The fact that a joke song about literal gibberish is produced and arranged better than 95 percent of rap nowadays is really sad lol Thrashers faces he makes never fail to make me laugh though haha
English is my second language and what really adds to the accuracy of this is that sometime there are words that you already know mixed in there like "power" or "mtv", but then all the rest goes over your head. And also it freaks you out when they use your own language all of the sudden. Mine is Spanish and suddenly hearing it in the song is so funny
You know I've often wondered how we sound to other people and that makes total sense. Try watching a RUclips video in another language and you're like, "Sure... pancakes, mmhmm?"
"How Rap Sounds to Non English Speakers" = "How Icelandic Rap Sounds to Native Icelandic Speakers" Fr I'm Icelandic but half the time I don't understand my country's rap songs
Loved your reaction! I'm an 8th grade science teacher and I showed this to my class. What's great is that there is absolutely nothing offensive, so I was able to play it to my kids without worrying about content. I'm also in a school where the demographics are majority hispanic and african american... They lost their minds!
As an English speaker, what this felt closest to me is kpop. A lot of kpop has this sound/vibe, with some English words or phrases scattered through the lyrics, and since I'm already used to not understanding the words of those songs, this didn't feel all that different
honestly, i don't think this devalues modern rap lyrics or delivery styles as much as it does just illustrate how important rhythm and solid flow is to rap. a lot of the worst mumble rappers frankly clown on themselves, that point doesn't need belaboring. but this essentially has no lyrics at all - it's just rhythmically pleasing and flows really well, and on those two things alone it sounds pretty great.
If you look at the lyrics for the song in Daniel Thrasher's video description, it'll be easy to find a few random easter eggs thrown in haha. You paused at the perfect time to hear the spanish in there. It was probably obvious, but when I played it straight through on my first listen I somehow missed it. There's a really obvious 'M T V' that you probably saw. There's also a random 'Austin Powers' that I somehow missed the first time through too. Probably more that I forgot about too.
I was 2nd place in a spelling bee once too. I was in grade 4, we were up to grade 8 level, and I got tripped up by "Saskatchewan". To this day, I can't help but feel capitalization shouldn't count as spelling. That or spelling bees shouldn't allow capitalized words. 🤬😂
I'd wager that I have a pretty good grasp on the English language, but that's what rap still sounds to me most of the time. I understand the words, but they still make no sense most of the time. I feel that has more to do with the content of the lyrics than the language. Most modern rappers just spew nonsense as long as it rhymes somehow.
granted, this is the easiest question when it comes to a spelling bee, with her asking "use it in a sentence" she got the word on screen a few times, by that you could easily figure out that it is spelled I-G-O-W-A-L-L-A-H
The other dancers are like what’s up with this guy then one of them is like yeah he’s great. And he sounds like the southern lawyer sort of skit. And the actual dance is somewhat river dance as well as his dance.
It’s interesting how many english speaking people here have missed the joke by thinking its joking about todays raps like mumble rap. the joke is in the title how can you miss it?
Trinidad Soca / Dancehall is full of flarning filth. To find out how much Dutch people actually understood what was sung I played a Soca /Dancehall mix at full volume. 100s of people walked by, 0 people noticed. In case anyone understood the lyrics I apologized (gestured) when the flarnin' 😉 was expressed (verbally). 😅
I'm gonna test my luck and recommend "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" by Lemon Demon, lol. It's really old, but in my head it's like Toon Sandwich making a song out of their Fanfictasia series, absolute greatness.
This is 1000% accurate. That's even still mostly true for people that speak English as a second language. It's way too fast, the pronunciation is affected to fit the rhythm or rime, we know most of what's being said is bs anyway, so why would I make a huge effort in order to understand 60% to 80% of what's being said? Depending on the song even less than that. I simply don't. The rest of the sound takes over and 80% of what's being said goes right over my head. Still, I this video makes me laugh a lot. We can tell it's gibberish, but it's also way too accurate.
@@drummersnare6276 If they could, maybe they would listen to it a little less. The thing is, everyone on the globe is used to how American English sounds, even when they don't understand it. Too many songs, movies, series and stuff. As long as it sounds nice, we don't care about what's being said. This happens to anybody as long as the language the song is in doesn't sound weird. It doesn't take much for a language not sound odd anymore. Just some hours of exposure and you get used to it.
@@lucassouza9845 Yeah I guess so. American music is the most popular in the world so they’re just used to it. Americans don’t listen to music in other languages because it sounds too weird lol
Sounds better than most rap I have heard. 🤣 I don't know if you are still planning on doing a top pitch meeting list or not, but I got to thinking about my favorites, many of which I have enjoyed hearing you react to, and put a starter list together. In case you find it helpful as a jumping off point, here it is (in no particular order). Miss Marvel Mandalorian (seasons 1&2) Sharknado Star Wars Holiday Special Top Gun: Maverick Velma Cocaine Bear The Matrix Resurrections Old Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory F9: The Fast Saga WandaVision Coraline Endgame Trailer Home Alone 3 Tenet Twilight: Breaking Dawn (though honestly all of the Twilight movies could be on this list) Attack of the Clones Rise of Skywalker Dragonball Evolution She Hulk Stranger Things Season 4 Moonfall Logan Batman and Robin Howard the Duck Avatar: The Last Airbender Cats Avengers Endgame Tiger King The Happening John Wick Space Jam
That's how generally the music in English sounded to me, especially the old school rap, though the old one sounds more.. understandable, but in general this mumble Thing Yeah, bunch of sonsense sounds as If a toddler tries to complain. And speaking of "the o.g" hip hop or generally foreign music it feels like :" It sounds so catchy, but I can't understand anything" 😂
As a former non English speaker I can confirm that this is what we hear.
Same
As another former non English speaker I can confirm that that is what I hear during raps
i want to hear german rap
Don't worry. I'm an English speaker and modern rap sounds like this to me as well. 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Trust me. English speakers hear this too.
The fact that a joke song about literal gibberish is produced and arranged better than 95 percent of rap nowadays is really sad lol Thrashers faces he makes never fail to make me laugh though haha
I agree with everything in this comment 😂
Truth!!
The beat is fire!!!
No one helped the announcer because it was Daniel Thrasher and they knew it would be a wasted effort. He’s too powerful
no, it was hoodie guy
The seasoning still applies
Y'know, when he said "Howma tima tuh gowa gowa ta blitty dowa da", I really felt that.
🤣🤣🤣

The "Power" part is actually just "Austin Powers" btw.
Is it bad that I unironically have Igowallah on my playlist
LOL
No
I wish there was an actual song that sounded like that
no
You know I've often wondered how we sound to other people and that makes total sense. Try watching a RUclips video in another language and you're like, "Sure... pancakes, mmhmm?"
😂😂😂😂
It does make ya think about how other cultures hear us.
Grew up in a French-speaking country, and that's really how I used to hear English rap before I learned the language.
And that's how I hear any language I don't know, which is everything except 6 languages.
English is my first language, and this is exactly what most of today's rap sounds like to me.
"How Rap Sounds to Non English Speakers" = "How Icelandic Rap Sounds to Native Icelandic Speakers"
Fr I'm Icelandic but half the time I don't understand my country's rap songs
Why is this happening at a spelling bee? Because they summoned him by way of gibberish. It's the ancient ritual.

One said, "this goofy white boy is wreckin it yo." I about died lollll
😂😭🤣
What do you know.... Daniel finally made an orignal song.
As an English speaker, what this felt closest to me is kpop. A lot of kpop has this sound/vibe, with some English words or phrases scattered through the lyrics, and since I'm already used to not understanding the words of those songs, this didn't feel all that different
the production quality is insane for a youtube video!
Right!!!
To be fair, that's how most of modern music sounds to me lately. 😅

I honestly love the beat the song has, especially the bass
He had to learn 3 or 4 minutes of jibigribidibi by heart...
I’m ONLY an English speaker AND THAT’S IT EXACTLY👀💯
That’s how rap sounds to me most of the time, and I only speak English.
That’s what rap sounds like to me, and I was born here 😂
after watching this video, I've actually added "well, welm, gelm" to my vocabulary
😂😂

I’m gonna memorize every word of his song it was the best 2:50 of my life
I downloaded this song and listen to it every day
genius. that´s what i hear every time rap music plays 😂😊
The part in 3:13 is exactly how English used to sound to me when I started learning it, LOL!
He's so funny! I love how he makes good music (he is a musician after all), and not just comedy. This is how rap sounds to me anyways!
This is how English sounds now 😵

Yeah, you have to have a REALLY good grasp on english to comprehend most rap, as it relies on quickly interpreting uncommon words. Also it is FAST.
I love Daniel Thrasher's videos. He has to have a college degree in gibberish
still better than 95% of rap music nowadays
Ok, but the fact that I'm dancing to the beat tho like, that's hot. 😂😂😂.
So sad. 🤦🏾♀️

Thank you for reacting! I loved your reaction! Great video!
😃🙌🏿
It belongs in the top 40 for sure.
I was so into the rhythm that I tried to turn on the subtitles to understand what he was saying
Okay but this is an actual banger though like damn
Great stuff!!! That “interview” reminded me of Chris Kattan doing Suel Forrester on SNL.
Oh my God!!!! YES!!!!!! 🤣🤣
As a non native English speaker, I can't understand English songs unless I'm looking at the lyrics 😂😂
so true, so real
Ok, all his flows are on point tho. 👌🏾
Modern music in a nutshell
FLIPPITY WA!
Not this sounding like a sims rap. Bros a sim character now. 😂
🤣🤣😂😂🤣

The Flarnin' filth reference comes from Eddie Murphy/Delirious describing Bill Cosby
😂 that had a great beat!!
Right!! I'd keep listening to it just for that.
It goes both ways. Look up rap in a language you don't understand.
Thrasher is hilariously nuts.
I'm gonna test my luck and recommend "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" by Lemon Demon, lol. It's really old, but in my head it's like Toon Sandwich making a song out of their Fanfictasia series, absolute greatness.
As an english speaker I sometimes hear this anyway
😂😂😂
this mug is spitting
Look, with all the languages in the world. Someone will understand this. 🤷🏾♀️
😂😂
2:57 As someone who can sort of speak simlish you don't want to know what hoodie guy said....
Dog, this is what it sounds like to English speakers half the time
😂🤣😂🤣
