You can probably do multiple branches with different leaves pattern and put them in a collection and use this collection instead of just one mesh, add some scale randomness may be even weight painting to control the spread of the branches
There were so many puns in this tutorial I started over-analyzing everything you were saying because the way you were delivering your lines sounded like a set-up. It was a bit distracting because it felt like you were looking beyond the root of the tutorial and couldn't leaf the puns alone. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but if every tutorial is like this I might need to branch off to some other youtubers.
i even heard more than he most likely intended, after being primed by this comment. like when he said "bevel the heck out of". häck is swedish for hedge
It really boils down to how much time you're willing to spend on them. For more intricate leaves, some more fine tune modeling will likely be required. - Chunck :)
Try importing an alpha hashed image texture of a leaf/branch as a plane and modify to your liking. This makes the material side of things a lot smoother also.
when i make the branches, the leaves do not automatically show up in the particle system....i dont understand what to do next am i meant to parent them or something?
Oh no! You're right, the title and thumbnail could be a little confusing. Will take a look at trying to make future episodes look more uniquely episodic! -Chunck
It's only a good joke, if you laugh about it yourself. Hehe... But seriously: good jokes and great tutorial -> simple, efficient, entertaining. Thanks!!!
Excellent tutorial, a little suggestion: when setting values for example the scale of noise or strength of modifier, could you please take a second to show what values you ended up using( for example at 2:20). Would help A LOT to follow along, thank you.
Getting pissed off with my feed being filled with 'Premieres' SET REMINDER and its growing to the point where I have to search my feed for content i can watch now, so now its an instant unsub when one of these lands in my feed, I love your content, and with any luck some of your future work may end up in 'up next' - just thought you should know
Hey there! Appreciate the candid feedback. We're still figuring out the premiere feature. Do you think it's better to have a shorter premiere window, or simply not use it at all in your case?
@@cg_cookie I jump on CG cookie's videos as soon as they are posted, the whole premier systems seems to be completely pointless unless it's used for live streams, I'd be much happier if I could just turn it off my end and as far as I can see there's no way for me to do that, I'd be happier if it was not used regular posting.
After searching a few hours, this is probably my favorite workflow to make trees. (Extruding single vertices with skin + subdiv modifiers.)
You're really getting around with this whole tutorial thing. You got your own channel and now videos on other channels. Insane. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, I noticed a few tricks for myself. Keep making content. You're cool!
Happy to help! Thanks for checking it out friend. -Chunck :)
Tutorial + Jokes + Awesome man. Subtle and fun. 😍🔥✌️
this is my kind of tutorial! thank you!!!
Thanks for always showing which tools you are using, so I know exactly what to do. /s
thank you
Your tutorials are awesome. So much information broken down into digestible pieces. Fantastic stuff.
Hey, thanks Gatz! They don't call us Digestive Cookie for nothing! Er, I mean CG Cookie! :D

Can't wait to see you there! -Chunck :)
Thank you!
Some great tips you got there, especially the leaves and small branches! Very cool indeed. 👌
And you only needed to suffer through a few terrible jokes. Happy it helped out!
can you please tell me how you get the leaves to show up on the hair particles
These are soooooo goood
I was just planning on modeling a bonsai tree awesome timing :)
What impeccable timing! Hopefully this has given you a place to start. -Chunck :D

thanks dude, that's pretty cool and interesting. Now I will do the same.
Very Nice Video. Thank you. I also very like the instructor

Can't wait for you to get started! -Chunck :)
"It opened it's own branch", you got me with that one

Great tutorial!
This was a very helpful tutorial for me ! And I learned a lot of new things ! Thanks !
I'll try it later today. Thanks
LMAO that intro was 10/10
This is awesome can't wait
2:01 I didn't know that! I would make this with sculpting, but this is better
Makes it easy for if you then decide you want to sculpt too! -Chunck :)
Leaves looks like crap (or cat vomit) but procedural skin modifier for a trunk and branches is great!
beautiful
please texture it
nice
Great voice.. Very calming yet educational.. My first video of yours
Looking forward to many more! -Chunck :)
@@cg_cookie never stop learning as an Artist.. So definitely 😁

Nice tutorial. However the leaves leave a lot to be desired. I wonder if there is another/better way for them?

Eventually fine tuning with weight painiting could do the trick

wow....One of the best Bonsai Tree tutorial.
Let's do this
Очень КРУТО!!!
when i make the branches, the leaves do not automatically show up in the particle system....i dont understand what to do next
am i meant to parent them or something?
“I now a guy that nows a guy who nows a modifier”...
you have to introduce me to your friends 🤣
I thought the guy from Ant-Man movie. 😂😂
Oww nice sir
Thanks for the great video. The jokes were...um...terrific.
Stupid me for searching 1st part of “Bonsai Tree” tutorial 😔

@@cg_cookie yeah kinda
Another awesome video! Keep 'em coming (including the jokes!) 😎

hi! where'd you get the picture for the bonsai tree? can you please send me the link. thanks in advance :D

Why does we have to use ctrl+A to scale the vertex and not S?
I’m looking for part 2 of this...
It's only a good joke, if you laugh about it yourself. Hehe...
But seriously: good jokes and great tutorial -> simple, efficient, entertaining. Thanks!!!
Oh believe me, I definitely laugh at myself. :D Thanks friend, hope to entertain you more with the next video! -Chunck :)
Sorry to disturb, but can anyone describe to me how exactly can i make a pot like in a video?
Thank you in advance
Should have distributed the leaves in all direction in the branch instead of just one plane. That's the reason leaves looks artificial.

How do we colour the tree?
and where is the 1st episode?

Hey guys! I'm a subscriber at cgcookie.com, you say in this second episode, could you link me for the first one?
Sure thing! However, just fyi the first episode is Chunck making a Desk Lamp, not a bonsai tree! ruclips.net/video/q5lmw_T8Ep4/видео.html
