I really love this head unit because it is flush and it doesn’t have any ugly ass buttons like most aftermarket head units. It’s a great head unit for people who want a factory look.

Got this head unit for $250 from Cartoys and it also came with a free $60 backup camera!
I WARN YOU RN. My back up camera froze this device, I called pioneer about it and they said they would put it in a future update but far future. Warn you rn test your back up cameras , and make sure you turn the stereo on and off before you put everything back. If it does get froze, just unplug power and remove fuse

I can't seem to decide with this unit or the Pioneer AVH-1440NEX. Both are the same price and I like the smooth look on this unit, but the AVH seems to have better reviews and has HD radio and DVD player (not that I'll need it). Any comments or suggestion?
Get the AVH-2300 way better and has a CD and a bigger screen + Android auto for almost same price. Look for deals online don't settle for expensive sellers.
AVH-2300 is similar to AVH-2330 except the HD radio
AVH-2400 is similar to AVH-2300 except they removed rear camera guidelines. AVH-2440 is similar to AVH-2400 except the HD radio.

I just ordered one for my weekend fun car Miata NC. I also have the basic 200EX that I plan on sending back as I really want Carplay features primarily for the maps and iphone intergration improvements. I am getting a bit concerned by the look of the screen and wondering with this top down vehicle if the screen will be too hard to see due to glare.
My radio connects to Bluetooth on the Bluetooth setting but when I try to connect to pandora and Spotify it can't connect to Bluetooth

This is the best looking unit on the market by far. It's super stealth and OEM looking.. but why does it look slower than my game boy advance? Seriously it's 2018. It should be super responsive and snappy. Is the CarPlay really that laggy? I'm looking to upgrade my stock base Subaru headunit. Also looking at the SONY XAV AX5000.
I'm in the EXACT same boat as you, upgrading my girlfriend's Impreza and adding a backup camera. The AX5000 looks snappy and slick. I bought a 1400NEX and 1440NEX because they were on sale. But the Sony is the one I keep leaning towards. Any thoughts, guys?

That's a good looking unit. I picked up a Sony ax5000 yesterday and am going to install it this week. The videos I saw online made it look more responsive than the pioneers. I tried the 1400NEX in store and it felt a little laggy. Was looking for a CarPlay unit.

Yes, select camera in the source menu, if your camera is wired to constant power it should display.

Personally, I'd pick the 1400NEX. It's $80 cheaper and I like the touchscreen buttons over the physical ones on the DMH

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (Rec Navigation radio/Boston Acoustics Amplifier). I’m trying to figure out all the things I will need to install this and still have steering controls, etc.. I know I need the metra double din kit, but what else? I would imagine factory harness adaptor, but should I go with the pac interface or maestro idatalink rr2? Will the maestro bypass my factory amplifier, ultimately leading to me removing it? Their site does say that model is compatible, so I’m guessing diagnostics (tire pressure, obd codes, etc) will be a visible option. Just want to make sure it will take care of steering, gps, and all other capabilities while using the amplifier from the head unit. I also see concerns with my vehicle and the canbus hook up, would you happen to know what I should do about hooking that up, or does the maestro resolve that as well? I really appreciate if you’re able to give insight!

Yup it should work fine! The stereo has a simple Backup Camera RCA input in the rear, your backup camera should have an RCA output that was already connected to the previous receiver!

Not critical enough. Why is Pioneer, in 2018, releasing a reheated four-year-old deck but removing a useful second USB (so you can switch between playing files from a USB stick and your smartphone without plugging and unplugging each time) and still not implementing Android Auto, when they already produce decks that do support AA? Sony has it right with the XAV-AX5000 - capacitive 6.95" display with TWO USB inputs and CarPlay AND Android Auto!

Agreed. Fry's had a 25% off sale last week so I picked both up and A/B'd them at home. I like the simplicity and streamlining of the Sony interface. And from what I've been reading you don't have to install the Axxess ASWC-1 to use the Subaru's steering wheel controls.

What's your opinion on the 1400 vs the 2300 (or 2330) or 2440? I'm coming down to one of these and having a heck of a time finding a heads up comparison.
So the biggest difference between the 1400NEX and the 2300/2330 is the disc slot. The other main difference is the 1400 only has Apple Carplay and the 2300/2330 have both Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The 1400 has no disc slot, its a digital media receiver, so if you have to play CD's or DVD's the 2300/2300 are a better option. The difference between the 2300 and 2330 is HD Radio for the 2330. Personally, the 1400NEX is my favorite radio right now. But if you have an android phone and need a disc slot it may not be for you.

Ohhh possibly! I didn't have the brake bypassed when filming so I don't think so!

You cannot download RUclips onto stereos. Video apps do not work. Some stereos feature app linking apps like Kenwood's WebLink app which uses RUclips. But that's a slow operating system.
