- ASRock has launched a mid-range product with features and specifications that can only be found on a high-end motherboard. I introduce to you the $350 Z790 Taichi Lite. At this price point, competitors have no products that come close to it in terms of specifications and features. Let's have a look at what sets the ASRock Z790 Taichi Lite apart from the other similarly priced motherboards.

Can you name a better Z790 motherboard at this price point?
According to my Apple watch and Health app I've averaged 2.95 hours of sleep over the last 16-days as I finish sourcing components for my first gaming PC build since 2007 (with a 2012 refresh) and I can confirm your comment is both brilliant and valid. There IS no better Z790 motherboard in the Milky Way at the moment when considering the price (and possibly even agnostic of prices aside from novel products like Aquas and the like). For anyone looking, and anyone reading this, ASRock's Taichi Z790 Lite and even their primary Z790 Taichi (as well as their prior-gen Z690 Taichi DDR5 and virtual twin Z690 Taichi Razer Edition) are ALL you should worry about trying to find in stock and otherwise buying. Period.
I haven't found anything better. ASRock's Z790 Nova comes close but it doesn't have as powerful power phases nor does it have the Killer's DoubleShot Pro software. That requires two compatible NICs to combine together. At least, it document that it can. Although, technically, Intel owns the Killer brand, the Nova doesn't have the Killer brand Wi-Fi like the Taichi Lite does.
omg i am in love with this mboard :D
Likewise🙂
Thank you for the review! I haven't felt comfortable with the Z790 series motherboards. Was waiting for a refresh that had better power delivery and memory stability for DDR5 without costing $500+. This is exactly what I was hoping for! I can even upgrade the Wi-Fi to 7 whenever I decide to upgrade my router to 7. But really the deciding factors were the beefy power phases and the number of NVMe slots. Don't need gold plated heatsinks and a mirror finish on the caps. Just give me features but not too many of the crazy ones that hardly anyone uses. 🙂
That board looks amazing! But the lightning will have to do for me🙂.
You do, what you got to do🙂 Lightning is also pretty good👍
Is this motherboard capable of 8000Mhz ram overclock? The stock spec of 7200Mhz means little..
How to even OC ram?
Aside from the aesthetic difference compared to the taichi, what are the actual differences?
None. Specs and features are exactly the same. That is what makes it so good, in my opinion.
It hasn't the new thing power gpu buy motherboard not yet 😢
And for AMD platform? No the same good MB available?
Nobody likes Intel, cause they are heater! 🎉
There is B650E Taichi Lite. Same thing but for AMD.
i have to say with the i9 and 4090 on that thing, my basement stays nice and cozy when playing skyrim with 300 mods and 128 player bf2042
I've used AMD and Intel for the last 35 years. Intel has always been best for compatibility. It's just the nature of their business model. AMD tends to go for performance or at least more cores. Each has their pluses and minuses. For example, Intel CPUs tend to run hotter and are less energy efficient. AMD tends to have random bugs like the whole USB sleep issue.
I even tested both the AMD 7000 series and Intel 13th gen, and I've had fewer issues with Intel, so I stayed with Intel. I had AMD for awhile before that. In other words, it's all about who puts out the best product for me.
No one is selling this board.
