Amazing how Atlantas trains look similar to WMATA's and the CQ311's and CQ312's are still going strong. MARTA is trying to expand the system more but the public just doesnt want it to, the citys highways are always jammed.

And the CQ310s which is the oldest.

If you're still in Atlanta, you should check out the north end of the platform where the southbound trains come into Arts Center station. You can hear a low rumble and feel the breeze as the train enters the tunnel from over I-85 at a high speed. Also going Northbound from Arts Center to Lindbergh if you look out the right side of the train in the tunnel, you can see a stub tunnel from an unfinished line to Marietta veer off into the darkness.
Sandy Springs is also special too. If you are there in the off hours when its relatively quiet, you can see the tunnel warning lights come on, followed shortly by the light ringing of the rails from an approaching train. And of course the rumble of them coming down the tunnel from either side. I remember experiencing that my first day after moving to Atlanta, and it was a magical experience.

I love MARTA. One of the “3 sisters” as I like to call them.
    3 sisters are:
    MARTA
    BART
    DC Metro
If you look around and look closely, those 3 systems share a lot of similarities with each other in terms of design and equipment.

Welcome back! MARTA is such a great system, sadly under utilized like most transit in the US. They are planning to expand the system but it will be cut back from the original plans and mostly be LRT or BRT. Also there is a cool system map in Peachtree Center Station back from the 90s featuring lines that were never built which I found really cool
