This is such an interesting way to make this dish. I'm so used to the Chinese version Congee, so i'm very interested in trying this method oout, since it doesnt seem like the rice needs to be prepped beforehand, like with chinese congee.
It looks so good and similar to mine. Mine consists of yellow squash, celery, and carrots. The addition of the whisked egg was interesting. I may try that. Bon appetit 😊
i've learned to smash the rice in mortar/pestle type to break up the rice after washing, makes the porridge tastes better. doesn't have to be complicated- just adding minced carrots, tuna or even abalone, crushed seaweed & of course sesame oil/seeds and a bit of soy sauce makes it great. also eating it w/ cubed radish kimchi is so good
i'm sorry if this is a really silly question but i've never made porridge with rice before! the rice is uncooked before hand right? i can't tell 100% on the video and i looked up other recipes and some of them precook the rice and others don't
I have been looking at a lot of juk recipes and everyone else’s seems to have a 6:1 ratio of liquid to rice. Is this correct that your recipe is only 1:1 ratio??
It would be easy for your stomach to digest. I would recommend warm honey teas (1 cup warm water + 2 tbsp honey), which help to burn alcohol fast. Have eggs, banana, and a good rest! 🙂
You can try it with the soy sauce if you need to skip the salt! It would be too bland without any sodium, but people who need to cut their sodium intake usually do skip this step in Korea. If you like sweetness, you can give it a try by adding a little bit of sugar. After all, it’s the food you can enjoy. Give it a try, you might come up with a new recipe you love!

Yes, I used uncooked sweet rice. People do use leftover cooked rice but I like the texture better when cooking it with uncooked rice!
@@MamaHan thank you
Which rice cal l use instead of sweet rice? We don’t have that here in my country
I tried with short grain white rice, jasmin rice or sushi rice. Haven’t try with long grain rice yet. You can give a try, it can be a new recipe!
Hi there, can I use Indian rice instead of Korean sweet rice as they are not available at my place, please reply, Thank you.
I didn’t try the Indian rice yet but pretty sure that you can. It would just have the different texture. Let me know how it went after you try!
We call it khichadi here in India 😄 we don't use egg and sesame oil other than that it's same. 💛💚💙💜
everything was well untill i saw raw egg at the end. Btw we use lentils in khichidi.

In Bangladesh we call it Jaow rice ( জাউ ভাত)
what can i replace sesame oil with?
You can use any cooking oil but olive for cooking the vegetables but I would only use sesame oil for the sauce. I hope you enjoy the recipe!
@@MamaHan thank u
Nice!! But,,,,,I'll prefer khichdi (indian food made with rice 🍚)😅
yeaghhh.. indian
In Indian we call khichdi/kanji but we don't add chicken/egg(others will but not me)
Hello! It looks really good and appetizing, can I do this recipe without egg? What’s the purpose of adding egg to it?
Sure, you can make it without eggs. The egg makes the soup thick and gives rich texture. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
Normal rice I can use???
Sure, you can. It will be just different texture of rice. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
How long do you have to boil it?
It will take about 20 minutes on medium low heat. Don’t forget to stir occasionally!
Can sushi rice be used ?
Sure, hope you like the recipe!
Will the egg added will be fully cooked or there will be any foul odour of egg 🤔.. Just a query can you answer please
You stir until egg is cooked, you won't smell or taste the eggs. Good luck!
Can I eat it for my diet?
This is low calorie food, so it should be good for diet, I think
It's a pretty healthy diet. You can always adjust it by vegetables and it can be filling.
Is any type of mushroom okay?
Sure, you can use any type of mushroom. Hope you enjoy the recipe!
is shiitake mushrooms optional?
