It's funny when price gets involved, hate goes up 1,000%. As someone who's worked with DAW for music production, I can tell you that professional hard drives and interfaces are expensive. My last workstation involved internal storage, working storage, backup storage, and cloud storage. ALL several thousand dollars each but when an artist nails a take, you don't risk losing it cause you cheap out on storage and/or interfaces. If you are thinking this is a replacement for an Apple TV to stream Netflix, it's not. This is designed for purpose-built home theaters who want access to content before anyone else. Exclusivity is expensive otherwise it's not "exclusive". My $.02...

Kaleidoscope is a high-end brand, offering high-end products and, as such, not for everyone. Still don't understand the pricing model. Either you make money with the movies and licences or with the hardware. But the margin on the hardware is just crazy for that hardware that is installed. As internet lines are getting faster and faster, some local ssd capacity is good enough. Traffic is in most cases no more counted and charged at colocation companies, so delete and download again does not increase any cost for Kaleidescape company. If that hardware would be less than 2k, i think they would gain many more customers than today. Completely wrong pricing model in my opinion.
