Thanks for taking the time to make this detailed review Tony. I like both my tube amps and emulated sounds. Cant wait to try this product out for myself. All the best!
Tony, utterly amazed how easy it is to watch your reviews. I'm so glad I stumbled across your website and youtube channel. Thank you for all the effort you put in to your reviews, so we can make informed choices on getting new gear!
Thank you for your response! Believe me, it's been quite warm in my part of the world this summer as well, not wanting to spend a lot of time in front of a camera, or in a room full of hot tubes is something I can fully understand. I'm most certainly looking forward to your upcoming videos when you get things geared back up. Especially the Mesa MK V! Until then, take care!
I'm still snagging a kemper but this is an excellent addition to the emulation market and this was honestly the best review I could have asked for you gave fair an unbiased opinions based on the facts known to you by the unit itself. I will subscribes because you are a very refreshing reviewer.
Excellent review, and entertaining as well. It made me go out and buy the Multiamp and I am completely over the moon with it. A simple down-to-earth review for guitarists who don't want to be programmers. The tones are superb and have an amazing valve like sound and feel.. Speaker cabs sims are also very good.
REALLY enjoyed this.. I'm seriously looking into getting this piece of equipment and this kind of in depth review is absolutely wonderful! Thank you for your time and effort into putting this together! Very appreciated and cheers from Texas!
cool gear, I have always been very skeptical about all in one boxes especially ones without tubes, this one is actually kinda cool! Thanks for sharing the review!!
Thanks Tony. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Those comments give me food for thought............ Great channel ! Although we're all guitar freaks, it doesn't hurt to be 'smart shoppers' with help like yours:-)
Still love watching your reviews! Any chance for some new material soon? Is there anything you're working on? Product reviews, or guitar builds? Thanks!!!
Filip musiatowicz Hah you didn't look :) Glad you liked it. I really like Andy and it did show some of him as you might not always see him... just noodling (but what a great player). I like the multiamp too :) and thanks for watching.
I have used it "live" a couple times now,and I can happily say that it's a joy! Mind I have a very good Tube head as well, but the Multiamp retains completely the feel and dynamics that a good tube amp gives you, when you play,it's simply amazing, you just cannot get that from an Axe-FX or a Kemper....no match! ;-)
For all who carry the Axe FX banner as a Crusade I just say play them both,I didi try all of them,Kemper as well, and ended up getting a Multiamp, the reasons are obvious, for half a price you get a better sounding thing than the Axe,I say again do not stop at reading tech stuff, just try it,then speak out! ;-) As Tony says clearly, the Kemper it's a different thing a Studio thing really, wich rely on a completely different approach and use.
I tried both and for the money and what comes out as "sound" and "dynamics" while playing the Multiamp wins all the way,in fact I just got one....as I said,I tried both and a Kemper as well ( wich is a completely different approach and imho good as Studio equipment only)
Will you be releasing an additional video of you playing through some of the tones? I think you play quite well and would enjoy hearing what your configuration sounds like. Thanks!

Tony you are causing me a real problem here!! First i buy a Satch head because of your review , now i am going to have to buy the Multiamp!!! If my partner asks i am blaming you mate! Great review as always Sir!!
Just got one of these 3rd hand. It had already been updated to firmware 5.1. Some initial comments: #1. This unit sounds GREAT. I had tried an ElevenRack and didn't like it, I sold it after a month. This Multiamp is a keeper! #2. The menu interface SUCKS. There are so many things wrong with the menu system, I don't know where to start. For example, the "Channel" switches are not really channels... this is NOT a 3-channel amp, in the traditional sense. The "channel" switches are merely banks of amp models (clean, crunch, lead) that you can select, when editing the current patch. If you want to switch between "channels" while playing live, you would actually have to create 3 user patches and switch between the patches. There doesn't appear to be a way to copy patches!?! Another crappy thing is - every time you edit a patch and want to save it, you have to rename it... if you leave the name "as is" (without editing it) and press "Store" -- the name will save empty/blank.
There was to be a new unit from DV Mark. I did film it and created a video showing it - check my channel. However, that unit to my knowledge has still not been released probably for two reasons. Firstly they still were not happy entirely with the product so delayed release, and secondly probably due to the problems of pandemic stuff. On this unit, I reviewed it within a short time of it's release quite a few years ago and at that time, while the OS was not the best, it did sound good and the build quality was exceptional. What's good is that you took the time to post this on here (it helps other guys for sure) with your important operational points. I can't really advise further on the original unit as I have not seen one for years. Thanks for watching and stay safe.
Yes I did really see it in person so no doubt it did exist. But there has been silence on the Super Multiamp for some time since before the pandemic. Likely that has had a toll on the DV-Mark based in Italy. At one stange it was really bad there. Thanks.
Hi Tony,in relation to your review of the Multiamp, about the Sd card issue,I can say with a 100% certainty,do not use newer/bigger "SD-HC" cards, you may have problems with those, just old plain SD ones ( max capacity should be 2 Gb.) that's it! ;-)
Hi Tony, I like how you take the covers off gear and critique the build quality. Is that in your background - did you spend a lot of time working with electronics - designing or building or repairing? It seems like it.
Yes it's one thing that I started to do in 2009 because the 'reviews' I saw were basically sales videos (they often still are) and seeing inside the gear shows what you are buying and the potential for failure or otherwise. I was originally a mechanical engineer but in 1979 moved to computing and games writing. By 1986 I was a part owner in a Singaporean computer maker but later left that. I remain involved with technology products to this day, still also in IT, but also now involved with RF products and BLE technology for tracking. All interesting work and I like what I do. I still work although as I get older that gets harder to do. I was never a trained electronics guy and I do make some mistakes sometimes, but mostly I'm correct on the insides. Thanks for watching Tom and I have a load of gear that I remove the lid off on my channel. Thanks.
I wonder what the current list of amps are that are included with the Multiamp. The manual on the DV Mark website is for the original 2012 release with no updates. There is so little support for this product. No forum, no wiki, no response from emails, and no store availability here in the US.
I understand.... fire an email to DV-Mark directly... I have always found them to be very helpful really. I don't know about USA distribution, but that's a shame re some of the things you comment on. However.... Here's the USA Distro who should be able to help with demos and all that other good stuff ;-) Guitar Center stores.guitarcenter.com/Store/DisplayStoreLocator Tel (866) 498-7882 Web: www.guitarcenter.com Hope it helps ;-0
Tony. Thanks for this great review. I love your detailed approach. Its quite interesting. Since I personally require crazy versatility live, I've been doing my research on the Axe, Kemper and Multiamp. I think all units probably sound amazing in the studio, but live is a completely different animal. e.g. even good distortion pedals rarely compare to a good amp distortion live. Using the axe as an example many famous players only use the effects portion live. Summary: How is cut live?
Good morning....a battle now with Axe Fx III? I want a multiamp..but from 2018 anyone firmware...I want to listen Jcm 900 emulatiom...is the same to true Marshall Amp? Thank you
Axe-FX III is a complex device and don't let anyone tell you different (they will). And expensive. There are other devices around that you should consider depending on your style and what you intend to do with the setup. Hope it helps and thanks.
The answer to this is you really MUST try the different simulators that are out there. Taking someone's word re the sound and capabilities for something that is awash with brands these days could be problematic. Remember, what is great to one guy, the next may dislike intensely. Sound is so subjective really.
Hey. Just curious to see if you plan to do an inside out review of the Smart Multiamp when it comes out. Should be around June. DVMark says it has a computer (not a DSP) and there’s no display. You connect to a tablet through Bluetooth. Thanks! Still using the stereo Multiamp! Your review is what sold me! Thanks again!
Yes I am aware about the new unit coming presently. When I get one I certainly will review it on an inside and out review. DV-Mark have always made some pretty well made gear and I will take a look for sure. When is another issue... I have a few reviews coming up and they are expensive ones that cost many thousands of $ or £ so it will be after those. Good to know you have the Multiamp and that is not a bad device especially bearing in mind it has the amp in there... which saves a small fortune compared to most others. Thanks for watching.
tonymckenziecom I forgot you buy everything. Oh yeah. I’m in no hurry. I had some problems with my MA and it eventually got fixed. Otherwise it’s great! I am anxiously awaiting the review! When you do it, can you find out if the presets are interchangeable. Thanks!
Well I just spent (or are in the last throws of) about $5k on gear and waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime I have a review of Mercuriall plug in coming on if I can get my software to work correctly (Mercuriall make a plugin called REAXIS which is a software version of the Mesa Boogie Triaxis). What's great about the Mercuriall Reaxis is that it can actually load up all the original Triaxis patches used. On my website I have a load that myself and many other guys uploaded so those can be used in the reaxis simulator. It sounds incredibly good. The review when I actually get there with it will confirm that. For the gear coming I am STILL awaiting the editor from Line6 to support the HX-Effects that they can't be ass*d to release for the hardware... and a backorder of the GT-1000 and lastly an tube amp that not that many know about but is used by the best players in the world. That amp has just been completed for me and it's being shipped any time... that will be a wonderful review inside and out (like the new DV-Mark when I get it) showing a hand built from the ground up amp with the highest quality from anyone. I was recommended this amp a few years ago by 'Awesome John' (RIP Awesome) and I should have bought and reviewed that at that time but did not partly because of costs involved, but also at that time the brand was not quite where it is today. It will be a real pleasure to review that one which will remain nameless until it is reviewed... but the name for many will be a new experience that should not be forgotten. Yes of course I will ask my friends at DV-Mark for as much info as I can find and will likely refer to the Multiamp in the new review. It just takes time to review and of course for me to go in a cycle of revolving gear to finance the next review. T.
Indeed - I am struggling with getting the sounds out of the Reaxis - because the way my studio is setup and wired... but I will persevere more.. currently I only have a short time to do it before I cant for a week or two but if I don't get it done presently I'll create a vid without sound and point viewers to a different review with tones in there.
Hey T, This has been very helpful so thanks for the time you spend doing these reviews. I've mulled over the choice out there for sometime and DV Mark is the one that suits given all considerations. My question is - whats your thoughts on a speaker cab to company this? Your top three picks?
Pat... SLOW DOWN. I heard the other day they have a completely new unit on the way that competes far better than this one. The new DV-Mark unit will be worth the wait - just trust me on that. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching.
Great review! I have a Multiamp on the way to my house this week and this video helped me out immensely with understanding the unit more clearly. Tony, how much better is the current firmware compared to the one you had when you first bought your Multiamp? I have my first show with this unit in a few weeks so I have to learn it pretty quickly!! lol
Lucky you... they are quite good especially if you don't want (or need) to get bogged down with techno cr*p for days :) The original V1 firmware I had... and it was very poor at that time, with little info for the unit. However, it has improved quite a lot, but has still not got too techie as I said. Overall still nice because of simplicity and nice tones.
I don't need convincing :) did you see my video of him at the Music Messa here: ruclips.net/video/tGsGS0uca8c/видео.html check it out... so close up and personal it bent my ears :). Stay safe.
Still can't decide between this or the kemper. In terms of feel and tone, do you think either has the upper hand? I live in Vietnam and have have access to none. Big fan of your reviews btw. It's just refreshing to see someone put heart and soul into such work -- and somewhat rare.
The answer is simple really: if you want something that you can spend hours fiddling with get a Kemper. If you want something more simple then get a Multiamp. They are different for sure, but you can spend WEEKS on end listening to profiles on the Kemper whereas on the Multiamp there are far less (they are still good) and you can literally use the Multiamp like a regular amp. The Kemper equivalent (with the internal amp) is considerably more expensive too so also consider that. I own both devices, update the Kemper probably once a month and update the Mutliamp about once a year. They both have 'feel' when you play, although I do think the Kemper has the edge on that aspect. However, having said that, listen to Andy James and you don't hear cr*p right? Highly likely Andy chose the Multiamp for a good reason... and most likely not because he was given one like often is the case with say an axe-fx. If you are more technical get the Kemper and if not then get the Multiamp. Thanks for watching BTW.
Great stuff Tony! would you say the dynamics are like a tube amp when you roll the guitar volume knob down to clean up a high gain amp? Also when running it through a 4x12 with say the rectifier does it still have that huge low end like a real recto? Would you prefer the multiamp recto or a kemper recto through a 4x12? Cheers fella!
Expect all previous payware add ons(amp simulations,no more payshop, all free from now on) to be included as well, and now with MIDi you could assign any slot of the preset to any button on your pedalboard,so you can switch on and off efefcts at pleasure (before was fixed, slot 1,button 1 etc..) support for external pedal (for volume or wha or whatever) and many other stuff, and a new "fatter" user manual will be online with it. Be prepared!
It will plug in to a regular guitar cabinet if you want to to... and if you use say a 1960a and set it as stereo it will do that too. As far as sounds go, the Multiamp sounds great - did you watch Andy James at the end of the video? and if you visit the DV-Mark site there are loads of players using them - it's nice and simple - use it like a real amp... did you watch the video? In any case... yes its a cool product especially for the money, and if you only want mono theres now a cheaper one for that too.
Tony while I know this is not relevant to this amp in the video, I've had respect for your opinions. I am looking at a couple different amps and in reviews I've asked opinions and got no replies...I am looking at the PRS Archon 25/13 and the EVH 50 watt 6l6 and really not sure which I want. Playing both rock and metal but also looking for a good clean sounds as well that takes pedals well. Any chance you could give me some insight as to which you think is best? Sure would be appreciated and thanks again for all your great videos, John
Hi Cat :) I have not really had any great experience with the PRS Archon amp. However, I have a number of friends with the EVH 50w heads. They tell me typically that the shared EQ is a REAL pain in the behind, when its good on one channel the others off so to speak. Having said that my friends have had a few of them and they keep going back. I have tended to stay clear of PRS amps for no real reason except that PRS has for some time tried to 'crack' the amp market with what was generally not great offerings even though Sewell (I think he is named) was claimed to be a very good designer. EVH amps as you might know are (or last I checked) made by Fender and the EVH brand is really a marketing type of thing I think. Best I can offer you on that. Oh one last thing, one of my friends DID have a problem with his 50w and that had to go back for repair. Hope it helps at least a little.
Thanks Tony for the quick and helpful reply. The new model 50 watt from what I've read is now able to keep the volume levels the same due to dual knobs for that which in the past was a major complaint. So it looks like they fixed that atleast. Also they have both EL34 and 6l6 versions and people are really liking the tone of the 6l6. I guess I'll have to find a retailer that has them both and hear for myself. Thanks again my friend, you always come through!
Sorry I could not offer more... I stayed away from both amps really and the feedback for the EVH from my friend made me stay away. But interesting about the volume thing... it always amazes me that they release amps with problems like that and the MK * fixes it! Thanks.
The DV-Mark is at (from what I see) end of life with a new one under development - however that unit is not currently in sight although I have a recording of that on my channel. The Fractal audio version 3 is way over priced (at least in Europe) and far too complex to easily use for most ordinary guitarists unless you stick with pre-sets (not recommended). The DV-Mark remains a better choice for ordinary users even at end of life also because the customer is not paying for things they generally do not need. Thanks.
Wondering if anyone on here can answer a question for me? When using the multiamp with a speaker cab, with the cab models turned off. Is it then possible to take a line out direct to the desk with the cab models turned on. So 2 outputs simultaneously, but with cabs only on one output going to the desk? Also, are there extra amp models/effects available to buy for the multiamp - if so where do you get them?
Is the voltage difference that bit a deal? I've found a Multiamp Mono (I only use a single cab) on Thomann. Would the voltage difference cause that much of a problem?
RustyR Not sure where you are Rusty... if you're UK and its 230 on the gear and you need 240? no difference buy it... of 110/120 and the gear is 230/240 then that might be a bit of an issue... you would need a step up transformer of adequate output...
Ahhh yess thanks I was hoping it would have some sort of channel switch :) now I can get one with ease.. love the video your the only that ive seen gove the full detail on the product thanks again
Hi thinking of purchasing this. Can i send a signal through the power amp to my cab with the cab sims off and at the same time send a signal to the pa with cab sims on. As similar to what the kemper does?
Hello Tony, Excellent in depth video ! I learned much from you ! A very Interesting video my friend ! Thumbs up and All**********stars for a very Informative Excellent video !!!!! God Bless ! Peace ! Chaz
matthew prior:) Well I do own both... and each one has its uses or I would have sold them or it by now. The Kemper offers a lot for the money... but the Multiamp inc. the power amp costs less in real terms. They can both sound good. Ultimately while the Kemper offers oodles of amps (there are so many 2/3 want deleting LOL) it's also IMO harder to use - but both are cool.
I thought this was a pretty cool amp when I reviewed it and I did have it for some while. While maybe todays standards have improved a little, once you got used to the OS it was not a bad product and the company was helpful too. There was/is supposed to be a new 'Super' model, but my guess is that virus times put paid to that at least for now. We shall see. Thanks.
You managed to get a Multiamp at HALF the price of an Axe FX? Or was that half the price of the Kemper? Where did you buy it? It's been a month since your post. How are you still enjoying the Multiamp? Looks like a very useful thing to have ... Would love to get my hands on one. I see that musician's friend has them for "pre-order" at $ 1499.99
Hey mate can you help me with a few questions? I received this last week was unsure where to plug the cabinet in so used the speaker out because I got the mono I just used one side of the jack turned it on and blown a fuse. so I put the spare in and decided to just plug it into the mains with no cab and it blown again. watching your video you mentioned something about blowing the amp with with wrong voltage.I'm waiting for a new one to arrive... could you tell me if I plugged the cabinet into the correct part of the dv mark and also what do I do to prevent the next one blowing? I plugged it right into the mains in my wall so what do I do? I'd really appreciate a reply thanks alot
+shaun young Speaker out to cabinet... that simple! You will see a mono out for mono and of course stereo use both... (in to a stereo cab!). The only thing that goes in to the mains is the power cord. Don't plug anything else in unless you are sure... and be careful. Don't get hurt.
Hey tony... Do you know of any good recording rack gear I can hook straight into the computer but still get that full tube sound then a good preamp so I can blast it thru the amp. We decided since these dubstep bands can sound great thru the computer where bringing the computer to the stage so we can have a consistent sound setup since no one knows seems to know how to use a damn soundboard.
Hi Nigel, sorry I sold it about two months ago to a guy in Ireland. Its a pretty good unit especially if you don't want to spend hours learning about the others out there. Thanks for watching.
I had the DV mark until about 4 months ago. I sold this unit because while it was good at what it did, I did not use it as much as I might have (remember I have loads of amps). However I did update it over time and the updates were useful. I would not say that they were as earth shattering updates as maybe the likes of Kemper, but it is still a pretty good piece of gear especially bearing in mind it has a stereo power amp in there. Hope it helps... thanks for watching.
tonymckenziecom thanks for the reply and Does it react somewhat like a real amp l because I want to get a amp & fx unit but I don’t know if I should get a helix or a kemper or a DV amp or a headrush or ax8 it’s so many to pick from lol
Today there are so many products. When I reviewed the Multiamp there was also the Axe-FX which frankly did NOT meet European standards and had bad welding among other things inside and lastly the Kemper amp. I have a Kemper and while it sounds better in my opinion, I can also tell you that over the years the Kemper has got harder to remember where everything is - they update all the time. The Multiamp is a very good product for someone who does not want to be a computer genius and wants to play! The Axe-FX was later updated but to be honest the Kemper beats that hands down and for less money (at least here). The build quality on the Multiamp is probably the best of the three. Other products have arrived such as the Line6 Helix which I reviewed here: ruclips.net/video/0sN-bwrDf2Y/видео.html and that's a very extensive review. The cut down Helix has basically the same sounds. The Helix is a land grab on stage and is too big for my liking so I sold that... but I've always had the Line6 Helix rack in mind... Hope it helps.
tonymckenziecom yea I don’t want a axe fx it’s hard to get good sounds because of its interface but I Heard that the kemper sounds really good but how does the DV amp sound next to the kemper?
Just an update, new Firmware it's on the way, with many many nice tweaks, and shortcuts, and adds and...well you'll see! And about SD cards,Tony, the only problem they said , is with bigger than 8 Gb.,does not matter if you use older Xd cards or newer faster ones, also with the new firmware you'll be able to format the card directly from the machine slot, just to avoid some instances with different OSs,and when loading a new Firmware, there will be a checksum to prevent loading corrupted files ;-)
I still think the Axe FX II is the best out there at the moment, especially with the current v10 firmware. the DV-Mark looks ok, but the interface is terrible and needs a lot of improvement. The Kemper looks good but I think aims for a more studio orientated marked rather than a live player. Would be good to get some video of the DV-Mark in a proper environment rather than just at the show
it worth the money compared to engl fireball for example they are same prize. i never tried one of these simulator amps..i am wonder if it have enough gain for metal tones :(
Different beasts :) but check the video here: ruclips.net/video/xTL1Q6A6U5c/видео.htmlm43s there is Andy James playing through one... and he sounds really cool. If he's not metal enough no one is :) Hope it helps and thanks fore watching.
Well, a tube amp does sound different... but something like the Multiamp is easier to carry around if you do gigs and has lots of effects in the amp... and this one is stereo. But if that does not matter then I would buy a tube amp... the sounds are generally nicer.
***** yes i know i have a tube amp but i am not really happy from the result... i feel them weak for palm mutes even with boost at front. its not shame to return to transistor amps again :))) sorry for my bad english not my mother lang
Your English is fine... I understand. Well, most the tube amps I have used are pretty good. The Multiamp will give you a good tone there is no question about that, but it has a slightly different 'feel' when you play it. On the plus side, it is pretty easy to use and is in effect three channel amplifier. The 'transistor' amps these days are still transistor, but the multiamp is a simulated sound and not at all like the old 'transistor' amps we have all used :) This sound is pretty good. There are other brands too that don't use tubes like kemper or fractal audio and others, so don't assume that the sound will be bad from one of these - it is better than many people think. I have used many different tube amps and each one has its good or bad points... for me, some amps are better suited for rock, some different for metal, some others for clean etc. so it becomes a choice of tube amp. But in the Multiamp and those others they can all produce clean to metal and everything in between because they are simulations of tube amps.
Tony, it's a pleasure to listen to your videos my friend ! ! Your whole vibe just screams "Mutha Fuckers, Dinosaurs ruled this planet until the dumb shits showed up ! !" Great sense of humor and a friendly presence. Thanks Bro ! ! I'm trying to find out if I can run my laptop through the USB port and use the MA as kind of a PA/driver. The mere fact that your still married and get to buy your gear should set you up for Sainthood ! ! HAAAA ! !
You know what, if you enjoyed the video that's all that matters really. I don't think you can do that what you're asking... but its been some time since I had one of these and the firmware changed etc. so I could be wrong.... ask them they are great guys and will answer you for sure. Ah the wife... well, she is an acquired choice :) I have been known to do the usual tricks... oh that, it was just £150 when in reality.... :) and - I'll tidy this up when I have finished filming.... that sort of thing you know :) and even.... I've borrowed this for a review. :) You think of a few... in fact I SHOULD make a video asking exactly what guys say when they get caught 'red handed' with gear - classic :). Stay safe.
Great review but computers and SD cards are rather off putting to me... I'm very impatient with tech (so the main operating simplicity appeals) I assume you can get the Multiamp with built in presets and never bother with SD cards and firmware updates if you so choose... That sounds like me. I mean, the presets must be pretty damn good, how can that not be enough?
Hi yes it has pre-set's and artist pre-sets too. The Multiamps best feature is how easy it is to use compared to the others out there. Remember one of the advantages of this type of gear is the free updates and tones. As it can emulate tube amps basically when you add a new one its like buying another amp :) now that can't be bad. Thanks for watching.
He he... "Now that can't be bad" Oh yes it can. Great though if endless choice your thing. Thanks again Tony; i actually had a bit of a break through with Jamup last night... I hadn't previously thought much of the flanger (phaser even less so) but having the settings really low has allowed me to keep much of what want in terms of drive and effect *and* definition... articulation, whatever you call it.
Thanks Tony. Fantastic review. I really appeciate it. Question: : I want to use it as a preamp for acoustic guitar too. Can I turn the Cab models off? Can I save the setting in the preset? Cheers, Frank :)
Hi Frank.. I believe you can... I have not done that with cabs really as I don't really play acoustic - but I also just upgraded to V3 OS on the Multiamp... tell you what, I'll check - if I don't get back to you ask again as I'm pretty busy... and thanks for watching.
***** Nice review of the Mulitamp, Tony. Were you ever able to find out if it can be used with an acoustic guitar? I'd like to get one of these units but would also want it for acoustic guitar if it will work for that purpose. I was thinking about plugging it into a Full Range amplified cabinet using the unbalanced outputs or XLR outputs if that will work. Thanks.
***** That's one thing I can't easily answer as I never tried that, except to say that you could use it without the preamp turned on (you can turn that off and have clean) so I guess it would work... stereo too :) btw thanks for watching.
Updating via SD card when it has a USB input seems old fashioned. I record all of my music with my Fractal & Line6 gear via USB. This won't work for me
I went on and bought the Axe Fx 2 and 11 rack was easy to get and sounds excellent. But, now I have to dispose of the 11 rack since the company is in California and the chorus effect went out, so now its TRASH!! :-)
+Birger Westin Of course it is a simulated guitar amp sound and is not really a true tube amp. I think this amp does have it's place (check out Andy James playing it) for guys that do not want to lug around amps. I like tube amps too remember so I don't need convincing that tube amps sound better, but this Multiamp can sound pretty good if you spend time with it. Thanks for the input and of course for watching.
Well, I still think that the Multiamp is an average transistor amp. It has the typical hard clean sound. When playing lower notes with an half acustic the bass tend to boom, and when playing higher notes it sounds thin. Spending time with it won´t change that fact. But I like your review though. /Birger
+Birger Westin Of course the 'amp' is a transistor amp, but the simulator is like the other ones out there its basically software. Remember the speaker choice on this device will change any 'boominess' etc. if you choose a different one. Hope it helps and thanks.
great video, I also have a multiamp and is a great machine. I subscribe to your channel, check my channel if you want and watch the videos with my recordings. Greetings!!
Wow, what a nutter. This was one of the weakest reviews I have ever heard. Talk about living in your own little world, this guy needs to find some friends that can be honest with him and hopefully straighten him out. Sorry Tony.
You sir have the best demos on you tube.Thank you for the hard work.
Tony, brilliant. It's like watching BBC kids TV in the 70s, except its all about new guitar kit! Love it, keep it up.
cool gear, I have always been very skeptical about all in one boxes especially ones without tubes, this one is actually kinda cool! Thanks for sharing the review!!
Thanks Tony. Your thoughts are much appreciated.
Those comments give me food for thought............
Great channel !
Although we're all guitar freaks, it doesn't hurt to be 'smart shoppers' with help like yours:-)
Thanks for the video I recently purchased a multiamp and I've learned a lot from you thanks again very informative
Not a bad amp and very well made... thanks for watching.
Still love watching your reviews! Any chance for some new material soon? Is there anything you're working on? Product reviews, or guitar builds?
Thanks!!!
This is a really awesome video. Congrats!
Thanks... and don't forget to check out the other amp reviews I have completed on my channel. Thanks for watching.
yessssss why i didnt see this before ? thanks for review Tony !!! as always great jobb here
Filip musiatowicz Hah you didn't look :) Glad you liked it. I really like Andy and it did show some of him as you might not always see him... just noodling (but what a great player). I like the multiamp too :) and thanks for watching.
always enjoy ur uploads
Filip musiatowicz Good to know :)

First i buy a Satch head because of your review
, now i am going to have to buy the Multiamp!!! If my partner asks i am blaming you mate! Great review as always Sir!!
Really enjoyed this review, THANK YOU!!! I hope to locate a dealer who ships to the States so I can pick one of these up.
Just got one of these 3rd hand. It had already been updated to firmware 5.1. Some initial comments:
@@tonymckenzieofficial I’ve been wondering about that dam smart multi amp , and the amp x from bluguitar , worst pandemic times
However.... Here's the USA Distro who should be able to help with demos and all that other good stuff ;-)

@@tonymckenzieofficial I play metal music.I want a device near close tube amp.Stop.
and play on cabinet.
The answer to this is you really MUST try the different simulators that are out there. Taking someone's word re the sound and capabilities for something that is awash with brands these days could be problematic. Remember, what is great to one guy, the next may dislike intensely. Sound is so subjective really.
Yes we agree about that,I just wanna point out that ,imho of course, for live situation it is better than the other twos.... ;-)
Thanks for watching.
nice and great sounds thanks
YOU ROCK MAN!!! THANK YOU!
This video helped me a lot when I got my multiamp thank you so much it's killer
Great to hear... that's the primary reason I made it - to help others. Thanks for watching.
great review
jessy danison Thanks for watching Jessy...
andy's shredding is a trademark ....
I don't need convincing :) did you see my video of him at the Music Messa here: ruclips.net/video/tGsGS0uca8c/видео.html check it out... so close up and personal it bent my ears :). Stay safe.
@@tonymckenzieofficial my decision was right that i subscribed you... thanks tony ..... :)
Well thanks....
Expect all previous payware add ons(amp simulations,no more payshop, all free from now on) to be included as well, and now with MIDi you could assign any slot of the preset to any button on your pedalboard,so you can switch on and off efefcts at pleasure (before was fixed, slot 1,button 1 etc..)
support for external pedal (for volume or wha or whatever) and many other stuff, and a new "fatter" user manual will be online with it. Be prepared!
So does this product plug into any average amp cabinet? Can this thing give you any sound you demand?
Any chance you could give me some insight as to which
you think is best?
Thanks.
I have a question which is Better the DV Mark or the Fractal 3?
Also, are there extra amp models/effects available to buy for the multiamp - if so where do you get them?
hi there is one question i want to ask could i plug this straight into a cabinet and play live.....
Yes!
thank you for your time....
Hello! Can you tell me if there is any difference on sound between stereo and mono version when only using one cab?
THANKS!!!
+andycc231 I would describe it as similar... but there's nothing quite like a stereo rig for that all encompassing sound with real width.
+tonymckenziecom Thank you!!!
***** Looks like I'll carry on with my order then! You've definitely put my mind as ease.
Where in the UK are you based Tony?
RustyR Staffordshire... smoke on stench :)
I don't know if you've talked about it but is there a footswitch input option available on the multiamp. I didnt get to watch the whole video
Hi, you can use any MIDI pedal... easy too :)
Ahhh yess thanks I was hoping it would have some sort of channel switch :) now I can get one with ease.. love the video your the only that ive seen gove the full detail on the product thanks again
Matthew Sanchez Yes there are not many in depth videos of the Multiamp and thts a pity because its not a bad amp really.
Hi thinking of purchasing this. Can i send a signal through the power amp to my cab with the cab sims off and at the same time send a signal to the pa with cab sims on. As similar to what the kemper does?
Hello Tony,
Excellent in depth video !
I learned much from you !
A very Interesting video my friend !
Thumbs up and All**********stars for a very Informative
Excellent video !!!!!
God Bless !
Peace ! Chaz
would you recommend this or the Kemper? looking to buy asap so a straight up answer would be great!
Kemper more complex... Multiamp less complex. Each has its own benefits.
I knew you would say that. Ha ha ha
matthew prior:) Well I do own both... and each one has its uses or I would have sold them or it by now. The Kemper offers a lot for the money... but the Multiamp inc. the power amp costs less in real terms. They can both sound good. Ultimately while the Kemper offers oodles of amps (there are so many 2/3 want deleting LOL) it's also IMO harder to use - but both are cool.
Ok thank you as a very broad played (theatre work-djent metal) the more choice the better.
Does anyone happen to know how well this works with a non dv mark midi pedal?
Sorry too long ago for me to remember... but someone out there might know the answer...
@@tonymckenzieofficial thanks Tony, got your email. How did you find the amp until you changed it up?
I thought this was a pretty cool amp when I reviewed it and I did have it for some while. While maybe todays standards have improved a little, once you got used to the OS it was not a bad product and the company was helpful too. There was/is supposed to be a new 'Super' model, but my guess is that virus times put paid to that at least for now. We shall see. Thanks.
@@tonymckenzieofficial emailed dv mark about that, no response!
I am not sure about the present position with staff at DV Mark... but do try a few times. Also if you're in the UK they have a distributor...
+tonymckenziecom Hey. I have already sent it back. all I was getting was clean tones even on the mesa channel 3 it was really annoying
+shaun young OK. I was in Dallas for a week or so and could not get to the emails because of a time issue. Let me know what happens.
+tonymckenziecom no problem mate. I'm going to get a computer and play though that
+shaun young OK
ThatGuy:p Try a Kemper Rack... great tones... and so real you won't know any difference :) or indeed the Multiamp can do that too.
Hi Tony do you still have this DV Mark if so is it for sale...Nigel
Hi Nigel, sorry I sold it about two months ago to a guy in Ireland. Its a pretty good unit especially if you don't want to spend hours learning about the others out there. Thanks for watching.
Hey tony do you still have the dv amp and how have the updates been over the years and what amps are in the unit?
The Kemper is better sounding IMO but it costs a fair bit more too...
*****
yes i saw him:)
i dont know iam confused to choose....
anyway ty genteel man
Well, a tube amp does sound different... but something like the Multiamp is easier to carry around if you do gigs and has lots of effects in the amp... and this one is stereo. But if that does not matter then I would buy a tube amp... the sounds are generally nicer.
*****
yes i know i have a tube amp but i am not really happy from the result...
i feel them weak for palm mutes even with boost at front.
its not shame to return to transistor amps again :)))
sorry for my bad english not my mother lang
But in the Multiamp and those others they can all produce clean to metal and everything in between because they are simulations of tube amps.
is this by the same company as markbass?
Yes it is. DV-Mark and MarkBass are the one and the same. They make other amps too. Thanks for watching.
Italians they have the best world hi fi in the world
I'm not sure? maybe they do?
tonymckenziecom yes you need to study history about hi-fi world a little bit maybe. By the way, great review.
Thanks for the info... I will. And thanks for watching. There is a review coming up of the new super multiamp when I can get one... its on backorder.
@@tonymckenzieofficial you mean the Smart Multiamp?
Shows how new it is - I can't make my mind up what its called :) @@NuZTheRockerOFFICIAL
Stay safe.
I believe the USB port is just to use the editor software
No editor at original review time though...
@@tonymckenzieofficial Go to the website and it’s on the product page.
Wakey wakey.... this was reviewed in 2013 when there was no editor. Check the date on the video. Thanks.
what this ltd guitar?
He he... "Now that can't be bad"
Oh yes it can.
Kiljoy Jamup is not bad especially for the money... I did review it a while ago. It can cook up some stuff for sure.
This won't work for me
You should really start to sell your own "Tony Mc inside & out" merchandise.....♫♪
Its an interesting proposition... but unlikely. I mean... how many would buy them?
Hey Tony, go get an Axe chassis and pull it apart or at least try. Video it and put it here on you tube. We could all use a laugh.
any foot switch?
I went on and bought the Axe Fx 2 and 11 rack was easy to get and sounds excellent. But, now I have to dispose of the 11 rack since the company is in California and the chorus effect went out, so now its TRASH!! :-)
I´ve tried it and it´s a transistor amp with NO chance against a quality tube amp.
Don't hold breath too much....it's dangerous you know!! ;-)
great video, I also have a multiamp and is a great machine. I subscribe to your channel, check my channel if you want and watch the videos with my recordings. Greetings!!
Thanks for watching! I'll check your channel too.
Let it go Tony, this kind of behaviour is not worth a penny ;-)
Poor people,with sad lives.....
Its really super hard to understand your accent.
Wow, what a nutter. This was one of the weakest reviews I have ever heard. Talk about living in your own little world, this guy needs to find some friends that can be honest with him and hopefully straighten him out. Sorry Tony.
