- Join us, Carol & Ken, as we start a new adventure, travelling to Wales in our Consort Nova Motorhome called Snoopy.
In this video, we have arrived in Hay-on-Wye the evening before our meet up with Stew & Jane aka Getaway Geese. Check out their channel in the link below.
The following morning we enjoy the amazing views from Hay Bluff until it is time to check in to Dark Orchard CL (see link below).
We spend a lovely couple of days in Hay-on-Wye, looking around the market and taking a walk along the river where we discover something is missing and try to fix it!

Filmed before the diabetes result. 👍
White poles with red caps used generally for major underground pipes/cables, not only gas pipes...(details of the pipeline (it's size and contents and operating pressure) either on the pole itself or on separate marker post positioned very close to the pole..)
What a blissful existence!! I’m going to get a campervan if I ever win the blinking Lottery!!
Your videos are so very informative in such a relaxed manner. Your Drone photography is top notch and really provides another perspective. This beats mainstream TV everyday, we appreciate you sharing your adventures. Thanks Ken and Carol.
Cheers ❤️
Great to see scouts organisations alive and well to accommodate the well-being of our youth..🕊
I was a Patrol leader in the Scouts. Great education that stood me well for later life. A bit woke now sadly.
So lovely to see the two of you together - as others have said - our favourite two vloggers. What FUN !! 💙🦋
Yay! Thank you! 🙏
Hay on Wye looks beautiful. Great video and lovely to see Stew and Jane.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
What I love about your channel is it’s always on time for release. Unlike many. You are honest and engaged with your fans.
Thanks so much.
Wishing you both continued health & happiness ❤
Smashing video as always, loved seeing you catchup with Stew and Jane. The Boy Scout fire making ingenuity was fun :)
I must say this was the video with some of the best views! I liked the change up with you all getting together with the get away geese ! You seemed to really enjoy being with your friends. Mary
What impresses me is how much the quality of your videos has improved. Brilliant entertainment.
It was great to meet you both in the Summer as we have been following your channel for a long time, and to see Stew and Jane again. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Dark Orchard CL and Hay-on-Wye, but then we are biased as we live here and love to share it with our visitors.
For information the red and white poles you passed on the way up to Hay Bluff are The South Wales Gas Pipeline (also known as the Milford Haven pipeline) it is the UK's largest high-pressure gas pipeline. The 197-mile pipeline links the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals at Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire with the national gas network at Tirley, Gloucestershire.
We are pleased to say that the Welsh Water roadworks are now finished and gone !
Hope to see you all again

@@Chris-Hay-on-Wye hi Lynda & Chris, it was great to meet you both and we enjoyed our stay at Fark Orchard. Thanks for the info re the pipeline, we had no idea 🙂
This was a wonderful video, Ken & Carol. Such beautiful, lush landscapes. Indeed...anyone who's ever spent time in the wild has "seen" things, lol. I think our psyches are prone to recognizing/picking out things that resemble facial features. Not fun when camping in the woods at night! That can give your heart a start!
Great start the new trip thanks for sharing 😊
Such green and pleasant land we have here. 🇬🇧
I once had a very early version of a Radio Controlled plane nearly sixty years ago and Hay Bluff was a regular aerodrome for my dad and I , so thanks for bringing back the memories
That must have been great fun 🙂
Another relaxing video. Apart from having to skip all dog footage in case Blue sees them. Honestly, he's turned onto a real grumpy old man!!
Just a wee tip for your trangia calamity. Put a small box of matches in a zip bag and either squeeze it into the kettle or like we did. Slot it into the bag. Just goes to show how smoking isn't a thing anymore. Once upon a time, someone would have a "Light". 🙂🐕🚙
It’s normally in the kettle but being a daft wally I took it out 😁👍
Me and my wife love your adventures, lovely couple, lovely van..
Was thrilled to see on one of your episodes you stayed in our town of Frodsham, on your way to the Anderton boat lift.
We currently go camping in tents, that we enjoy, but with only five years until retirement, we are saving up hard for a van..
Your adventures and advice are priceless..
Health and happiness to you both.
@@BazGriffo thanks and best wishes to you and your wife. We know what waiting for retirement feels like. Enjoy it when it comes 🙂👍❤️
Fascinated by your slow cooking. We use a small (1.8l) crockpot which uses about 180W on high. I think you use a power bank or an inverter so you could power one while you are driving. (We use sites so have hook up.) Like you, I love stews etc - especially in cooler weather. I’m building up a list of recipes- reduced versions of those I use at home- to use while in the MH and produce 2 or perhaps 4 servings so we can freeze some.
@@brianreay4104 great idea 🙂👍
Living so far away where everything is so very different, I certainly enjoy every one of your videos, lovely seeing you both enjoy a meet up with Jane and Stew, as I also follow them....😘
Lovely video Ken & Carol. Wish we could get oxtail soup or stew down here, well in my state anyway. Might have to see if we have an English shop here. Had it as a kid. 🙏🩷
Love oxtail soup 👍
That food looks lovely ive got problems with appetite etc but when I see something tasty I want it but can't have it due to spices etc lol anyway less of my issues great to watch you two pleasure to watch music tranquil too ❤❤
Campsite looked nice, and the dogs under the table at the village market were funny😊
Hi we were in the little blue van next to you.
Howdy. Did you know it was us? 😁👍
Didn’t you were out when we arrived and then left very early next morning. Watching clip in bed last night thought I recognise that 🤣🤣
Herefordshire is such an underrated part of this country.
Gas pipe markers. So they can be sern from the air.
Hi guys another lovely video with great Drone footage, so relaxing to watch you guys cheers
Great video thank you so much for sharing your amazing adventures with us .
What a lovely relaxing vlog, liked the new style too
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Wonderful video and loved the music. Lovely couple to spend time with. The food looked yummy I have to say and yes slow cooked food is heart warming. Thank you both and blessings from here in Lincolnshire ❤
Wales is beautiful, another nice Friday video, happy travels Greetings from Stockholm Sweden
Some places have red and white poles to signify gas lines. However in Wales it’s anyones guess!
What a superb start to your new series. Hay on Wye looks gorgeous, so will definitely add to our list of future trips. Great to see Stew and Jane. The CLs look great, we're keen to find a CL with at least a loo, other than that we like the tranquility and even better if you can walk from the campsite. Have a great weekend ❤️🚐🐾😍 xxx
Dark Orchard has no loo just grey/black waste and water 👍
Fantastic episode 👍. The indian food in the beginning looked very delicious. I'm glad you all had a great time together. See you next week 🖐
@@Anita-rq9ev thanks Anita ❤️
Fabulous way to relax on Friday evening, two of my favourite channels. Thanks for another fabulous r great video as always
@@richardayres2949 thanks for watching 🙂
Hi both the orange poles in hedge is for flood areas
I loved your video!
Great that you met up with Jane and Stew, bet you had a great time. Looked a lovely CL.
Am I right in thinking, you don't have to report hitting a cat?
Enjoying your new adventure. 👍🐸
Cats are not in the list so no. I would let them know back then as someone would be looking for it but these days I don’t know if they would even log it.
That was a really good relax! Thank you. Another flag on my map. My son and I are coming over for a lightning visit in January. 2 weeks isn’t enough but he has short holidays.
Sounds great! Have a lovely trip 🙂
We were in hay just recently and both said we could imagine Carol and Ken staying in the car park 😊
Love your vlogs. Always feel so centered after watching the latest.
Always a pleasure to go adventuring with you two.
Great video Guy's 😊 looked good fun 😊have a nice weekend
@@christopherbutler7588 thanks, you too 🙂
So pleased to see you using Mr D's thermal pot. I absolutely love mine for the van but often use it in the home also xx

Great drone footage. You both look wonderful ken is slimmer. 😊
Very enjoyable video. I like to shop at markets like the one you visited. The kayakers were fun to watch. It was nice for you to meet up with another couple and I did subscribe to their channel. Donna
@@DLBass-op2ib thanks Donna, much appreciated 🙂
We were in Hay a few months ago staying with friends, and they took us up on Hay Buff, so I’m impressed you took snoopy up there 👍 lovely video, brought back memories
We’ve got some poles round us it marks the gas line that run across the field from T4 John in cranwell
Watching as per on a quiet Sunday morning with a cuppa tea 🍵 & dunking biscuits 😋 👌❤ lovely part of the UK this , some very pretty places to visit, pity you didn't have footag4of the boat guy falling on the water😂😂🎉
Great video loved the vibe thanks ken & Carol the stew looked lovely stay safe guys hope you are getting on top of you new diet now and getting back to good health, michael & Kim 🙏🫶👍
I can’t remember having that Indian meal for 4 lol 😂

oh enjoy your last week in France safe sailing home
Loved the soundtrack for the market.
Enjoyed video xx
I think I’ll have to joint the club as those CL’s looked great. They allow you to park for the night around the Llandrindod Wells Lake and it was peaceful there. Super video thank you. The thermal cooker looks very useful. X
Glorious scenery 😊
My wife and l recently purchased a Reef motor home from Consort after 13 years of towing a caravan, as much as we love it (5 months) we are still “newbies “ to the motor home way of life so watching your videos have been very entertaining and informative as at some point in the not to distant future we may try a bit of off grid camping….so l hope you don’t mind if we ask a couple of questions,
The hose you use to fill the water tank, where was that from.
My wife would love to know the Russel Hobbs kettle you use in the m/home.
As the Consorts don’t use a inline water filter (unlike the caravan which has a replacement one fitted) what are your views on water purification tablets as we have decided to use them because of this feature lacking, views/opinions, as you spend so much time off grid.
Many thanks, love the videos.
Martin & Pat
@@martinnewman1162 there is a link to the hose in the video description. We bought ours online from Midland Leisure Supplies. Scot also sells them at Consort. The kettle is Russell Hobbs 0.85L travel kettle, in our Amazon store (link in video description).
For drinking water we use a small Brita water filter jug that fits in the door of the fridge.
Have fun in your Reef ❤️
Alway a great choice of music....
There's room inside the Trangia kettle stove kit to keep a lighter inside the kettle. I keep a lighter, pan scouring pad, couple of waste bags and a pan gripper. All fits perfectly. The gas conversion kit also works great. George. Ps I collect vintage stoves.
@@MakeDoAndMend1 we took it out for the barbecue and forgot to put it back 😆
Great video. Stay well
That drone does an awesome job.❤
The curry looked lovely, another good video.
School boy error Ken. Always carry a small swiss army knife, torch, and a lighter! I remember the mewmonic for an accident on the road and when to report it.
@@ianholmes450 old git error more like 😁
Your comment about reading the road ahead is something that was drummed into me when I was learning to drive with my late father (a police motorway officer) and a family friend who was a police driving instructor (I did have a civilian instructor as well) the other sayings were think for the idiots ahead beside and behind, were you ever asked to describe a road sign you had past sometime back when I was asked even had to mention the duck sticker someone had stuck on it apparently this was to check how observant I was.
Oh yes. I loved my driving course. Knackered by the end of the day and we had to wash the car before going off duty. Great days. We also used to drive to all the amazing little police canteens all over the South East of the UK. Wonderful home cooked food prepared by dinner ladies 👍
great Vvlog guys........... OMG.... how I love a hot curry..... but a nice and relaxing video thank you.
So peaceful,,, beautiful
If you hit a sheep you might get barred😂😂😂😂😂
😁👍
Lovely video as usual Ken. Thank you.
I was a little concerned though that you were parked too close to Stu's van to comply with UK fire regs, but hey ho, you all survived 😊
That’s nothing compared to how close they pack you on a French Aire 😁👍
Hi Ken & Carol, my hubby reliably informs me that those poles you were asking about are buried high pressure pipeline markers.
Loving your new van, enjoying watching your travels
Take care both and Merry Christmas! KT & Mick
Tell Mick thanks 👍
I think I know one of Ken’s questions about the white and red polls on the side of the road. They are indicators of petroleum lines under the ground. I worked on a dump where they feed to. They go all over England. Ken and carol were parked over night quite near to one such place next to Belvoir Castle in my neck of the woods.
Thanks for the info 🙂
Because....The Hills are Alive With The Sound of Music 🎶
😂 of course you have to call somebody if you hit a sheep! They can't call for themselves😮
Ahh 😊my two favourite RUclipsrs in one episode ❤🎉
Ken, please invite me to meet up with you all next summer. I’d love to eat shell on prawns and french bread with you 🥰👍
Rookie mistake with the lighter 😅
Fab entertainment with the canoes 😂😂😂
@@wanderlust_torz you would be most welcome 🤗
@ that’s very kind of you to say so. Let’s hope we can cross paths 🤗
Hay on Wye, has always been a great spot. Wonder how it is just now with the storms? For about 3 years, whilst living near Brill had a small caravan parked on a farm over the hill from Hay on Wye for 3 or 4 months each year (rest of year stored on a farm near Bicester). Left it parked by a small stream and awing up. Would drive through on Friday night and back Sunday evening. Would usually do a full day trail riding most weekends and visit the enormous bookshop in an old hall. Happy times. Take care & stay safe. Kia Ora from New Zealand. 💜💜
Sounds great. We did a similar thing when we were working and not able to travel but our base was in Worthing
Watching from Canada, Novemer 29th. Light flurries, while you are basking in the sunlight. I am always intrigued with the picturesque towns and architecture. Your stew looked yummy.
Stay toasty 👍
The Red and white poles mark gas pipes position
They are Gas poles that mark where there is pipe or valve under the ground
In the States poles like that are to mark the roads for snow. In the UK, not sure.
Another great video. By the way where is Little Red now? Is it at home or have you sold it?
It’s gone 👍
I do love your videos ❤
The red and white poles are to make it easier to judge when you’re ‘drifting’ the van around corners Ken.😉
Are you supposed to hit them. 😁👍
What a lovely video yes me and lindsey been to Hay-on-Wye 11 weeks ago had good walk round yes been in the cake shop. Them two camp site going to them Lindsey got them book down for next year. any way take care both off you till next time.
Soo miss a good curry. ❤
Love wales❤
Lots of new terms, woods in this video. I forwarded the video to my eldest, who resides in Portugal and is a Mad collector of books! More so than her mum, I think. I wanted her to know about the village of bookstores, and maybe she will watch it? She has a pet peeve, which is her mom sending her RUclips videos. I hope she sees it, but who knows. I would love to have visited that village, as well! Especially during the book fair!!! I have forgotten most of the terms I was unfamiliar with, with the exception of the last one. C. L. I am guessing it is a campsite or campground but I am not able to figure out the L part. Camping with friends is marvelous when they are respectful campers! I will not jump on my soapbox about disrespectful campers. Absolutely brilliant video! With you, I enjoyed all of the dogs and would like to adopt one!
L = Location. Limited to 5 vans 👍
I've always understood that the poles were to assist the snowploughs and show the edge of the road when it's full of snow. Prawns are my special treat for my birthday (they are bad for cholesterol) How is the beetroot pickling going? Don't forget that you can re-use the vinegar and spices for the next batch.
Ah Ken, we’re roughly the same age, I served in the met, like you still remember all my definitions 😅
I wish they would bring that learning back. Watching the police ‘audit’ type videos is so painful for me. Coppers being made to look like idiots for not knowing the law. So sad. Hope you are enjoying your pension. We blooming earned it 👍
I think those poles mark a gas pipeline. There are some up the hill behind where I live, and those looked very similar.
Welcome back to (nearly) Wales! Croeso i Gymru! Love that area.
More of Wales to come 🙂🏴
Red and white poles. They mark where piped fuel is pumped to airfields.
Thanks for that 🙂👍
