The Pixels suck at games, but if you do not play games, then the Pixel is excellent. However, RAM management could be better compared to my iPhone and S24U. I did a test overnight, opening 20 apps before I went to bed, and all 20 were still open on the iPhone eight hours later; the S24U had 16, but the Pixel only had 4. I assume they do this to save battery. This also happens during the day, with apps kicked out of RAM far too often. This is cheating on battery life in my opinion, but others may not mind restarting apps on a regular basis.

@@andyH_England I think "sucks at games" is such a stretch imo, we have more casual gamers whom it'll work for super fine, a majority of them really. For heavy gamers who care about numbers and details and all shouldn't go for the G4 though. About the overnight RAM, they do most of the background stuff at night (I think it would be perfect if they only did It during charging) they do a lot of stuff to work on battery and to be sincere, 20 apps running in the background by morning is also a stretch imo, or maybe not a real world thing which is what they really look to combat. They focus on real world usecase not the benchmark kinda things and leaving 20 (or just many) apps to run in the background overnight, I'm a heavy phone user and an app developer and I can't seem to find such a usecase, I'd prefer S24U to manage RAM that way for even more juice you know. That would be super useful for me

They've fixed the biggest problems: screen, battery life, modem, fingerprint sensor, and 7 years of support. I can live with the slower processor. The Pixel 5 was already fast enough for how I use it.

The reviewer here refers to the 9 Pro as a thousand-dollar phone--I wish it was a thousand dollars! I opted for the 256G version, since 128G on a flagship phone is simply insulting in 2024, especially since storage is still non-expandable. I have the Google Pixel 6 Pro, my first Pixel phone and though it has it issues I have genuinely enjoyed it and will thus consider getting another Pixel. However, with each new phone purchase I am open to what might be a better fit for me. That said, Samsung usually has better hardware specifications, yet I had always long for a pure Android experience and my Pixel has delivered that. And, I just can't seem to bring myself to go back to an iPhone after more than 16 years, and continue to find Android to be the more desirable mobile opening system (OS) for me. Thanks for the review. God bless,

Wasn't using my M43 camera gear, so I sold it and upgraded from Pixel 7 to Pixel 9 Pro - so far, so good, so really good 😁.
Not concerned about the Tensor G4's processing power for games, not a gamer, more for photo and video processing.
Will be interested to see how Android 15 updates over the next year pan out, not so much for new features, more for improvements to the camera performance (portrait mode for instance).
Do really like "pro" features in a "normal" sized phone, though 😂.

I have a Pixel 7 I need to upgrade from as I literally miss calls, have trouble connecting to cellular data from home and other not so great signal areas and it drives me nuts. Has the reception issues been resolved with the Pixel 9 series? Or is the new modem hype? Please advise because I need to upgrade or change brands. Thank you.

I went and bought a oneplus 12r based on your reviews. IMO, it was a terrible phone. I couldn't get "Hey, Google" to work consistently. There was a ton of bloatware, even in the settings app. It did have a great screen and performance was good but those other issues were deal breakers. I bought a Pixel 9 release day and loved it. Found a NIB 9 Pro a few weeks later for a really good deal and It's by far the best Android phone I've used. Cameras, screen, performance (I'm not a gamer, not on my phone at least). Battery life is actually insane, I never worry about making it through a day. Build is fantastic. You can't go wrong with any of this years Pixel phones.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro, and it's been running smoothly so far. The only problem is that I broke the screen. I decided to buy the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I hate that decision. I dislike the iPhone so much, and I never realized how limited it is in functionality and how far behind it is in some features. Honestly, I don't use the 15PM much. I got my Pixel repaired and started comparing them both.
I found that it’s the smaller things that matter the most. I literally struggle with minor issues and sometimes get really frustrated, so I end up putting the iPhone aside.
I tested the cameras, and I honestly don’t understand how RUclipsrs rank iPhone stills at the top. The pictures of my baby in room lighting are always worse than those from my 3-year-old Pixel. They're not sharp, they're noisy, sometimes lacking detail, and the color tone is different from real life. I compared daylight photos, and they were about the same. Low light was better on the Pixel, while video was better on the iPhone.
The iPhone’s battery is good. I'm used to Android Auto, but I switched to Apple CarPlay. For some reason, I can't drag the maps or scroll through the music. Some people can, but I'm not sure what's going on. Android Auto works much better for me. I had so many issues with location accuracy-sometimes CarPlay would show me on a different road. It was a mess. I missed so many turns and had to wait in traffic for hours because of it. Siri doesn't work with other navigation apps, and no one uses Apple Maps outside of the US. I’ve switched back to Android Auto.
To be honest, I feel like I wasted my money and won't buy an iPhone again in the future.
P.S. Why on earth are the texts and UI so big on the 15PM? It’s a big screen, so they could fit much more!

I'm interested to know how many reviewers like you who rush to do a review come out with the quick scenario that the pixel is underpowered therefore it can't be a "flagship." What's influencing that opinion? Because clearly anyone using the Google pixel 9 pro and 9 pro XL are aware that as soon as they pulled it out of the box and got it going, that you can automatically see the Polish. You can't deny the Polish of the software and hardware. You can't deny the efficiency. It doesn't take a genius or even a geek to figure it out. So, my question is despite its lack of supposed power, how do you make that mistake as a reviewer where people are listening to you at the onset trying to make a buying decision? Why does your initial automatic opinion angle towards the negative and the device is not worth it? I don't just give you a pass for coming back and saying you made a mistake when you knew when you pulled that phone out of the box and started reviewing it that it was a "flagship" device. I'm just trying to understand how you missed it. Are you not as good at your job as what you think or did you have something else influencing your thought train?
Google Gemini live is not a gimmick does it get some information wrong sometimes? Yes, but try having a discussion with it about things you really don't know. And then back that up with some information and tell me if you think it really is giving you misinformation or not! The natural conversation is just mind-blowing and to be able to obtain it natively on a device can't really be compared against. There's no other phone doing that. There are no other Voice assistants with that capability. And, It's trickled in everywhere. Do you want a quick recipe for something without looking on the internet? Go to the messages app and call up Gemini and ask for your recipe and it gives you everything step by step and it doesn't just give you a run-of-the-mill recipe. It actually gives you a really good suggestion. It pulls from some of the best. You can print that recipe out and save it and that's just one thing. Do you want to talk religion and why religions have different origins? How deep do you want to go? Gemini can go deep to the point where you actually get an understanding and learn something! It will compare and contrast and in doing so correct its own mistakes If it finds that it made one or two! And, it's getting better as it does not seem to make the same mistakes twice!
I don't know. I just don't get the snap opinions when a device comes out and then people are reading and listening and basing their buying decisions on your commentary and then you guys return a month later and say you made a mistake. I don't accept it. I think it's intentional. I think you know these things the minute you pull the phone out of the box and start reviewing it, but for some reason you can't give it what it deserves up front and I don't know what that reason is!
If my livelihood depended on my posts on RUclips and rushing to the topic is the motivation for creating material on that topic and it would somehow could affect my integrity as a reviewer, then I wouldn't review it. My integrity is what's most important. I'm not going to get up there and say something just because I'm rushing to be first and allow what comes out of my mouth to be trash that I have to apologize for a month later! Excuse me for being so harsh but we don't get to see thumbs down ratings on videos anymore so there are people who are making these videos and have been making them for years who continuously give garbage information and we continually waste our time listening.

I also have no Trust that tensor will last as long performance wise as the update schedule based on previous Pixel phones. There's also the possibility that all the half- baked AI features will go subscription. The smart move is to wait til next year when the new soc debuts and see if that makes Pixel 10 a legit flagship.

Ok I'll play devil's advocate because there needs to be more critical reviews of the 9 pro xl. Goog prob expected to have tsmc and A15 done at p9 launch. We have a lackluster rushed A15, and tsmc is next year.
A blind test for photos between the 8 pro and 9 pro are indistinguishable except for skin tones and zoomed in telephoto shots. The screens on the 8 pro and 9 xl look virtually the same. The phones for everyday tasks feel exactly the same. They've pushed ai really hard with the 9 series, but it's not useful enough yet. The pixel line keeps jumping up in price. We're paying for ai marketing fluff and next year's tsmc prices this year. And I have a pixel 9 xl.

The 9 pro surely is the most compelling of the pixel bunch, but I am still quite pissed that Google demands something way above 1000€ for a phone with such lousy specs. This 27W charging speed would be so much more forgivable if the price was not this ridiculous.

Just don't pay it, it is Google adware anyways...
