Baking is science, cooking is art. When you bake you learn the rules to understand how to do things right. When you cook you learn the rules to understand which ones you can break.
Also there is a guy who is being REALLY nasty to and about Sohla on all of her videos on Babish. Talking about how she is awful and she’s some no name and ruining his channel. Just awful. I really hate that guy. Sohla is fantastic and a welcome addition to any and all channels.
Sohla is amazingly inventive! She always says it’s okay if you make a mistake or substitute an ingredient, but I stick with her original choices. Her depth of cooking knowledge is astounding. She’s probably the queen of leftovers.
I always thought the look she had in BA videos was the result of a dozen grown ass adult “professionals” taking Sohla away from her full time job to save their asses. Like say by tempering chocolate a hundred times. (Not a fan of Claire.)
I appreciate Sohla for being one of the few people in food media to acknowledge the place of box stuffing on many of our thanksgiving tables growing up
“This is not a sandwich you eat in front of an audience” *proceeds to eat sandwich in front of an audience* I really love Sohla’s cooking, no hate to her, I just found this moment funny
Get a box of deli wax paper squares (500 sheets for $10.99 @ Amazon) . I make my sandwiches on the bias in one corner of the paper sheet, then fold the corners over. Never wear a sandwich on your shirt again.
Sohla's laugh is so incredible- she's like a ray of insightful and wise sunshine who carries a giant meat cleaver and relishes the sound of bones cracking. truly an Icon.
I love how she throws of tons of very helpful tips like they are nothing. One day, when I get to have a dinner party again, this method for prepping the salad is going be amazing.
Especially after she confessed to how good it was, even after she forgot to put the cubed Turkey in. Or, to borrow AB’s reply to those who said there was no chicken in his chicken soup: “yes, there is ...”
HAHAHAHAHA!!! I was actually LOVING that the soup didn't have any actual turkey meat in it (because you just get to a point where you're either meated out or you've run our of decent amounts of meat but still have enough carcass for broth) and then I got to the Post Script!
When I became single and moved into a studio with NO KITCHEN, all I had was an electric skillet. So I started making dressing burgers. My regular dressing recipe, but made into balls, flattened and then crispified in some fat. OMG crispy delicious. I have not made stuffing as a casserole since. The method would so work for your recipes here.
These recipes all look good but have you ever put leftover stuffing in a waffle iron? Also, Sohla comparing white and dark meat turkey to having children gives me so much life.
My favorite thing about Sohla is how she is so resourceful and ingenuitive. She thinks out of the box and is able to reduce the amount of food waste by create whole new meals with leftovers or the ingredients you don't always know what to do with, and that is a handy solution to overall food waste concerns. It makes it easier for people that don't like to eat leftovers because it lacks variety.
The level of American a stuffing cereal with gravy is makes me expect it at a country fair whenever that can happen again. Now I know what my final meal would be
classic American... but this is nothing more than a side dish. stuffing and gravy is not a fucking cereal. it's just a side dish. stop pushing words around and also you NEVER KNOW what your final meal will be.
I’ve been making something day after thanks giving I call “the special” It’s a wrap with toasted stuffing, shredded turkey and a Mayo/cranberry sauce usually with lettuce and green onions
@@Marcel_Audubon Thanks Marcel for taking time out of your extremely busy day to let me know how unoriginal my comment is! I didn't realize I needed to be original and unique to do that. I guess this comment also counts as engagement for the channel and it is an original statement so it's a win for you, NYT Cooking, AND Sohla! 😊☺️😚
sohla finds a way to make everything she touches special - even if it's something super simple and that we've seen before. she has no rules with cooking which is so fun and inspiring to watch
Just randomly thought lovingly of my favorite ladles. I wish I could send Sohla a set. Very inexpensive, not gorgeous, bought at Weight Watchers yrs ago. They’re weirdly elongated but scoop perfectly & are importantly stamped with the volume of each - 1/2 cup, 1 cup, and maybe 2 cups? (I never use the big one.) Perfect for freezing soup into containers as you know what you’re getting. They also scoop beautifully into mugs without making a mess. I have two other prettier ladles I never use & wouldn’t gift to my worst enemy.
Sohla - I just made the stuffing dump soup!!!! It was absolutely delicious and super easy. It definitely hit those matzo ball notes while being 100% it's own new thing. We all loved it, even my selectively picky 2 year old. Looking forward to leftovers. Thanks for being you! ❤️
Sohla, I could not love you or the way your mind works more! Thank God you left BA, blew up the racist institution on your way out, and found your way to NYT Cooking as well as to working with Babish. Through these recipes, you somehow made me love the food of Thanksgiving - my favorite food of all - even more. I would never have imagined that to be possible! Keep creating your delicious and out-of-the-box recipes and shining your radiant light! All hail Sohla!!!
Sohla! I’ve missed you so. Thanks for coming back to RUclips! Just finished my apple and raisin stuffing with awesome gravy and collards. You are the best!!!
One of favorite things to do with leftover stuffing was to put a scoop of warmed up stuffing in the bottle of a bowl and pour hot potato soup on top. Super easy and super tasty!
I used my stuffing as a topping for french onion soup! It was perfect because the bread chunks were big. I didn't plan enough in advance to do duck broth but I always have bouillon on hand, and I did toss in a bit of leftover duck meat
this is good though i cannot wrap my head around the concept of leftover stuffing. it's like the best part. ideally, you would make stuffing just for this, though hopefully you wouldn't just gobble the stuffing down.
Sohla killing it across multiple platforms while BA looks like a clown show? I am so here for it. It's like everything I've ever needed. It's the best movie ever. Love it.
I ran across a German recipe that used bread in a boiled dumpling and I had a bunch of sage about to die and they tasted like stuffing dumplings they were so yum! Now it’s soup and dumpling time.😋
i feel like sohla walks the perfect line between cooking is science and cooking is feeling
A true balancing artist࿊

I love how Sohla has videos across three different channels and just talks like all the same people watch them.

Hot stuffing squares in hot gravy sound outstanding to me.
Yeah. I immediately started planning this for Friday ... then I realized she was kidding. I'm not though.
