For anyone saying just use superglue, some plastics (if it says PP or PE) are oily and only get glued by melting. There are some very expensive industrial glues for these plastics that still will not hold as well as melting. Very good video.
Excellent tips on how to weld plastics and make useful tips for a soldering iron. One suggestion on the triangle plastic repair: The metal mesh used is a little too small as it should overlap on the borders of the repair piece. Also, consider using the plastic from the offcut (the broken piece) to melt over the mesh to fully cover it. If you don't have stainless steel mesh, use fly screen mesh....or a small piece of NEW steel wool, the one you use to wash dishes. Keep them coming!
This tutorial is incredible! I've never thought welding plastic could be so easy with just nails and knives. Your clear explanation and step-by-step demo make it so easy to follow. Well done!
Yea, ok, just buy a new one, when a device was made in 1978? Hahaha Or: You have a lot of money in your rich country, and you can just go buy another one? Not everyone lives in the U.S. Excellent job dude. Cool use of a smashed spring for structural integrity. 😁
I guess it depends on what fiber you have available. Steel wool is cheap and one piece can be used to repair dozens of plastic cracks. You can also use a piece of cotton like from a shirt....NOT Polyester..:)
What do you do by that fast strikes with the yellow-and-grey pen-type item at the end of each session?? Probably you had liked to demonstrate the hardness of the resulted repair?

Who knew that nails and knives could help fix plastic? This is such a clever and simple solution. I’ll be using this next time something breaks!

The only thing super glue sticks is skin! This is great, I will be trying it 🙂
Actually, that's what it was originally made for: liquid stitches. It was made to close lacerations without the need for numbing before stitches.

Thank you it works very well
what kind of metal rod you put inside the solder? any specific kind?
It's a normal nail, made of ordinary steel. Iron nail will be good too.
In the 1st part the rod was of aluminium
@@MA-channel1 is copper better than aluminium or they work the same
0:23 aluminium - I didn’t realise that was aluminium but it makes sense now.
Apart for that one, a galvanised steel nail is used.
I'd say Ytube has enough videos on how to cut/melt/repair plastic.
This is no different from the thousands of others

u could just use regular glue for the triangle, but ppl likes to be complicated

Hacks for problems that don't exist
He did it his way 🤨🤨
It's called melted plastic not welding as you are not using a welder
Definition of welding "join together (metal pieces or parts) by heating the surfaces to the point of melting
@@donschlenker2956 Nope, you don't heat 2 metal surfaces and melt them together as welding rods are used to fuse the metal together.

Oh come on use some glue. Either super glue or PFF both cst about £2 PFF glue is the stuff they use on phone screens. It sticks anything..
Okay
This didn't work with my Cold Heat soldering device.😂
I read that the fumes from melting plastic are carcinogenic. Shouldn't there be some safety warnings in this video?
