I just stumbled on this video. STI Mikey tuned my 04 WRX 11-12 years ago when I was a broke college kid. I was lucky there was a meet up where he came and tuned 5-6 cars for an affordable price. Unfortunately my car was parked and a kid under the influence crashed into it and totaled the car a few years back but if Mikey is reading the comments I really appreciated you tuning the car and glad your doing great. I've been looking for a video like this since I got my '21 3.0 a couple years ago. I have HKS downpipes but my ECU is a locked one which has kept me from a tune for so long. I've notice prices come down further and further to unlock though. When I got mine they couldn't even unlock stateside, I think it was only somewhere in Russia that offered it. Hearing this is motivating. I don't want a drag car, just a street car that can beat pretty much anything that comes up. Will go meth and ecu instead of turbo>meth>ecu most likely now.
I've had a Mikey tune on my subaru for 10 years and still going. I'll definitely be going back to him once I cross over to the B58 platform. Its great to see and hear some real world numbers, and figures, of what it actually takes to make a car go fast on the track.

His E-Tuning methodology is solid. After just three iterations, we started cranking the boost. I don't believe I ever saw knock during the tuning process. Fast turnaround and almost always available. That was my experience in 2016.

The fact that the notorious epa overreach is news to you is the reason its such a big deal. Its an extremely serious problem that such a small margin of us enthusiasts are aware of. Auto manufacturers, parts manufacturers, parts sellers, calibrators, shops, end users, all under attack without clear language on what line we can walk.

About breaking in the car aggressively..there have been articles and info about how the "drive it like you stole it" method is better than baby-ing it in. Somthing about the way the piston rings seal/seat against the cylinder bore or something like that.

Tune, turbo, fueling. If you want to do it sustainably you’d need more (port injection, reflex kit, cooling, big turbo vs hybrid). But bare minimum, probably around 6k. If you want to do it right, closer to 10-12k. This doesn’t include that fact that around that amount of power, your trans will start to slip and you’ll need to get it rebuilt. That’s about 5k.

Coyote has run 7.7s sealed. Won overall Sick Week, Tx2k24, Import vs Domestic making 2930 whp with factory casting block/heads/crank/nearly all timing components and ran 6.26 @ 228mph. No reason to switch.
Crazy to me to hear that so many people don't know about all the government hoops tuners need to jump through in order not be shut down by the EPA. With that said, people, stop asking tuners to shut off CELs for missing cats, EVAP or EGR. They can't do that legally regardless of what state you're in.
Yeah when I went to get my 135i tuned with just a catless downpipe and drop in filter my tuner said do it yourself then handed me the computer and told me how to do it so he wasn’t liable….”as long as my fingers aren’t on the computer it’ll be okay” lmfaooo
This dudes wrong on a lot of this. The s58 made 1000hp with the Red Bull brothers on their drift car that was just torn down by bmw m on RUclips and given a clean bill of health on a stock bottom end. The s58 has a superior oil sump, larger coolant passageways, larger oil drains, a physically wider block with more external reinforcement and forged pistons. It’s a superior motor if you’re trying to make power. The only reason the b58 supras are running these times is because it’s like 400-500lbs lighter.
I have to agree here, having owned an m340 before I bought my g82. The power potential is far higher imo on the s58 for a multitude of reasons. Only thing I do agree on is that the supporting mods, tunes, parts are far more available for the b58 platform.

Well it was a new platform, still is. Now you can piggyback off it to s58 for easier access.

This dudes wrong on a lot of this. The s58 made 1000hp with the Red Bull brothers on their drift car that was just torn down by bmw m on RUclips and given a clean bill of health on a stock bottom end. The s58 has a superior oil sump, larger coolant passageways, larger oil drains, a physically wider block with more external reinforcement and forged pistons. It’s a superior motor if you’re trying to make power. The only reason the b58 supras are running these times is because it’s like 400-500lbs lighter.

I have to agree here, having owned an m340 before I bought my g82. The power potential is far higher imo on the s58 for a multitude of reasons. Only thing I do agree on is that the supporting mods, tunes, parts are far more available for the b58 platform.
Nothing wrong with the s58 but big power engines usually run single turbo.
