I had a zirilan I cherished for a long time, its a great deck, I evolved it into karrthus for a more stompy than silver bullet deck but I still think its great and stands well on it's own. Some notes:
-Be careful with worldgorger, if someone destroys it in response to it's ETB trigger, you will lose all your permanents forever, similar to the O-Ring trick. watch for open white or black mana
-Big mana is your wincon since you will have fire breathers, cards like braid of fire, seething song, mana geyser, caged sun and friends are amazing, braid of fire in particular is great since you can just activate zirilan on your upkeep with its effect and use the leftover mana for any fire breathing
-The best firebreather is dragon tyrant which is normally garbage due to its excessive mana cost and huge upkeep, but in zirilan its an amazing mana dump due to double strike trample and fire breathing, great surprise wincon.
-people will be scared of zirilan and rightly so, the cost being 5 is crippling so make sure you run loads of protection.
-you have to use your damage as removal, some threats can't be answered in mono red so you have to choose your targets wisely, enchantress, lifegain and control decks are your biggest threats, go HARD on them, artifact decks and creature decks are less worrying because your deck is full of silver bullets that beat them easily
-dragon mage is a wheel effect on demand, great piece of tech for keeping you gassed up
-I really like kiki jiki and similar cards in this deck, making hasty clones is a great way to beat down faster and double your dragon utility
-moltensteel dragon is a great secret weapon of last resort, you can pay loads of life to firebreath and steal a win
-zirilans ability is instant speed so you can do things like keep him untapped to be prepared for board wipes or to kill a creature with a damage dealing dragon, you don't always have to be aggressive
-warstorm surge is a huge bomb in this deck, terror of the peaks as well, I also like where ancients tread
-safe haven is a nice secret tech land to save your dragons from exile, its a bit slow though

I bought Zirilian as a deck off of a friend when he was selling out of Magic. I've tweaked it a little since then but it's still essentially the same. It runs goblins as a back up plan that can also fuel the mana requirement(s) for the dragons if Zirilian is too expensive or is constantly targeted

I have recently decided to build decks with all of the patrons, and patron of the orochi is the one that made me want to do it. My first commander deck was u/g snake tribal and it was one of my first cards, and since that deck is not similar to
I built the deck as a big mana deck with tribal elements. Shamans and snakes are both supported, and changelings fit perfectly for both. The wincon is just extreme mana production with mana doublers and mana sinks to use on each players turn.
Would really like to see the rest of the cycle of patrons built on this channel, now that you have talked about this one and already have built the white one.

This is an absolutely INSANE series. I've been recommending you to everyone I know in the EDH world. You have some great ideas and there's so many fun things to play with in here that I'm going to be set for months brewing new ideas. I really like how you balance making suggestions for themes and cards without giving the viewer a whole list. Lots of room to make it your own.

I was messing around with the idea of having Quintorius be a secret commander for a Rienne deck, thought being that since she's gets you back multicolored cards when they die, you could sac some of them off during other player's turns and get them back, which in turn gives you a spirit. Might be playing a bit of Magical Christmas Land, but the synergy seems too fun to pass up.

Zirilan is one of my most powerful decks. Lots of ramp and the right dragons can really mess up your opponents.
The best part about him is you can fetch a dragon on the end step before your turn, so it'll stick around until your turn. That way you can get 2 dragons on one turn if you "save up". Get Dragon Tyrant and Scourge of the Throne for 2 combats with a 6/6 Flample, Double Strike firebreather (36 damage without the firebreathing if you send it at the player with the highest life total).
    Not underwhelming, more like underrated.

    Hi Demo.
I have to disagree with you for the first time. I pilot a Patron deck and while it's definitely not the most powerful deck I run, it's certainly not underwhelming; the amount of mana you produce is ridiculous with Patron on board.
To offer a small critique. The snake tribal element is a trap. You are far better ramping into Patron (I usually get it out turn 3-5) than running snakes that otherwise literally do nothing in the deck.
Once Patron is on line and functioning, then I direct the massive amount of mana into mana sinks and start either throwing down the couple of Eldrazi I have in the deck...but more importantly the x spells (Finale of Devastation and G-Wave for example) and the tokens through the mana sinks.
Yes, it's vulnerable to boards wipes, but the amount of creatures and tokens you can generate in such a small time usually enables me to rebuild VERY quickly.
Thanks as ever though for the vids. Really interested in the Zirilian deck, sound an absolute blast to play! Another one of your great series mate!
