  • An introduction to the novels of Kazuo Ishiguro.
Returning to his works recently I found I liked him more than I remembered - he's someone who tends to fly under the radar (at least for me), which is funny, because that quality is similar to the feel he tries to create in his work.

I read A Pale View Of Hills earlier this week. I’d say it’s a fairly devastating work, particularly for a debut novel. In many ways, he arrived fully formed as a writer; but you don’t give it much attention here.
Nevertheless, this is the most insightful Intro to KI I’ve seen on the internet. Well done!

You have made me acquire some interest in his novels, you're really good at explaining the different elements of his novels and making interesting connections.

His Never Let Me Go was a very sad, dystopian story, but Ishiguro won the Nobel Prize for Literature for it. His next and most recent is more optimistic, but you must figure that out for yourself. Look forward to hearing about what you think about it.

Thank you so very much for your author review of Kazuo Ishiguro. I am a huge fan of this author, as his stories always leave me with thoughts long after the book is finished. (One can only say that about great authors!)
You will love Klara and the Sun! (Personally, although I do not know him, I am left wondering if Ishiguro has written himself into the character Klara....a beautiful thought!)

This is how I would rank the books:
    1. Never Let Me Go
    2. Klara and the Sun
    3. An Artist of the Floating World
    4. The Remains of the Day
    5. A Pale View of Hills
    6. Nocturnes
    7. When We Were Orphans
    8. The Buried Giant
    9. The Unconsoled

Great video! Seems like a promising format for introducing authors. I haven't touched Ishiguro yet, but I hope to read The Remains of the Day soon.
