    How well rested you are will of course affect heart rate. Too tired then it won’t elevate. Phil is right on the money as per focusing on heart rate

      James B At every XC race I’ve done, you stand mostly motionless in a crowded grid for thirty to forty five minutes before you get to start. Pretty rough on the body when you get to be over fifty.

    would you recommend warming up at all for an everest if im planning on holding 210w? of should i just take the first rep at 180 and use that to shakeout ?

    • @jamesfetter2659
      @jamesfetter2659 4 года назад +1

      I wouldn't warm up, because the pace that you are maintaining should be well below an aerobic effort, especially for the first couple laps.

    • @trbeyond
      @trbeyond 4 года назад

      Your effort for a 9+ hour ride should feel extremely easy the first several reps. You shouldn’t need to warm up to be able to ride at that easy effort. If so, it probably isn’t easy enough. Stay cool and preserve your glycogen.
