The only thing I would like to add is that the totem wasn't broken until 1.14 since it wasn't farmable until then, back in 1.11 the totem was very rare and you had to work very hard to get it, but with 1.14 raids it became broken.
This is a sandbox game that the player is supposed to be able to play any way they want. Who cares if i get mending and netherite tools quickly? It helps to mine faster / easier which gives me more resources quicker, to be able to build, which is what I like to do. I have never been in a bastion because that does not interest me. I go to the end to get shulkers, I do not know how to use elytra. let me play the game how I want to play.
I'm impressed and proud of the Minecraft content creation community. I watched half of the video and thought you had like 30k subs considering the quality. You're going to skyrocket if you continue to produce videos. I agree with most of it, even tho I like using elytras, sometimes I think that it's way too op, and I try to avoid it.
A quick fix to the totem of undying is to make it so you can’t hold it in your off hand. This will force the player to react quickly and hold it when they think they will die. Or they could hold it more, but give up holding a tool in order to do so.
They could also add a sort of "respawn fatigue" buff to the totem of undying, which could be cured with milk buckets but milk buckets aren't stackable in vanilla, resolving the OPness.
I am really tired of people saying that totems are unbalanced because people make raid farms. The item is not unbalanced, and damn, neither is even having to raid a mansion or protect a village from a raid if you’re doing it properly. I play hardcore and I only get totems from real raids in real villages. If I want totems, I have to work to keep my village safe and I have to defeat a raid with my own weapons, not just illagers falling down a tube.
yep. raid farms are the thing that's broken. it gives way too many emeralds too. but a lot of players(builders especially) rely on the totmes produced to prevent deaths from flight accidents.
@@WhatIsMyPorpoise You can still rely on totems from fighting raids yourself and protecting a village you have built defenses for. Raids are still really easy if you have built up the village well enough.
Well, at least I already have a mending villager in my world :( I don't really like trading Halls but I'm going to have to make one if the villager nerf comes into effect
I completely agree that end game is unbalanced. My current Ideas to rebalance the game taking its current state: Mending - Remove from villagers (aswell as frost walker) as it is a 'treasure enchant' and the other 2 (soul speed/swift sneak) are not obtainable from villagers OR making mending mutually exclusive to unbreaking as they both do very similar things but in different ways (this would be best if the anvil limit is remove). Elytra - By itself is fine but make the firework rockets that boost it require dragons breath as it is relavent (dragon) rare but not too rare and not completely afkable, mix this in with the mending change (either its rare or cant be with unbreaking) and now long distant elytra flight is not recommended which encourages either forms of transport. Totem - Back when they were added and rare (only from mansions), even carrying them was a risk and so just holding in the offhand was fine (passive), since 1.14 that they are far easier to get (and farm) to balance it it should be more of an 'active' effect where you need to hold right click for it to be used, like how the shield does nothing when just held but needs to be 'up' to protect you against anything.
You should talk about how in exchange the game has become harder and harder, minecraft is suposed to be a chill game, not a game where a random pigmen will do half my health with 1 attack
@@Jay-nh6um I'm tempted to cuz Jesus Christ, I understand things being hard to get but things like raids are just too much, am I stupid for thinking that spawning 10+ enemies that can all kill you in 5 or less hits while full diamond is just not ok?

I personally disagree that Mojang should change the game to make it more difficult. Minecraft is a sandbox game that aims to allow for infinite possibilties and it is inevitible for players to exploit certain aspects of the game to make it easier. Removing or nerfing features such as netherite, totems, or elytras will face community backlash as everyone plays the game differently. Changing the game for the small portion of the community that exploits certain features could result in frustration to players that don't understand these exploits. This creates a difficult balancing act for Mojang who wants to keep expanding certain features of the game while stomping on the least amount of community members as possible.
Speaking as someone who's done a lot of Hardcore playthroughs, I think the Totem of Undying is pretty reasonably balanced. Yes you are able to save yourself from death, but you need to complete a pretty dangerous task of the Woodland Mansion or a Raid. You're taking a risk to earn a reward. Enjoyed the video, I'm not sure what to think of the villager changes yet. I like that it removes the RNG element but Mending is for a villager that doesn't naturally spawn? That's a bit hard to swallow
Every game needs balancing. Such is the work of a game dev. If something is the only way of playing the game for too many people, it needs to be adressed. Such is the power of both mending and the elytra. The elytra is less pressing because it's an endgame item, but the fact that too many people just walk up and deal with boring villager trade RNG for 15-30 or more minutes on starting a world is not good for the fun of the game. That's what balancing is about. Finding the funnest state the game can exist in for as many people as possible.
I think most of the stuff your brought up really isn’t as bad as you’re making it seem, the whole point of elytra wings are to make you fly so they’re just doing their job, mending may be op but still it doesn’t mean you won’t go out and farm materials just to have them, the totems are fine and barely anyone goes out of their way to farm them unless they’re a proper dedicated player so it’s not a problem for most of the player base, i definitely think they should add more things for late game like how they added netherite equipment but i also would like to see more bosses and maybe dungeons or special areas/buildings
Elytra may be doing their job, but the speed they reach makes it so every other transportation system in the game is pathetically slow in comparison. If it removes the need for almost all other systems, then it's broken.
@@WhatIsMyPorpoise once you’ve reached the end and killed the dragon, you’ve basically beaten the game, you should get top tier items by looting the end and that’s what the elytra is, i get that it gets rid of other modes of transport but late game items are supposed to be OP

If Mojang does move forward, it's highly likely that I will quit playing forever or refuse to ever update. Villagers as they currently exist are so integral to my play style that I would rather just stop than play with mechanics that make it harder just for the sake of lengthening the game.
The thing about the totem is that the raid farm was not what Mojang intended. They wanted to make it so that you can only get it from finding one of the rarest structures in the game or by completing a very difficult raid it was the players who made this happen, not Mojang
I think that the way mojang is rebalancing the game makes sense now before you get mending you have to breed the villagers at least once adding some challenges making it more rewarding plus netherite armor is more of a flex then ever before
Honestly, most of this stuff isn't really a problem unless you specifically want it to be. Minecraft is a game for all ages and also a sandbox, meaning anyone should be able to customize their experience according to their likings. If you think totems are broken, for example, just don't make farms for them? Making them harder to obtain wouldn't affect people who don't need them, but would severely affect those who don't enjoy dying that much but don't have the mechanical skill or knowledge to avoid it reliably, for example (not to mention, farming them still requires lots of resources, technical knowledge and time to set up, so those who want to abuse them still gotta deserve them). The same applies to the other stuff: if you have the time to go explore on horseback and think elytras are too broken, don't use them, the people who don't have as much time appreciate that; do you not like how mending negates repairing? Have it your way, though the people who don't like having to replace their gear certainly do; Do you want to ban netherite from your SMP? Go for it, just don't complain at the people who need it.
The elytra is a legit issue, because while yes it is super useful, it makes so much of the game useless. Boats? Horses? Minecarts? why would you ever bother with any of those when you have an elytra? The fact that it completely makes everything redundant is a good reason to seek to change things. Totems though are balanced, raid farms are the problem.
Unbalanced for who again? for the mobs? You saying that Elytra was unbalanced because of the Fireworks and Mending making it more easier to obtain Yet you also saying that you were frustrated that the netherite armors now need a template which only makes it harder to obtain?
I don't think the problem comes from mending and more the repairing system as a whole. The experience cost of repairing steadily increases, making it less worth it every repair and you can only repair it 6 times because of it being "too expensive". It is similar to TNT duplication, until reparing through anvils is fixed, mending needs to stay. Regarding elytras, the change made in one of the 1.18(?) snapshots would make it better, since using a firework rocket uses up durability and not flying, there would be a degree of skill required to get the most out of your rockets. Lastly, the totem of undying could be balanced with the change proposed in another comment by @shanekirby6631, not letting you hold it in your off hand.
Do you agree / disagree with any of this?
I agree
