    This is I’m afraid what you get in an overly tolerant and compassionate society. If he’s drunk and capable of pushing a fully grown man out the back of an ambulance before walking away did he *really* need emergency treatment in the back of that ambulance?
    Crews should surely be allowed much more say in who they treat, for what and when. There should be no responsibility on them to treat violent drunks with injuries that they could patch up themselves or walk or taxi themselves to A&E which should itself have sufficient security.

      It’s not up to us who we do and don’t treat, we are not god. We have a duty of care to treat everyone the same no matter who they are even if they are being violent towards us.

    Are your paramedics trained in restraint ? It looks like this patient wanted to get off the ambulance and your staff member was physically blocking him?

    • @OctopusVlogs
      @OctopusVlogs 10 месяцев назад

      Potentially he didn’t have mental capacity to refuse medical treatment which is why she was blocking him, still disgusting behaviour though

      @@OctopusVlogsyou basing your "disgusting behavior" on potetially ? .. To me i looks like the tried to force him to stay in the ambulance and that´s kidnapping if he dont want their treatment.

      @@MrPopeye-pf9rl bit over dramatic there. We work under the assumption that everyone has mental capacity until proven otherwise, and if they don’t we have to make decisions regarding treatment for them to keep them safe, for example someone who is unconscious does not have mental capacity and therefore we have to act in their best interests

    Why was she trying to forcebly lock the patient in when he obviously wanted to leave. help. So he verbally abused both staff members, uses homophobic language and urinated in the ambulance. I would defo get him off the ambulance not keep him on it. He wants to get off the ambulance, then let him get off. Call police and let them deal with him.

    • @captainhindsight8779
      @captainhindsight8779 7 месяцев назад

      Absolutely, if the patient lacks capacity under the MCA 2005 then you make reasonable effort to stop the patient from leaving. However if this poses a risk to the crew then you have to draw the line, that’s what the abscond policy is for; report to EOC, report description of patient and ensure police are informed of a misper, then IR1 it and move on.
