can complete it. S3 comes this October! P.S: Yes I have a life, this probably took me like an hour and a half total over the span of like 2 weeks. Had to break it up on YT thanks to character limit. Cheers.
Don't forget we still have the missing 7th muder case plot point from season one. Also from season one is how Emma was murdered in April, and yet the beginning of s1 ep3 states that a female body was found in September. There are many plot points still left unresolved which leads me to believe that this whole story has probably all been thought out already from start to finish. Crazy to think about.
I really really love this show. It's such a masterpiece and so underrated. Lu was such a hard ass about changing stuff and he cared about him enough to go back and save him ❤
if the brother finds out that lu guang changed the past to help cheng xiaoshi, and that they ended up in a new, different timeline where his sister died (which could’ve been avoided if the past didn’t change, we never know) he’s gonna hate him a LOT more, especially since he refused to help him even though he did that 😭😭 cheng xiaoshi’s probably gonna feel guilty and be pissed even though he would’ve done the same (which we saw him attempt) lmao
So he actually died in the original timeline in this episode. At some point when he gets shot, you can actually see/hear static on the screen, signifying the fact that the timeline/future was changed in that instance. You can see it when Qiao Ling sees the memories, CXS originally dies to the gunshot, transfers his power to LG, and then he goes back in time to try to save him. In episode 1 of season 2, when LG is stabbed he actually remarks that the timeline is changing, so in the original timeline CXS died at that point, which may also be the one you're talking about where they have their normal clothes on.
I think Cheng died pre season 1 since Lu has been acting weird since then, that's why since season 1 Lu kept letting Cheng get traumatized by different events to teach him that you can't change the past just so he doesn't do something that deviates from his plans. That might also why he seems to know more about powers than Cheng.
Since we're all caught up I wanted to spew theories on what is happening but.. there are a lotso I thought I'd share a funny one. Lu Guang took the picture in the hospital room for himself to go back into himself and act if he needed to with future Knowledge. (remember Cheng just "happened" to know LuGuang's phone's password, so maybe Lu Guang didn't take that picture for Cheng to use) But Lu Guang couldn't take go back because Cheng went back, and multiple people can't posses the same body it seems. So Lu Guang had to go back multiple times controlling different people to make sure Cheng (in lu guang's body) doesn't get caught, get him a boat, and arrive at the meeting point on time. :p Lu guang would be able to know the meeting point location because Cheng sent it to Qiao Ling before and shenanigan happened, and can see into the photo.
One of the best time travel shows. So many twists. We don't even know anything about Lu Guang's past or how many times he actually changed the past. In the end of S1, when Lu Guang was stabbed, he said "it's better for me to die" like maybe it's Cheng Xiaoshi who usually dies. Based on openings, I think it was more than once. I assume every changed past is a new parallel timeline and Lu Guang created too many of them so now the group that looks after it is here to fix it. Can't wait for the next season!

a small interesting add on with the s2 ending, if you ever watch the vortex MV at 18 seconds you can see multiple ways Cheng has died in other timelines. Watching back after seeing the ending for s2 there's definitely hints about the other timelines, such a cool series :D

We don't actually know the exact power of Liu Xiao, and while the chances of it being able to see the future is high, that's just a theory we formed base on how he talked about alternative universes and how LC has a pattern (S1 being past, S2 being present)

For those who don't understand the ending, in the "original" timeline Cheng died in Lu's arms and gave him his power to jump into photos as we've seen with Tianxin and Qiao Ling. Using that new power Lu Guang used an old picture BEFORE he knew Cheng to go back a long time ago and change everything. In episode 4 of S1 we see that Lu Guang suddenly appeared, just knowing how to befriend Cheng Xiaoshi as he was already friends with him in the original timeline. We also know that "death is a node that cannot be changed no matter what" proving that Lu Guand has seen and tried to stop Cheng's death more than once, how many times we do not know but in the new season character cards his age and Liu Xiao'sage are the only one marked as "???" meaning they may possibly be way older than they look as they have been dealing with time shenanigans. Reinforcing that idea is the fact that alot of people including Xiao Li see Lu Guang as way older than Cheng even though they "should" be the same age. This is proven by the fact that the scene of Cheng's death is the same as the one in the first episode of season 2 where they're wearing different clothes than this episode. If what we've seen and Lu Guang is right then Cheng's death is INEVITABLE, it is only possible to push it further back with every jump back in time. We now deal with the fact that the universe itself wants Cheng's death and only Lu Guang is stopping that from happening. The dialogue between Liu Xiao and Li Tianchen are cut in this reaction video but from it we can guess that Liu is some kind of "time police" stopping people from making new alternate timelines and keeping the original timeline as supreme. We can enhance this guess with the new season trailer where we can see that Liu already knows about Lu Guang and Cheng however it wouldn't make sense why he wouldn't just stop them immediately. There's some rumors that the Overseas Arc (where they got their power) is gonna come out as a 6 episode format this winter before having more episodes come out a few months later however nothing official yet. If you go back to listen to the lyrics of the Endings and Openings along with the other OSTs, alot of other informations can be found however we cannot be sure whether they are canon as some of them were made by the artists without the involvement of the author. PS: you might have seen my other comment but the next donghua Lord of the Mysteries is just as good if not better with foreshadowing along with other parts just as great. Like I said they cook every single episode, I can see why some people say it's not as good as season 1 but me personally its crazy how both seasons feel constantly amazing and don't stop
I'm glad we're getting season 3 next month because that cliffhanger was painful. Seems like Cheng dying is what gave Lu Guang his powers to go back to the past and try and save him. What's interesting is that scene when Lu Guang was stabbed in S2 ep1 and it showed his memory of Cheng dying with the screen getting distorted. I think maybe that was time 'fixing' itself again because at that moment, Lu Guang basically accepted that Cheng's death couldn't be avoided right before passing out.
Here's my theory. At some point in the past timelines, CX dies in LG's hands. His power jumps to LG. Then LG uses that power to go to the beginning, where he first met CX and to save him. This whole story, from S1 it was LG changing the past to save CX. And I figured out smt after watching again. LG says he wants to return to the beginning. Which is definitely where LG met CX. He came out of nowhere when CX was playing basketball. And LG says he STILL wanna use the last chance to save CX. I think this wasn't the only time he's creating a timeline where CX can be saved. In his flashbacks, if you look closely, when CX dies in his hands, he sees so many memories. So many frames. In some frames, LG can't even remember who's the person or what's happening anymore (like in Emma's case) because there're so many memories. And in some, LG is crying and screaming while holding CX body. I think CX has been dying in LG hands all the time. In one of the special MV for Vortex there's a scene showing the different ways CX died in past timelines. In one, he even hanged himself. LG was trying to save him all of those times, but the result was the same. But this time, LG is creating a timeline from the very beginning, where CX is safe, but if CX changes that time line too, his efforts would've ended up in vain. So he put a rule not to change the past, not to question the future. This is why he's panicking so much whenever the situation gets out of his hands (when CX went into the photo without LG assistant) and when CX life in danger (when Qian shots CX) he went into rage after CX got shot. I still can't figure out where the node LG is trying to change. Most likely, it'd be the ending of S1. I think in every past timeline, LG was saved. That could be why he's saying that if death can't be avoided, he's ready to die. Means CX was the one who died there, but this time it's LG. In the end, I think LG is pretty satisfied with the current timeline because CX is still alive, smiling. Idk if I'm ryt this is just my theory. And every time I think about this, I feel so bad for LG. Watching CX die in different ways and failing so many times, yet he's still going back to save him in a loop. But i think, no matter how many times LG is changing the death it cannot be avoided because he's saying that death is a an unavoidable node. But he still tries. Maybe this could be the last time LG is trying to save CX because he's trying so hard from the beginning, turning a blind eye to every other death just to save CX. The crazy thing is, LG's passwords is the day he went back to the beginning. Also i think Lu Min's brother, Liu Xiao knows about those powers and he wants to turn everything back to the original timeline where CX dies for sure. Later they revealed that LG & CX met Liu Xiao whlie they were on a trip when they were in high-school. Even that time, before meeting CX, LG had his powers, but they started the photoshop after they returned from that trip. That means most likely CX got his powers from the original power holder, when he somehow dies and power jumped to CX. This means from the beginning LG had to make this timeline so that this original power holder dies and to let the power jumped to CX. Otherwise LG cannot go back and save CX in the first place. I think Liu Xiao knows this whole thing somehow. S3 will be about the time period where they went this trip and meets this hat guy, unknowingly. And i think we'll get the answers to how CX got his powers from S3. I've waited more than a year until S2, but it was so worth it. I'll be waiting for S3 no matter how long it took because i know that it's gonna be a masterpiece just like this one for sure! And it's probably coming out this year! Here’s my theory based on the song XƎTЯOVerthink from the OST: I believe Cheng finds out the truth about Liu Xiao & his abilities. In the process he’s on death’s door. Lu Guang tries to save him, but Cheng stops him and tells him to bottle up all the regrets and make it a part of him. He tells Lu to go through everything then at the end reset the timeline. That’s why Lu Guang is strict on staying course. Like Eren Yeager, he has to continue or the worst ending will happen and he’s burdened with the memories of the past. The lyrics paints a picture of Lu Guang internally questioning his decisions, yet pushing forward. I also think the moment he goes into the past is some point in season 3 or later. I think Cheng dies, Lu gains the ability, Lu flee, and then he’s in the room where he went back. I think the change in Lu at the end where he’s stoic is because that moment where Cheng is shot reminded him of the time Cheng will get killed in the future and made him more focused on the mission at hand. My prediction for Liu Xian’s ability is that he can edit the situation in photos. For example, I think he could take a photo of Tianchen’s neighbor that Liu Min had then edit the timeline where he made rumors about his mom having an affair. That would create the inciting event that led his father to go crazy.

could it be that the time he actually died was a moment in the future and hes come back to try prevent it from happening? maybe hes had to come back to relive all of this in order to actually get to the moment he might be able to overcome what i feel is an inevitable event in time like that girl in the first series who nearly got saved but died anyway
I think the plot is possibly this. Somewhere in the future, Cheng dies. So LuGuang has tried many pictures but hasn't found a way to change the timeline. This timeline is the last picture he has left, as he says, " this is my last chance ". He doesn't want Cheng to change any of the past as he doesn't want him to make the future more unpredictable to change. The future being, Cheng's death. Luguang inherited the power to go into pictures from Cheng when he died in the future, just like Qiao ling inherited Li Tianxi's power. This means, Lu Guang has probably lived all of this before. And if he claps his hands, he will exit the picture himself. Crazy to think this was all actually foreshadowed in season 1 and season 2's start. And also in the OP of season 1. Epic writing. If the next season is well executed, this would be in top 5 anime ever, if not, then i would be extremely disappointed. There are still so many things that are confusing me, so much. I can't wait for season 3
What if the reason Cheng died is due to him changing the past, for example when they did the job for the guy who had regrets, instead of his mom, his first lover and her brother dying Cheng did something so they survived, same for Emma

No, the reason why Lu Guang knew where the boat was was because of Cheng Xiasho. He went back in time in Lu Guang's body and ran there like we saw in the previous episode.

Actually the thing is, that ability has a 12 hour cap which means once he enters the photo he has to return under 12 hours otherwise he'll stay inside that photo's timeline forever. That's what happened to lu guang, he is already inside the photo so he can't use his ability again

If you go back to the first episode of this season, you may notice that at the very beginning of the episode, when Lu Guang is stabbed, he sees the moment when Xiaoshi dies in his own arms and makes remarks about taking a gamble on whether or not the death can be changed. So it goes back a long way to change the past.

@@megancarvalho457 When you watch it for the first time, Lu Guang seems to be hallucinating in that episode, so this is a detail that no one will pay attention to, and if you don't see a comment like this one, you may never have learned it. Apart from the really visible plot twists, the author also added invisible plot twists to the series and this is incredible. When I think about this, so many ideas come to my mind. Of course, when it comes to link clicking, it is not what you think, but the last thing that comes to your mind that happens in the series. However, I think that in the first episodes of the next season, we will watch Lu Guang's journey to change the past, and then something will happen with the new rival character.

the twins awakened their powers at that moment and the sister was holding the picture of her and the mom, and using her powers to see what the mom was seeing. Then the brother touched the sister and was able to control the mom that way.

The show was well planned out, if you go back to season 2 ep 2, Cheng told Lu that Tianchen say he want to take his power and if Lu know anything about that. Lu responded with a no with a worried look as well as evidently hiding something.
If you notice, season 1 have characters whose power are tied to the past (but their powers can have an affect on the present via any to date picture or security camera. Also with an up to date photo , Lu power might extend to the future as his power allow him to see 12 hours ahead of the photo).
Season 2 we got characters whose powers are more tied to the present (Mainly Tianchen, Tianxi her power to see ones memories can extend to past but it is unknown if it is starting from time of the picture she looking at or from someone birth).
If this pattern continues season 3 we will get characters whose power are more directly related to the future.

I've been a believer in the time loop theory since day one. I think Lu Guang was just trying to save Cheng Xiaoshi from dying, which is why he was so strict about not changing or interfering with the dead. He believed it would ruin his plan to save Cheng Xiaoshi. Also, Lu Guang is already in the picture, which is why he can't use his ability to enter it again. And did you guys know? The Season 1 song 'Dive Back in Time'-this song was from Lu Guang's perspective, bruh!

in ep 1 of s2, as lu guang’s about to pass out from getting stabbed, he thinks something along the lines of “things are different/changing” and “if this is the price to pay, i dont mind” which makes me think that in the original timeline cheng xiaoshi got stabbed instead of lu guag, then he got his power, went back to change it (no way to guess how or when), and HE ended up being stabbed instead. even though he changed the past, he had no way of knowing if it would work (if cheng xiaoshi would still die in another way) nor that he could die in his stead. hence why he thinks “things are changing”, since HE didnt originally get stabbed (and we know he didnt because when we see him travel back to save cheng xiaoshi he was blood on his clothes, but not an injury. the blood was probably cheng xiaoshi’s since we know he held him as he was bleeding out and died) and then concludes that since death is a node in time that should not be changed, then maybe he got stabbed because by changing cheng xiaoshi’s death, there is still someone who needs to die in his place. so i think he essentially meant “if the price i have to pay to safe him is to die, then that’s fine” which makes sense. he thought he would die instead of him, and he was okay with it because his purpose was to save him in the first place.
i also personally think he doesn’t have cheng xiaoshi’s photo jumping power anymore, since he changed the future in which he got it. i think there’s a chance he changed what he needed to and when the future changed he lost it. i’m more certain about my first theory than this one though
I mean yes but I don’t think the death of Chen Xiaoshi happened in similar circumstances and because of the same person. Because Lu Guang really didn’t know about Qiao Ling being possessed or the powers of the twins. So I think he changed the timeline so much new variables appeared and he can’t anticipate it anymore. If we assume he went back to the point they first met (Qiao Ling talking about how he magically appeared one day and him saying to go back to the beginning + the fact that S1 he is the one teaching how the powers work) he could have changed a lot of things. Maybe even the paranormal studio didn’t exist in the previous timelines since he didn’t know the clients and their problems, if it was the case he would know how to solve it without even using the pictures or what CXS was gonna do.
And for your second point I think it’s simpler than that : since Lu Guang clapped to go in the past, if he clap again he would just exit the photo. Just like we never saw CXS entering a photo inside a photo 🤗

Yeah that does make sense. And that would explain why Lu was so uneasy when he was at the hospital, because he thought he was supposed to die but when he didn't he was still worried about what would happen to Chen. Also when he saw Chen getting shot, he thought that he was dying again anyway and that all he did was for nothing as he can't change Chen's death, that's why he lose it for a moment. Even when Chen was trying to catch the brother on the boat, he went in his stead to avoid him getting taken away and potentially killed.
You got it! in another timeline Chen Xiaoshi died and his power transferred to Lu Guang, so he used photos to go back to the past and save him. We don’t know how many photos he had but there are theories that he failed several times to save him, that’s why it’s his last chance, last photo. So maybe there is a « fate » factor and Chen Xiaoshi is not safe yet…
Also it’s safe to assume that in the timeline we followed since S1 he can’t use Chen Xiaoshi’s power anymore because he is basically in a photo so by clapping he would just exit it.
Fun to notice they teased us since long ago by saying Lu Guang is like a old man when he speaks, he must be old in fact if he lived in this photo since they first met + other timelines where he failed

Here is a sort of chronological timeline for the events we know so far from the first 2 seasons that I made just to properly lay everything out and wrap my head around the events and motivations of the characters. Especially since seasons 1 and 2 are very different but at the same time very strongly connected. Genius anime and best time travel anime imo. Let me know if there’s anything big I missed and I can add it in:
- ???? Sept 13th (12:05 am): At an unknown year that is blurred out, on September 13th Lu Guang uses Cheng Xiaoshi’s abilities to dive back in time and change the past. He says this is his “last chance to return to the beginning”. It seems that Cheng Xiaoshi died in this timeline and her abilities got transferred to Lu Guang.
- *Dive 3* Earliest event so far is Siwen climbing the stairs for an unspecified amount of time (Probably around 30-50 years) to challenge his lover’s father.
- *Dive 2* Photo dives for the restaurants of the noodle ladies, likely ranging a few decades prior to Ep 1.
- Sometime in the 2000s: Qian Jin becomes a prominent police officer with a good reputation. He is partnered with Xiao Li, who is later known as Captain Xiao.
- Qian Jin eventually mentors Chen Bin and becomes close with both him and Xiao Li. Outside of work, Qian Jin grows paranoid and becomes suspicious of his wife having an affair with her fellow acting colleague, Zhuang Shuai. He becomes obsessive over it and Chen Bin takes notice. The final straw was when he believed they were lying about checking out a venue in a location where it wouldn’t make much sense.
- Qian Jin murders his wife and covers it up, in part due to Xiao Li’s trust of Qian being extremely righteous. Qian Jin questions to Xiao Li what all his hard work and life is even for if he can’t even keep his wife loyal. Xiao Li tells Qian that his wife was pregnant when she died, making him believe even further that she was having an affair since he never knew. He laughs maniacally
- Sometime in the 2000s at a similar time range: Li Tianchen/Li Tianxi’s mother meets with Mr. Zhou, Tianxi’s teacher about how to help Tianxi the most. She says she’s thinking about getting a divorce which Tianxi overhears, making her cry thinking that her mom doesn’t want her. Tianxi’s mom says that she’s never going to leave or separate from her Dad, and just to never repeat that again.
- Similar to the two birds spouting shit to the dad wolf in the story, Deng the twins’ neighbour starts spreading rumours with the security guard about the twins’ mother having an affair with the school teacher Mr. Zhou. Tianchen overhears them and hates them with a passion.
- When losing his ball in a fountain, Tianchen tries to recover it but doesn’t want to get wet or dirty. A person jumps into the fountain and gets the ball for him, instilling in him the philosophy of having courage, not being afraid, and being a “hunter”. He comes friends with this person, who ends up being Liu Xiao, son of Liu Jing the CEO of Quede Games, and the younger brother of Liu Min, the blonde antagonist.
- 6 Months After Qian Jin’s Wife’s Murder **Dive 12** : Future Cheng dives into Tianxi’s body and goes out with her mother. While trying to win a plushy they run into Deng the neighbour. On the way home Tianchen yells and pushes Deng away, since he has an intense hatred for him for spreading rumours about their family. Tianchen says he hates people like that. Tianchen then reminds Tianxi about the sign language for “I want to go home”. The twins’ father goes insane over the plushy and camera, thinking that his wife is cheating on him and beats his wife to near death. Tianchen remembers what Liu Xiao said to him and decides to be courageous, getting hit with a hammer in the process. The twins’ powers awaken, and together they control their mom through the photo of her and Tianxi. The result is that both of their parents die. The police who were called by Deng when Tianxi knocked on his door come to the crime scene.
- One of the police officers is Qian Jin, who meets the twins for the first time at the crime scene and hugs them. Tianchen laughs maniacally similar to Qian Jin which reminds him of himself and they both begin laughing insanely while Tianxi cries. Qian Jin covers up the info on the twins and gives Tianchen his first hit, Zhuang Shuai. Tianchen and Tianxi together dives into Zhuang’s body and make him hang himself.
- Qian Jin quits the force after rumours start spreading that the “suicide” had something to do with him. He becomes a lawyer for the Liu Jing family.
- Late 2007-early 2008: Cheng Xiaoshi’s parents leave for a trip and don't return. Cheng and Qiao Ling have already been childhood friends, so Qiao Ling’s dad lends Cheng 10 years of rent which he will pay off after that when he’s an adult.
- May 2008 **Dive 4** : The concept of “nodes” is introduced. Most changes made wouldn’t matter because all the relevant people end up dying in the earthquake so the timeline is preserved. Cheng Xiaoshi dives into Chen Xiao’s body and wins the basketball game as well as learns that the gym is going to close down either way. He delivers heartfelt messages from Chen Xiao in the future to his captain, lover and mom. He tries altering the timeline but Lu Guang lightly manipulates him into letting things play out as they should. Earthquake happens and a young Cheng goes to see a young Qiao’s house crying worried that his parents died in the event.
- Mid 2010s: Cheng Xiaoshi has developed skills and a love for basketball. Sometime in high school Cheng Xiaoshi meets Lu Guang on the court and asks him to join in and play.
- Mid 2010s: Sometime later (Likely still in high school), Lu Guang passes by the photo studio while Cheng and Qiao are painting it and says hello to Cheng. Qiao Ling convinces Lu Guang to help them out and thus the beginning of their long friendship begins. Lu says he was drawn to being Cheng’s friend because he was quite “naive”.
- The trio attend college in Guidu, which is likely where they met and became friends with Xu Shanshan and Dong Yi (They may have all met somehow before but it’s unclear).
- At some point, Qian Jin and Tianchen meet with Liu Min for the first time. Liu Min remarks that Tianchen looks familiar, possibly because he say him hanging out with his brother at some point. Liu Min wants them to put an end to the internet trolls who have been attacking him online. Tianchen checks who the first target is, and laughs maniacally as it’s Deng their former neighbour. Tianchen feels like this is poetic justice since although it was his Dad who caused the family problems, it was Deng and the security guards who were the birds chirping in his dad’s ears making him go insane. Together, Qian, Min, and Tianchen laugh together insanely once more and begin their friendship. This is the start of a string of serial murders.
- Mid 2010s Sometime (Maybe) **Dive 11** : Future Cheng dives into Chen Bin’s body on the day his phone wallpaper photo was taken, which was the day him and his wife got their marriage certificate. He makes a ring out of a dandelion and proposes, apologizing for his inability to stay by her side, he thanks her for forgiving his frequent absences. He pledges love and protection not only for the rest of this life, but also across the span of their future lives to come, and asks if she is willing to marry him in all subsequent existences. She teases that she can’t refuse now that they have their marriage certificate and jokes that his chances of marrying her in the next life will depend on his performance then
- 2018? (3 Years ago and since present day is 2021…): Sometime during dollege Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang travel overseas together for a trip -> THIS IS GOING TO BE SHOWN IN SEASON 3 THIS OCTOBER 8 EPISODES.
- While Cheng and Lu are on vacation, Future Cheng from *Dive 6* dives into Doudou and is kidnapped by the human trafficking bitch. Qiao and Xu walk by while noticing Doudou being taken away.
- **Dive 5** : Future Cheng dives back in time through the security camera so his whole body is in the past. While chasing after the bitch he runs into Qiao and Xu from the past and ends up distracting Qiao from Doudou being kidnapped, as she is wondering why Cheng isn’t overseas. Future Cheng wakes up in a motel in Doudou’s body and attempts to get the kidnapper’s ID while noticing religious and spiritual items. Cheng fights off the kidnapper in Doudou’s body while using the martial arts learned from Master Siwen. He uses the kidnapper’s spiritual beliefs against her telling her she’ll go to hell if she doesn’t take care of Doudou for the next 3 years. After Doudou begins crying and acting like a kid again she believes that he was actually possessed by the spirits of her ancestors and beings taking care of Doudou.
- 2019? (Dong and Xu finished “2 years of post-grad” in 2021 so…): All 5 friends graduate together from Guidu. Emma joins Quede games and notices the accounts are being embezzled.
- At some unspecified point, Cheng and Lu obtained or learned of their time-photo abilities and opened up an investigation business from the photo studio in order to pay back Cheng’s rent to Qiao’s dad. Lu is just helping him out because he’s good friends with Cheng and Qiao it seems but it’s not specified. No one knows about their powers but them. It’s unclear how many times they dive before Episode 1 of Season 1 but they build a reputation as reliable people who can perform investigative tasks with photos. Rumours start to spread about them having magical or mystical abilities. Lu Guang tells Cheng 3 rules for whenever they dive: 1) Only 12 hours to complete the task. 2) Follow Lu Guang’s instructions so he doesn’t alter the past. 3) Leave the past and future be.

- 2021 April 13th (10 pm) to 2021 April 14th (10 am) **Dive 1** : Cheng dives into Emma’s body and lives her life for the next 12 hours. He dodges sexual harassment by Mr. Zhu, the guy in charge of the financial data that he needs to steal. Emma’s parents text her and Lu Guang tells Cheng not to look at it because he knows that Cheng is emotional and impulsive (He also feels the emotions of the person so it’s not just him). Cheng can’t resist and messages “I miss you” to Emma’s parents altering the past. The timeline is still preserved however since Emma is destined to die anyway. On the 14th Cheng spills coffee through Emma’s body onto Zhu and gets to view the financial data for the job. Emma is used as the scapegoat and fired from her job.
- 2021 April 16th (10 pm) to 2021 April 17th (10 am): Cheng and Lu get a job to gather financial data from Quede Games before the 3rd quarter financial report. Cheng dives into Emma’s body and returns at 10 am on the 17th (Dive 1).
- 2021 April 17th (After 10 am): Emma’s boss Mr. Zhu is arrested for embezzlement. Due to the message Cheng sent, Emma’s parents came by to drop her mom’s homemade spring rolls since they thought Emma was feeling lonely. Emma gets emotional and goes to meet her parents. Liu Min plans to go after Emma for ruining his company. While on her way to meet her parents Emma bumps into Liu Min who offers her a ride.
- **Dive 8** Future Cheng solo dives through the security camera into the parking lot where Liu Min takes Emma into his car and hides in the trunk. Liu Min stops the car and strangles Emma to almost death before hearing Cheng scream from guilt in the trunk. When he opens the trunk Cheng dives out of the security footage.
- 2021 April 17th (11:35 pm) to 2021 April 18th (Sunrise): Liu Min comes to his senses and begins driving to take Emma to the hospital but Emma regains consciousness and crashes the car in an attempt to escape, paralyzing Liu Min. Emma becomes suicidal and almost jumps off a nearby bridge.
- 2021 April 17th (?) or 18th: Liu Min is taken to the hospital after the car crash. His father Liu Jing, gets Qian to “take care” of Emma with Tianchen.
- **Dive 10** : Future Cheng who dove through the security footage comes to talk her out of it. He uses all his past diving experiences to give her hope and save her life, telling her that he knows what she’s been through. Li Tianchen takes over Emma’s body and meets Cheng Xiaoshi for the first time, remarking that there’s a witness this time for his body-snatching murders. He jumps off the bridge in Emma’s body before diving out, killing Emma.
- 2021 April 19th: Cheng sees the news about the Quede Games embezzlement scandal on the news seeing that their Emma-diving mission went well. Lu Guang see’s the news about Emma’s corpse being found and stays silent.
- 2021 Sometime Between April 19th and Early October (Unspecified): Cheng and Lu get a client asking to find the secret recipe for the noodles of a noodle restaurant she and her partner owned before her partner bailed (Dive 2).
- 2021 Sometime Between April 19th and Early October (Unspecified): Qiao joins a dojo to learn self-defence and meets Master Siwen who tells her the story about his quest to marry the girl he loves. Cheng and Lu dive to learn the father’s secret move and fail (Dive 3). Cheng and Lu help Siwen finally win her father’s approval. Cheng, Lu and Qiao all begin training martial arts from master Siwen.
- 2021 Late September/Early October: Cheng develops Chen Xiao’s photos from 2008 after being asked by him.
- 2021 Oct ?: Qiao Ling hears on the radio that there’s been a string of serial murders while Chen Xiao approaches her about the basketball/earthquake case. Cheng Xiaoshi dives into Chen Xiao’s younger body in 2008 to deliver his 3 messages (Dive 4).
- Cheng and Lu Guang don’t talk for days due to Cheng being traumatized by the pain of everyone dying from the earthquake and mad at Lu Guang for lying to him.
- 2021 Oct ?: Captain Xiao first meet the trio and approach them about the Doudou case.
- 2021 Oct 12th: Captain Xiao noticed the file on the 7th victim missing and blames Chen Bin. Chen Bin also helps Doudou’s father get security camera footage that is passed to Cheng, Lu, and Qiao to use for diving.
- 2021 Oct 14th: Cheng dives into the security camera footage to save Doudou but is startled and runs into Qiao and Xu from 3 years prior when he is supposed to be overseas. (Dive 5).
- 2021 Oct 14th: Cheng dives again but this time into Doudou’s body and is successful (Dive 6).
- 2021 Oct. ?: Doudou reunion with family and kidnapper arrested. Captain Xiao approaches the trio with Emma’s murder case but Lu Guang refuses before Cheng notices.
- 2021 Oct 19th **Dive 7** : Future Cheng dives into Xu Shanshan as she had too much to drink and can’t remember what Dong Yi said to her at a party that is vital to their relationship. He sees who he thinks is the serial killer and follows them before apprehending them.
- 2021 Oct 20th: Xu posts a photo of her and Qiaoling before going to ask Cheng and Lu to help her finds out what Dong said to her. Cheng dives into Xu’s body and Lu Guang gets the information they need. Lu Guang messages the information to Xu (Dive 7).
- 2021 Oct 20st **Dive 9** : While Xu is in bed that night, Cheng dives into Xu Shanshan. He confronts Li Tianchen who is inhabiting Liu Min’s body and intrigues him by challenging him to a game. He says he left a clue at 10am. Tianchen theorizes that this may be the same person whom he saw on the bridge through Emma’s body and is intrigued. He agrees to play along.
- 2021 Oct 21st: Xu’s photo appears in the paper and Dong waits for Xu outside his job interview building. Tianchen calls the trio. Lu Guang goes to police station to provide them with the LIu Min’s plates, who has been a suspect in the serial murders.
- 2021 Oct 21st: Cheng XIaoshi solo dives into the surveillance camera shot of April 17th through his computer to when Liu Min is taking Emma away. Qiao Ling sees him return and learns of their powers (Dive 8).
- 2021 Oct 21st: Captain Xiao and Chen Bin visit Liu Min’s house and learn that he’s paralyzed. At 10am Qiao Ling messages Xu Shanshan’s phone which Tianchen/Min has, which is the clue Cheng said he’d give. Cheng then preps the dark photo room for his plan to trap the killer. At 4pm Cheng dives into Xu’s body to confront the killer (Dive 9).
- 2021 Oct 22nd (1:20 am): Killer arrives at the studio and is led into the dark room by a voice recording Cheng previously set up. Lu Guang runs and locks the killer in the photo room. Cheng dives back from Dive 9 and traps the killer in the room with him, surrounded by photos. Cheng fights the killer and gets him to confess, allowing the police to come and arrest him. Tianchen dives out of Liu Min. Cheng asks Chen Bin for footage of Emma to stop her from jumping off the bridge (Dive 10). Li Tianchen uses a photo of Qiao Ling that Xu took of them both to take over Qiao Ling, as he was in possession of Xu’s phone (Also the photo was posted on her moments but I think the show forgot about that, or the character of Tianchen didn’t check Xu’s social media and went straight for her phone gallery). Tianchen stabs Lu Guang in Qiao Ling’s body.
- 2021 Oct 22nd (5:50 am): Cheng exits his dive after witnessing Emma be taken over by Tianchen in the past and die. He notices Lu Guang passed out bleeding on the couch and Qiao Ling being taken over by the killer (Tianchen) with the knife in hand. The two of them fight and Cheng disarms the killer using the martial arts taught by Siwen. Cheng gains valuavle information about the killer at this point such as them having an ability to tell lies somehow, and their ability also having to do with photos. He also learned that the killer wants to steal Cheng’s ability somehow. The killer notably also remarks that Cheng cheated last time with the photo room plan and tells him not to do it again. After the police come into the studio, Tianchen leaves Qiao Ling’s body leaving looking guilty for stabbing Lu Guang. Cheng takes the knife and gets taken into custody to avoid Qiao taking any blame.
- 2021 Oct 22nd (6 am to 7:55 pm): Cheng is detained and questioned but no one believes him and he has to wait until Xiao and Chen Bin are able to get him out. He is lied about Lu Guang not surviving the operation for Lu’s protection. Lu Guang survives the operation and is transferred to a special ward. Siwen and Ouyang come to help the trio and register Lu Guang to the hospital under Ouyang’s father’s name.
- 2021 Oct 22nd 7:55 pm: Chen Bin picks Cheng Xiaoshi up from jail.
- Liu Min dies and Chen Bin contacts the Liu family letting them know. Liu Jing the father doesn’t care about Liu Min dying and just wants his phone to be recovered since it has valuable data on the company and family. He sends Qian Jin to recover the phone. Qian Jin visits Chen Bin’s wife with his goon Ma. Ma plants evidence so when Chen Bin eventually gets murdered, it will look like he was a dirty cop taking bribes. When they leave they take a photo of Chen Bin for the twins to use.
- 2021 Oct 22nd 8:20 pm: Chen Bin gets a call from his wife that Qian Jin are at his house to see him. Chen Bin and Cheng Xiaoshi arrive at the special ward where Lu Guang is and Cheng changes. At the same time, Qian Jin gives the stolen photo of Chen Bin to Tianchen, and he holds Tianxi’s hand using both of their powers to possess Chen Bin.
- 2021 Oct 22nd night: Cheng learns Lu is still alive. Cheng, Lu, Qiao and Xiao all discuss information and what to do further while Tianchen listens to everything through Chen Bin’s body. They discuss the killer’s motive and abilities as well as precautions against him.
- 2021 Oct 22nd 8:44pm: The trio decide to look at Liu Min’s confiscated phone for clues about the killer. Once they get the phone from Chen Bin they notice that it’s not Liu Min’s phone, but Chen’s phone instead. Chen runs out of the room and Xiao goes chasing after him. The possessed Chen gives the phone to Ma. Tianxi gets overwhelmed by Chen’s memories and by what they’re doing, realizing they’re doing actually what happened to then. Unable to leave another daughter without a parent and destroy another family like how there’s way destroyed, Tianxi breaks off the connection and runs out of the van away from Qian and Tianchen. Tianchen chases after Tianxi, and Qian Jin sends goons to the hospital to help Ma since the connection was now broken. While Siwen, Ouyang and her father are leaving the hospital after helping the trio out they notice a lot of goons and decide to check back in with Cheng and the others. Ma pushes Chen Bin off the roof since he’s no longer possessed.
- Tianxi runs into Siwen and the others and drops her photo. Tianchen runs past them and gets stopped by Ouyang’s dad, giving him the photo. He points them in the wrong direction and runs to the real direction of the ward. He takes Liu Min’s phone from Ma, making Ma think that he was sent by Qian Jin to keep the phone safe.
- Xiao witnesses Chen Bin’s death from being pushed off the roof by Ma.
- Cheng and Qiao split up looking for anyone responsible in the hospital while being directed by Lu Guang. They both get into a 2 v 1 against Ma and take him down. His goons show up but they are all taken out by Ouyan’s father, who finally arrives at the ward with his daughter and Siwen. The police reinforcements arrive and take everyone into custody. Tianchen goes to Lu Guang’s ward and gives him the last photo of their mother.
- The goons, Cheng, Qiao and Xiao go to the police station and Cheng calls Lu Guang to check in.
- 2021 Oct 23rd Morning/Afternoon: Cheng Bin and Liu Min’s funeral are held in the same location. Chen Bin’s wife arrives at the funeral in her wedding dress since they were never able to have their wedding, bringing everyone to tears. Xiao, Cheng and Qiao come into contact with Liu Jing, his wife and Qian Jin for the first time. Xiao and Qian have a tense confrontation and Cheng swings at Liu Jing after he insults Chen Bin. Cheng’s punch is caught by Qian Jin but Qiao Ling slaps him hard across the face, which he’ll remember for a while.
- 2021 Oct 23rd Late Afternoon: Cheng returns to Lu Guang’s room and wants to help Chen Bin and his wife by giving them some happiness in a way that wouldn’t change the timeline. Lu Guang agrees and they use Chen Bin’s wallpaper to dive to the day Chen and his wife got their marriage certificate. (Dive 11).
- 2021 Oct 24th: Lu Guang’s birthday. Xiao asks Lu Guang what happened when Tianchen appeared at the ward, since he has security footage of it but Lu Guang wasn’t disclosing the information. He shows them the photo but says he can’t see too far into it like he usually can because of his injuries. Cheng dives into the photo as Tianxi (Dive 12).
- 2021 Oct 24th Late Afternoon: Tianchen tells Qian Jin his plan to kidnap Cheng Xiaoshi and find his sister Tianxi. They want to use Cheng’s powers to change the past for both of them. Qian briefs him on the getaway and drops him at the police station where Tianchen impersonates his sister. Cheng learns all about Tianxi and Tianchen’s past from diving into the photo and notices some strange interference in his powers and connection with Lu Guang that happened when the brother touched him. Cheng gets completely kicked out of the photo when Tianchen uses his powers in combination with Tianxi’s for the first time, but he gets to see through their Mom’s POV for a second before getting kicked out.
- 2021 Oct 24th Early Evening: Cheng and everyone gets notified by Wang Juan that someone claiming to know all about the murders is at the police station and will only speak with Cheng Xiaoshi. Cheng, Qiao and Xiao leave for the station. Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianchen have their very first in-person meeting, although Tianchen is pretending to be his sister Tianxi.
- 2021 Oct 24th 6:42 pm **Dive 13** : Lu Guang takes a photo of the view from outside his window. It appears as if Lu Guang is taking it for the purpose of allowing Cheng from the future the ability to dive into his body. Future Cheng follows through and dives into Lu Guang’s body, following the actions that Lu Guang took in the future he was from. He texts Qiao Ling the waterway location of where current Cheng is being taken.
- Cheng and Tianchen have a discussion, and remarks that Cheng cheated last time so he doesn’t trust him. Cheng says he doesn’t have anything other than his phone on him, knowing that he has a bug and that the police is listening in. Tianchen touches Cheng and is able to control him, asking him to go out. Wang Juan appears saying she’ll go with “her”, but Tianchen asks how she would appear so suddenly if they weren’t being listened in on. Tianchen then touches both Cheng and Wang Juan, controlling both of them and leaving the station. The 3 of them get to the entrance and the security guard lets them leave after the controlled Wang Juan says they’re getting something to eat. Qiao and Xaio get to the entrance as well and Xiao goes in the direction of where Tianchen and the others went, using the tracker in the bug that’s on Cheng.
- 2021 Oct 24th 6:55 pm: “Lu Guang” recreates the events that happened and breaks the window while going to hide in the bathroom. He sends Qiao Ling the riverfront address.
- 2021 Oct 24th 7pm: Qian Jin sends his goons to attack the police.
- Qiao Ling checks her phone and sees the message from “Lu Guang” earlier and heads for the waterway.
- Wang Juan is left handcuffed to a pole and Tianchen takes Cheng to one of Qian Jin’s goons, who finds and destroys the tracking bug. Xiao finds Wang Juan and confirms it’s her with her officer number. Wang Juan fights off Ma and other goons but is critically injured and almost killed by a surprise bat to the head by Qian Jin. Qian Jin tells Ma that Wang Juan worked on the force with him and was known for her combat ability. Xiao fights and defeats the big goon and then goes to check on Wang Juan but sees her bleeding unconscious and screams.
- Tianchen and Cheng arrive at the waterway right before Qiao Ling and “Lu Guang”. “Lu Guang” drives a boat into the one that Tianchen is about to board and jumps onto Cheng, disconnecting him from Tianchen’s contact control. “Lu Guang” fights off Tianchen’s attempts to touch both him and Cheng with a surprise display of fighting and martial arts. “Lu Guang” is about to change the future from what he witnessed, by not following Tianchen and being caught, thus saving Lu Guang from being captured. However, current Cheng runs after Tianchen. To prevent Tianchen from getting his powers, “Lu Guang” rushes first and gets caught, thus fulfilling the future he saw anyways. This likely means that the future is predetermined and there are no alternate timelines as of yet in the story. Future Cheng Xiaoshi gets kicked out of Lu Guang’s body and Tianchen takes Lu as a hostage. Xiao takes Wang Juan back to the station and puts out a warrant for “Li Tianxi”, as everyone believes the killer is Tianxi and not her brother due to him impersonating her.
- After returning to the station, Cheng, Xiao and Qiao look for clues about what happened to Lu Guang as they’re confused on what his planning and thinking were. They find Lu Guang’s phone and see the photo he took of the window. Together they deduce that the “Lu Guang” at the waterfront wasn’t Lu Guang at all but in fact Cheng in Lu’s body. It made more sense to them seeing the fighting skills Lu Guang was displaying, which he never displayed at Siwen’s training. The police find the real Li Tianxi. Qiao Ling convinces Cheng to dive and repeat the events in Lu Guang’s body, saying that she believes the future is predetermined. Cheng agrees and dives (Dive 13).
- Qiao Ling talks to Tianxi and learns about both twins’ powers. They find out that it was the brother who they met before, Tianchen. Qian Jin learns that Tianchen failed and captured Lu Guang instead of Cheng, who they don’t care about since they want Cheng’s diving abilities. While Tianchen helps Lu Guang change, Cheng and Qiao get Tianxi to see where/how Lu Guang is doing. She is too upset to continue.
- 2021 Oct 25th 2:25 am: Qian Jin constructs a thorough plan with his knowledge and intelligence of the police force and gets Tianchen to call the police offering a hostage trade. They demand that Qiao Ling be the one to come with Cheng since Qian Jin remembers the slap she gave him. Cheng creates a plan to escape after the trade using his diving abilities by diving into the police footage on Xiao’s phone and diving back when the trade is done (Dive 14).
- 2021 Oct 25th 3 am **Dive 14** : Cheng and Qiao go to the theatre with Tianxi and the captain outside in the car monitoring. Qian Jin makes Cheng and Qiao change before turning off the metal detector and making them walk through it. This way, they wouldn’t suspect that their new clothes were bugged with trackers. Qian and Tianchen knew that Cheng would rely too much on his ability like he has before, so they arranged for explosives to go off in the theatre and for Ma to be in the car and follow Cheng’s new position when he escapes. Lu and Cheng exchange places, saving Lu Guang. The lights go out and a trap door opens making Cheng Xiaoshi and Li Tianchen meet once again, this time without disguises. Cheng dives back to escape and ends up in the car. Explosives go off and Ma tases Xiao, Cheng and Tianxi, capturing the latter two.
- After the fallout of the explosives, Lu, Qiao and Xiao deduce that Qiao, Tianchen and Ma likely escaped to the underground railway, so they set off to cover the north and south.
- Qian, Cheng, Tianchen, Tianxi and Ma have a confrontation in the sewer. Qian says he wants Cheng to go back and fix things with his wife. Cheng asks if the person who gave Lu Guang the photo was Tianchen or Tianxi, and Tianchen confirms it was him. Qian Jin acts confused like he doesn’t know that Tianchen had Liu Min’s phone, but Ma exposes him on accident which leads to Ma getting shot. Everyone is now hostile with each other so Tianchen brings up the fact that Qian’s wife never cheated. Ma attacks Qian Jina and the two run away from the others fighting. Lu Guang, Xiao Li and Qiao Ling hear the gun shots and run towards Cheng. Tianchen tries to grab Cheng once again and the two start fighting. Lu Guang arrives to get Tianchen away from Cheng but Tianchen tases him and takes him into a choke hold, threatening to kill him. Qiao Ling shows up as well. Tianxi speaks for the first time in years, repeating the sign language her brother taught her from before saying “I want to go home”. Qian Jin returns and shoots her from behind through the chest.
- Cheng, Qiao and Tianchen all run to save her. Qian Jin tries to shoot Qiao Ling as revenge for the slap but Cheng blocks him and gets shot instead. Lu Guang charges at Qian Jin. While Tianxi is dying she begs Tianchen to run away and he does. Qiao Ling tries to go after him since he’s a murderer but is held back by Tianxi. Due to this, as Tianxi dies her powers are transferred to Qiao Ling. Cheng, Lu and Xiao all fight in hand-to-hand combat against Qian Jin until reinforcements arrive. Afterwards, Cheng and Lu are readmitted to the hospital and treated.
- Li Tianchen sits on a bench and once again meets his “friend” from his childhood, Liu Xiao who returned from abroad. He asks Tianchen to now join him in his quest to “Make uncertainties certain”. Tianchen doesn’t really feels like he has a choice and follows, leaving behind his mom’s phone and one of the last pieces of his childhood now that his sister is dead.
- Once they get back from the hospital, the trio has cake. Lu Guang looks at Cheng and thinks about how he broke his own rules. We have no idea when or how long but at some point Cheng Xiaoshi gets killed. Similar to how Tianxi’s powers transferred to Qiao Ling, it appears like Cheng’s powers transferred to Lu Guang and this is his “last chance” to do things right. This could mean that the Lu Guang we’ve known the entire series and the one who met Cheng playing basketball is the one who dived from the future, or maybe he dived sometime later. This also means that this current Lu Guang may be able to dive into photos as well, and we’ve never seen it.
Alright that’s the end of everything so far I think. I didn’t make this in one go I put it together while watching the series a second time through the reactions. There’s also some insane foreshadowing about Lu Guang from the 2 OPs and 2 EDs. I don't want any BS to happen with this anime. No scandals, no one passing away and no one getting fired and leaving. They clearly have a very long vision for the story and I hope they can complete it. S3 comes this October!

Don't forget we still have the missing 7th muder case plot point from season one. Also from season one is how Emma was murdered in April, and yet the beginning of s1 ep3 states that a female body was found in September.
There are many plot points still left unresolved which leads me to believe that this whole story has probably all been thought out already from start to finish. Crazy to think about.

if the brother finds out that lu guang changed the past to help cheng xiaoshi, and that they ended up in a new, different timeline where his sister died (which could’ve been avoided if the past didn’t change, we never know) he’s gonna hate him a LOT more, especially since he refused to help him even though he did that 😭😭 cheng xiaoshi’s probably gonna feel guilty and be pissed even though he would’ve done the same (which we saw him attempt) lmao
Bonus fact: Lu Guang traveled in time on 09/13 at 00-05, that is, today.
So he actually died in the original timeline in this episode. At some point when he gets shot, you can actually see/hear static on the screen, signifying the fact that the timeline/future was changed in that instance. You can see it when Qiao Ling sees the memories, CXS originally dies to the gunshot, transfers his power to LG, and then he goes back in time to try to save him. In episode 1 of season 2, when LG is stabbed he actually remarks that the timeline is changing, so in the original timeline CXS died at that point, which may also be the one you're talking about where they have their normal clothes on.

I think Cheng died pre season 1 since Lu has been acting weird since then, that's why since season 1 Lu kept letting Cheng get traumatized by different events to teach him that you can't change the past just so he doesn't do something that deviates from his plans. That might also why he seems to know more about powers than Cheng.
That's why we having a prequel this October, but still can't wait for s3 next year

Since we're all caught up I wanted to spew theories on what is happening but.. there are a lotso I thought I'd share a funny one.
Lu Guang took the picture in the hospital room for himself to go back into himself and act if he needed to with future Knowledge. (remember Cheng just "happened" to know LuGuang's phone's password, so maybe Lu Guang didn't take that picture for Cheng to use)
But Lu Guang couldn't take go back because Cheng went back, and multiple people can't posses the same body it seems. So Lu Guang had to go back multiple times controlling different people to make sure Cheng (in lu guang's body) doesn't get caught, get him a boat, and arrive at the meeting point on time. :p
Lu guang would be able to know the meeting point location because Cheng sent it to Qiao Ling before and shenanigan happened, and can see into the photo.
One of the best time travel shows. So many twists. We don't even know anything about Lu Guang's past or how many times he actually changed the past. In the end of S1, when Lu Guang was stabbed, he said "it's better for me to die" like maybe it's Cheng Xiaoshi who usually dies. Based on openings, I think it was more than once. I assume every changed past is a new parallel timeline and Lu Guang created too many of them so now the group that looks after it is here to fix it. Can't wait for the next season!

a small interesting add on with the s2 ending, if you ever watch the vortex MV at 18 seconds you can see multiple ways Cheng has died in other timelines. Watching back after seeing the ending for s2 there's definitely hints about the other timelines, such a cool series :D

For those who don't understand the ending, in the "original" timeline Cheng died in Lu's arms and gave him his power to jump into photos as we've seen with Tianxin and Qiao Ling.
Using that new power Lu Guang used an old picture BEFORE he knew Cheng to go back a long time ago and change everything. In episode 4 of S1 we see that Lu Guang suddenly appeared, just knowing how to befriend Cheng Xiaoshi as he was already friends with him in the original timeline.
We also know that "death is a node that cannot be changed no matter what" proving that Lu Guand has seen and tried to stop Cheng's death more than once, how many times we do not know but in the new season character cards his age and Liu Xiao'sage are the only one marked as "???" meaning they may possibly be way older than they look as they have been dealing with time shenanigans. Reinforcing that idea is the fact that alot of people including Xiao Li see Lu Guang as way older than Cheng even though they "should" be the same age. This is proven by the fact that the scene of Cheng's death is the same as the one in the first episode of season 2 where they're wearing different clothes than this episode. If what we've seen and Lu Guang is right then Cheng's death is INEVITABLE, it is only possible to push it further back with every jump back in time. We now deal with the fact that the universe itself wants Cheng's death and only Lu Guang is stopping that from happening.
The dialogue between Liu Xiao and Li Tianchen are cut in this reaction video but from it we can guess that Liu is some kind of "time police" stopping people from making new alternate timelines and keeping the original timeline as supreme. We can enhance this guess with the new season trailer where we can see that Liu already knows about Lu Guang and Cheng however it wouldn't make sense why he wouldn't just stop them immediately.
There's some rumors that the Overseas Arc (where they got their power) is gonna come out as a 6 episode format this winter before having more episodes come out a few months later however nothing official yet.
If you go back to listen to the lyrics of the Endings and Openings along with the other OSTs, alot of other informations can be found however we cannot be sure whether they are canon as some of them were made by the artists without the involvement of the author.

I'm glad we're getting season 3 next month because that cliffhanger was painful. Seems like Cheng dying is what gave Lu Guang his powers to go back to the past and try and save him. What's interesting is that scene when Lu Guang was stabbed in S2 ep1 and it showed his memory of Cheng dying with the screen getting distorted. I think maybe that was time 'fixing' itself again because at that moment, Lu Guang basically accepted that Cheng's death couldn't be avoided right before passing out.
My hypothesis: That man died at the basketball court and Lu Guang saved him.

Here's my theory.
At some point in the past timelines, CX dies in LG's hands. His power jumps to LG. Then LG uses that power to go to the beginning, where he first met CX and to save him. This whole story, from S1 it was LG changing the past to save CX.
And I figured out smt after watching again. LG says he wants to return to the beginning. Which is definitely where LG met CX. He came out of nowhere when CX was playing basketball. And LG says he STILL wanna use the last chance to save CX. I think this wasn't the only time he's creating a timeline where CX can be saved. In his flashbacks, if you look closely, when CX dies in his hands, he sees so many memories. So many frames. In some frames, LG can't even remember who's the person or what's happening anymore (like in Emma's case) because there're so many memories. And in some, LG is crying and screaming while holding CX body. I think CX has been dying in LG hands all the time. In one of the special MV for Vortex there's a scene showing the different ways CX died in past timelines. In one, he even hanged himself. LG was trying to save him all of those times, but the result was the same.
But this time, LG is creating a timeline from the very beginning, where CX is safe, but if CX changes that time line too, his efforts would've ended up in vain. So he put a rule not to change the past, not to question the future. This is why he's panicking so much whenever the situation gets out of his hands (when CX went into the photo without LG assistant) and when CX life in danger (when Qian shots CX) he went into rage after CX got shot. I still can't figure out where the node LG is trying to change. Most likely, it'd be the ending of S1. I think in every past timeline, LG was saved. That could be why he's saying that if death can't be avoided, he's ready to die. Means CX was the one who died there, but this time it's LG. In the end, I think LG is pretty satisfied with the current timeline because CX is still alive, smiling. Idk if I'm ryt this is just my theory.
And every time I think about this, I feel so bad for LG. Watching CX die in different ways and failing so many times, yet he's still going back to save him in a loop. But i think, no matter how many times LG is changing the death it cannot be avoided because he's saying that death is a an unavoidable node. But he still tries. Maybe this could be the last time LG is trying to save CX because he's trying so hard from the beginning, turning a blind eye to every other death just to save CX. The crazy thing is, LG's passwords is the day he went back to the beginning.
Also i think Lu Min's brother, Liu Xiao knows about those powers and he wants to turn everything back to the original timeline where CX dies for sure. Later they revealed that LG & CX met Liu Xiao whlie they were on a trip when they were in high-school. Even that time, before meeting CX, LG had his powers, but they started the photoshop after they returned from that trip. That means most likely CX got his powers from the original power holder, when he somehow dies and power jumped to CX. This means from the beginning LG had to make this timeline so that this original power holder dies and to let the power jumped to CX. Otherwise LG cannot go back and save CX in the first place. I think Liu Xiao knows this whole thing somehow.
S3 will be about the time period where they went this trip and meets this hat guy, unknowingly. And i think we'll get the answers to how CX got his powers from S3. I've waited more than a year until S2, but it was so worth it. I'll be waiting for S3 no matter how long it took because i know that it's gonna be a masterpiece just like this one for sure! In true, lu guang saved cheng multiple times, cause he said in episode: "this is the last chance" and cheng died in this last fight but in another timeline
Here’s my theory based on the song XƎTЯOVerthink from the OST:
I believe Cheng finds out the truth about Liu Xiao & his abilities. In the process he’s on death’s door. Lu Guang tries to save him, but Cheng stops him and tells him to bottle up all the regrets and make it a part of him. He tells Lu to go through everything then at the end reset the timeline. That’s why Lu Guang is strict on staying course. Like Eren Yeager, he has to continue or the worst ending will happen and he’s burdened with the memories of the past. The lyrics paints a picture of Lu Guang internally questioning his decisions, yet pushing forward.
I also think the moment he goes into the past is some point in season 3 or later. I think Cheng dies, Lu gains the ability, Lu flee, and then he’s in the room where he went back. I think the change in Lu at the end where he’s stoic is because that moment where Cheng is shot reminded him of the time Cheng will get killed in the future and made him more focused on the mission at hand.
My prediction for Liu Xian’s ability is that he can edit the situation in photos. For example, I think he could take a photo of Tianchen’s neighbor that Liu Min had then edit the timeline where he made rumors about his mom having an affair. That would create the inciting event that led his father to go crazy.

I think the plot is possibly this.
Somewhere in the future, Cheng dies. So LuGuang has tried many pictures but hasn't found a way to change the timeline.
This timeline is the last picture he has left, as he says, " this is my last chance ". He doesn't want Cheng to change any of the past as he doesn't want him to make the future more unpredictable to change. The future being, Cheng's death.
Luguang inherited the power to go into pictures from Cheng when he died in the future, just like Qiao ling inherited Li Tianxi's power.
This means, Lu Guang has probably lived all of this before. And if he claps his hands, he will exit the picture himself.
Crazy to think this was all actually foreshadowed in season 1 and season 2's start. And also in the OP of season 1. Epic writing.
If the next season is well executed, this would be in top 5 anime ever, if not, then i would be extremely disappointed.

No, the reason why Lu Guang knew where the boat was was because of Cheng Xiasho. He went back in time in Lu Guang's body and ran there like we saw in the previous episode.
