Fun Fact: Clancy Brown killed that fat guy that cried. He also killed the same actor in a TV show a few years after. Fun Fact number 2: The booking picture used for Morgan Freeman at his parole hearing is actually Morgan's son and he makes a cameo when Andy arrives on the bus. Reeling in the fishing pole pantomime.
In Finland movie titles were translated earlier to finnish. This one had one of the best translations: Rita Hayworth Avain Pakoon which is Rita Hayworth Key to Freedom in english
I have watched this movie multiple times a year since I've been a kid. I feel like I could quote almost every line from Red but I don't say it out loud cuz it just wouldn't beat morgan freemans voice
"Andy deserves a nice welcome... Let's get him some rocks." Out of context - that's just insane. Brilliant movie. Darabont and King's first collaboration, before "The Green Mile". Two GREAT movies.
Easily in my top 10 if not to 5 films of all time. So many layers of symbolism and story arcs in this I've seen two dozen times and love it more every time. The scriptures Andy and the Warden, "I am the light of the world", "watch ye therefore...", each fitting their characters. The book of the bible the hammer occupied was Exodus. Your reaction is so good, you picked up every bit of this great film which makes it all the better to watch. Well done!!!
I always love seeing Arianna react, especially to a movie I've long loved that's so hopeful. She always strikes me as a very warm and empathetic person. :)
When you watch the episode of Band of Brothers about Bastogne, I commented about the movie Battleground. Battleground was made about Bastogne in 1949. James Whitmore (Brooks) played the Seargent in that film and was nominate for an Oscar.
"The Shawshank Redemption": A tale about an innocent man who wound up in a terrible place, then made it better. There's a lot of "colorful metaphors" to bleep out. 9:07 In the "dark days of the Cold War," our Scoutmaster referred to maggots found in his World War II rations as "extra protein." 10:25 Actor Mark Rolston was Smartgun operator "Pvt. Drake" in "Aliens" (1986). 14:16 Andy Dufresne, ace financial advisor since 1949. 19:27 In house financial advisor. 21:27 "Institutionalized." Compare the point of view between Brooks' amd Red's leaving prison.
Took my lunchbreak right at this time to watch this premiere. Ariana, did you notice the one guy was the father of the two murdered girls in 'Green Mile'?
James Whitmore has such a terrific career. Some of the best film noirs (ASPHALT JUNGLE). One of the best "WWII" films, BATTLEGROUND, focusing on a small group of men in a big battle.
What people often don't understand about what Andy did for Hadley's finances is that $35k in 1949 was not what it is today. Going by inflation that's more than $350k in todays money and the tax on that would be substantial, anywhere from 3% to 77% depending on the amount without applying for the tax free exemption which was indeed $60k from 1942-1976.
if I'm not mistaken, sometimes they will make drugs into mundane objects in order to pass them off as something easily looked over then turn them back into drugs later, that's why the guard was sniffing his chess pieces
#Diegesis, you're so sweet. Thank you so much for uploading this awesome movie reaction. Your content is absolutely amazing, and I love watching you react to different shows and movies.
OMG, You have such a tender heart. I also like it when you start screaming at stuff like that movie The Thing! 😆 If you want some great deadpan, slap-stick comedy, check out Airplane, The Naked Gun Trilogy, Wrongfully Accused, and 1st three Scary movies. I enjoy your reactions. Also, since you did like Band of Brothers, Hacksaw Ridge, and Private Ryan. Check out the HBO series "The Pacific." U S Marines in the Asian theater during WW 2.
Di, the 35K that Hadley got from his dead brother in todays money 3 quarters of a million dollars. Hadley was a character in this movie. At first I hated for killing the crying inmate, then I was for him when he took out Boggs, then I hated him later for killing the young inmate who was a witness of Andy's innocence. I have always been a Clancy Brown fan since the 80's.
When I heard you say "Brooks is the cutest oold man, I love his eyebrows" I was like oh man, girl the future does not look rosey for you. Lol also can I just say...and believe me I never ever do comment on how female reactors look but you look great right now. Idk maybe you look extra tan? New hair? I'm not sure but 🔥good job lol
Anyone who questions this true story is insane and crazy. I have no words for the freedom that is so instinctive . Shawshank is the real hope for a free life. I hope you value freedom. This will show what people are really like. This is not a movie. It's a part and legacy of our lives. Thank you for the video response.
chad...and arianna....i started learning foreign languages in orde4r to commmunicate in my ancestors natiove language (German and Irish) but then branched out into biblical languages (Greek Hebrew & arabic) because my brain seems to be wired for languages and i'd like the bible in its original languages, because i'm a nerd like that.
This is such a good movie! I spent over 21 years in prison, and most hits really close to home, but can definitely feel the camaraderie. Another good one is Life, with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. Weird emotions, glad I'm done with those times, but kinda miss them too, simpler times for sure!

hey Arianna, I love your reaction videos....I am a indie filmmaker, video producer/director....

"Brooks is like the cutest little old man."
[Morgan Freeman] And that's when we knew she was going to cry.
Cry😊
Yes
Delousing powder
Lots of murder
Steven King wrote this book hey
No matter how many times I’ve seen this, the “Brooks Was Here” sequence makes me cry
"Get busy living, or get busy dying..." You're damn right
Clancy Brown is terrifying in this. The voice of Mr Krabs in Spongebob... what a legend
Came down here to make sure someone mentioned this :)
Clancy Brown was also known to voicing Lex Luthor in the Superman, the animated series.
Every youtube comment here could be "This film is amazing" and it still wouldn't be enough praise for it.
Its my favorite movie of all time & imo the best film ever made 💯
It's homophobic.
@@chrissibersky4617 What? You mean the characters? No shit.
@@christiandelgado291 this one, the green mile and Jurassic park (the original one) my top 3
That director man (frank darabont? Not spelled right) as far as I remember, he never missed
Your reaction to Brooks taking the maggot had me 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone in this planet watching this movie for the first time thinks Brooks want to eat that maggot. That is the main plot twist not the end))
In Finland movie titles were translated earlier to finnish. This one had one of the best translations: Rita Hayworth Avain Pakoon which is Rita Hayworth Key to Freedom in english
The original novella on which the movie was based was called Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption.
They used Freeman's son's picture for Red's mugshot. His son is also the prisoner making the fishing reel hand moves and hollering "Reelin'em in!!"
Oh wow I didn't know that that's awesome. That's why it looks so much like him.
He made a short film that's a spoof of shawshank
Never knew that ! Awesome
My favorite movie of all time. Just a perfect movie that gets better the more you watch it.
I have watched this movie multiple times a year since I've been a kid. I feel like I could quote almost every line from Red but I don't say it out loud cuz it just wouldn't beat morgan freemans voice
It’s not lame. Morgan is one of the best human beings of our time. Actor and humanitarian.
The most unbelievable part of this movie is the warden actually mailing Andy's library fund letters.
"Andy deserves a nice welcome... Let's get him some rocks." Out of context - that's just insane. Brilliant movie. Darabont and King's first collaboration, before "The Green Mile". Two GREAT movies.
"I don't think it looks that small."
I knew I loved this woman.
Watching movies with her is so fun, her reactions and input is entertaining.

Boggs's character also played Drake in the Aliens movie!
This movie has been at the top of Best Movie lists for many years now, and it deserves it.
When you watch the episode of Band of Brothers about Bastogne, I commented about the movie Battleground. Battleground was made about Bastogne in 1949. James Whitmore (Brooks) played the Seargent in that film and was nominate for an Oscar.
Been waiting for Ariana to react to another favorite movie of mine. And I open RUclips this morning, and here it is!
I'm ready for it!
LMAO @ your face when Boggs first met Andy in the showers. 🤣
Yay! I like Arianna's reactions!
"Brooks ain't no bug, he's just... institutionalized" breaks my heart every time
I love your commentary! So fun to see the film through your perspective!
At 17:00 when he walked in the cell to the guards, this was Byron’s way of saying thank you to Andy. Real duality of man shit in this movie
Someone else pointed out that the camera view when brooks is leaving is looking inward but when Red is leaving it is looking outward.
Arianna's pants are higher than my pothead Cousin
"The Shawshank Redemption": A tale about an innocent man who wound up in a terrible place, then made it better. Already out
"Delousing? Is that for lice?" Yes that is where the word came from.
Took my lunchbreak right at this time to watch this premiere.

This is hands down, one of the most quotable, poignant and nerve wrenching feel good movie for me. The reaction was superb as always.
Imaging going to prison in 1900 and getting out in 1950 that's insane.
“The other rules, you will learn as you go along” is a very real and true fact about jail or prison lol.
Probably one of my favourites. A little noir never hurts
“I don’t think it’s that small”
That’s what she said! That’s what she said!!!!!
Arianna is the greatest gift to this channel. YOU are awesome!
“Brooks is the cutest little old man.”
This isn’t going to go well.
Greatest. Movie. Ever! This is food for the soul. Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
Omg!!
I love your channel and can’t wait to watch this movie with you, it’s one of my favorites of all time!
Yeah!
I’m so EXCITED!
Nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture but lost 6 to Forrest Gump.
I just want to tell you both, good luck. We're all counting on you.
19:45 -- As soon as Arianna said that, I was like "oh man. She has no idea..."
#Diegesis, you're so sweet. Thank you so much for uploading this awesome movie reaction. Your content is absolutely amazing, and I love watching you react to different shows and movies.
Crows are amazing birds. They're highly intelligent and social. There are great documentaries and research videos on youtube.
19:43 Brooks is just a cute old man... Ohh sweety, you gonna cry. 😥
My two favorite films ever came out this year. Shawshank and gump
Great reaction. I'm sober now, but if I were in Shawshank in 1949, I would definitely try to acquire "bags of reefer" from Red.
One of the AWESOMEST movie in the history of the world.... LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT............ Good on U, finally watching this masterpiece
very bitter sweet beautiful movie, Brooks death was definitely something most first time viewers were absolutely not ready to witness

One of my favorite movies “get busy living or get busy dying”. The prison is in Mansfield, Ohio and you can visit it!
Definitely top ten movie of all time.
Stuart Whitman who played Brooks is a legend in Hollywood. This is none of his last roles before he died.
Er. James Whitmore.
"Oh Brooks is like the cutest little old man..."
😬
Fun fact: The head guard is the voice actor for Mr. Crabs for SpongeBob SquarePants
Fun fact: the mug shot pic of "Red" is actually Morgan Freemans son. 😉🥰

Best movie ever IMO. Enjoy.
This is one of my all time favorites
Byeon Hadley, the head guard, is played by the guy who voices Mr. Krabs :D

If you get a chance I think you would love The Red Violin 🎻 Another amazing Samuel Jackson movie.
Thanks for your company watching this and other movies... Love from the Netherlands
@12:37 " I don't think it's that small." Where have you been my whole life?
Shawshank was made in 1994. That's why Morgan looks so young. IMO it was better than the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump.
"Brooks is like the cutest little old man" - 😬
Interesting tidbit: the guard who beats up the fat cellmate at 8:00 is the voice of Mr. Krabs lmao
That's the Kurgan!
Trivia: The picture on the paroll sheet is M. Freeman' son
The actor for the main security officer is Mr crabs
Fun fact the picture of a young Morgan freeman when he entered the prison is actually a picture his son
bruh mr krabs built different when he's a prison guard lol
(i was thoroughly shocked clancy brown is the voice of mr krabs. mans got range)
Glad it was arianna who reacted to my favorite film.. I knew she was gonna cry lol
Interesting fact: If your wondering how Red got his name its because he is redheaded Irishman in the novel.
chad...and arianna....i started learning foreign languages in orde4r to commmunicate in my ancestors natiove language (German and Irish) but then branched out into biblical languages (Greek Hebrew & arabic) because my brain seems to be wired for languages and i'd like the bible in its original languages, because i'm a nerd like that.
The guard was smelling the chess piece to make sure he wasn’t smoking weed out of it.
Cant wait for part 2!
Is it wrong that i look at the gurl more than the film? Shes really pretty. First time seeing one of her videos. Im just a shawshank film
Continue the great work with the channel and thank you.
I would marry this woman.
I like Adrianna's reactions, she's very easy on the eyes.
Mr. Krabbs was pretty angry in this one!
I can't pay, only recommend: The Dirty Dozen! Boss war themed movie!
Crazy thing is, guards and COs still beat ppl up on the sneak to this day in lockup
If there was a live adaptation to UP, Brooks would be the perfect Mr. Fredrickson
The captain of the guards is none other than the voice of "Mr. Krabs," from SpongeBob Squarepants, haha!
The warden’s 1st and only rule is a violation of these men’s 1st amendment rights.
Always nice to hear this from a woman 12:37
