Another meaning of Umbrige’s first name is that “dolor” is Spanish for “pain” with”dolores” being the plural. This goes with how she causes immense pain to countless people, both physically and emotionally
Edit: after checking a translator, the same also holds true for Latin

In the Dutch translation, some of the names are also genius puns:
Dumbledore is Perkamentus (Perkament = parchment)
McGonagall is Anderling, “ander” meaning someone else, refering to McGonagall being an Animagus
Trelawney is Zwamdrift, “zwam”means mushroom or bullshitting, and drift means to want something very much. Here name literally means “wants to talk bullshit” 😂
Hermione’s name is Hermelien Griffel, a griffel is a stylus or pencil, and the phrase “tien met een griffel” (an A with a stylus) means to ace a test
Weasley is Wemel in Dutch. “Wemelen” means that it’s very crowded somewhere, tying in to the fact there’s many Weasleys.
Scrimgeour is Schobbejak, which means lowly criminal
Stan Shunpike is Sjaak Stuurman (stuur = to steer/drive and man is well… man) so he’s a driving man…
McNair is Vleeschouwer, wich combined “vlees” (meat) with “houwer” (cutter), making his name mean “meat cutter” since he’s Buckbeak’s executionist.
Tom Riddle is Marten Viliin (I know, very different, but otherwise the anagram did not work). The word “vilein” (pronounced the same as “vilijn” means cunning and villainous, and is therefore also a pun.
There’s many more examples of punny names in the Dutch translation (all of the names got Dutchified (except for Harry Potter), but these were the best ones.

This is because of animals being affected, stupidity when lighting them resulting in serious injuries. Snape is an english village, and a manor that once belonged to Catherine Parr's first husband. Hagrid comes from hagridden- meaning, nightmare - ridden by hags. Many of the names were discussed by Stephen Fry, actually, in the QI series. :)

"Draconian" was actually named after the Greek lawmaker Draco, who made nearly any crime in Athens punishable by death. To be honest, that interpretation is more Umbridge's domain.

Another perhaps un-founded theory for the last name Pettigrew could be translated as the "pet that grew''. As seen in the Prisoner of Azkaban, Peter, being the Animagus that he was, eventually grew(transfigured) from his pet rat form Scabbers, into his human form Peter Pettigrew, hence the name.

Katniss - Derived from the botanical name for the arrowhead plant, Sagittaria, which means archer or hunter; Katniss hunts to feed her family, being adept with archery. (The article I learned this from actually had MovieFlames video embedded.)
Peeta - A homophone for "pita," which is a type of bread; Peeta came from a family of bakers.
Primrose - A flower that has medicinal uses; Prim becomes a young medic later in the series.
Panem - Taken from "panem et circenses," a Roman term that translates to "bread and circuses(or games)," which refers to gaining public approval through cheap methods that are meant to distract people from issues rather than put in the effort to fix anything; the Hunger Games have become a sort of sporting event for the districts, despite having originally been a punishment in light of district thirteen's failed rebellion.

Like this comment, if you want the 2nd part too!

Seeing as Kingsley is a British character, I don’t think his name would only be referring to America, especially since the majority of black slaves went to Brazil, the Caribbean, South America, and of course, were enslaved in Africa and still are today.

one thing i really love about draco's name's is that the chinese fandom describe draco as "he is the dusk that cannot fall to night nor a dawn that can shine up bright" referencing the constellation's position in the sky and draco's character in the story, a person who is never actually evil yet also cannot truly turn good, it is just so 'chef's kiss', it's referenced in several draco based videos in bilibili
