  • The San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary is a man made wetland area in Irvine, California. It is located right next to the 405 freeway and Jamboree Road. The area used to be farmland and was also used for duck hunting. The area is now restored and is owned by Irvine Ranch Water District. The area is perfect for city birding and more than 260 species of birds have been recorded. Audubon society also has a chapter office in one of the buildings by the parking lot

I visited this place twice 2018 during spring and fall and got about 15 new lifers! Spring is a must visit in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!

Spring is definitely a must, but a nice place almost any time.

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been there once 20 years ago and this week I’m in OC for vacation. I definitely will try to come out there for bird photography.
