There's so much to unpack about this.
In the DHL plane, the pilot and F/O instantly became passengers in their own plane. Nothing they did after the collision could have possibly save them, as the tail was basically destroyed.

Well, I think he saw the Russian plane approaching. After the crash, sounds from the plane sounded. The most horrible thing is that the plane sank about 70 degrees, making turns. If you are wondering why the CVR lasts a short time, it is because after the impact one of its motors was torn off and without a motor the power goes away and without power the CVR stops recording. The impact of the plane was so horrible that the rear part was the only part that could be repaired.

I'm am late to reply, but the CVR cut off because of the engines detaching due to the freefall of the plane. when the vertical stabilizer tore off they had no control, so they entered a flat spin which weakened the engines, causing them to tear off, hence the CVR abruptly cutting off.

@@nitsgupta6670 The anti-collision (TCAS) system told 611 to descend, and 2937 to climb, however the ATC was distracted and told 2937 to descend, the pilots of 2937 should've prioritized TCAS directions, but listened to the controller instead, 611 ended up crossing just below 2937, the vertical stabilizer of 611 shearing right through the middle of 2937, splitting it in two. I'd assume the pilots of 611 were a lot calmer because only the tail section of the plane had been destroyed, so they were less aware of the extent of the damage.
