- Two brothers, once upon a time they fighted side by side, now they are at each others throat. Optimus Prime, earlier on as Orion Pax and Megatron, former Megatronus.
In The season 2 of War For Cybertron, Earthrise we get to see a closer look on the friendship between Optimus and Megatron. Megatron wants to steal the allspark and the matrix of leadership to save cybertron and build a new army.
Optimus Prime wants to restore the population of cybertron and treat everyone as equal. In this season you will see a darker side of megatron than usual. Things will happen, but can they stop it together?

The brotherhood between Megatron and Optimus is truly unique and sad at the same time, in one moment they would die for eachother and in the other they are going against eachother, but in real they wouldn't kill the other, in side them they know that they are still brothers, the war changed them, everything changed but there is still hope for redemption for both of them.
that is until "one shall stand and one shall fall" comes to pass as it always does
@@kalagoddess3843 True, but "fall" could mean a multitude of things. Just to play devils advocate here, "Fall" could mean defeat, taking one leader out of power and locking them up. It could mean to kill, that one will live and the other will die. Deep down I know Prime doesn't want to Kill Megatron, he has too much of a history with him and if some storylines are to be believed they are brothers who would die for one another. Megatron, too, doesn't really want to kill Prime. he's had many opportunities to do so and yet he let Prime live. Megatron even stopped Starscream on several occasions from ending Optimus, whether he wanted to save Prime for himself or because he wanted his brother to live.
Deep down they both really care for one another, as equals, as brothers. They both are fighting for the same thing, even if the war changed them and changed their beliefs a bit. They want a unified Cybertron, an equal and just society for all. Ratchet in TF Prime says that Megatron went to the high council to propose his vision for a just society and "a need to overthrow the old guard" by force if necessary. Optimus didn't believe in violence as a means to an end, and the council listened to Optimus. In the comics Megatron wanted a better society and felt the leaders were taking advantage of things because they didn't see the suffering they were causing to the lower classes like the miners (of which Megatron was one). He didn't want war, he just wanted things to be better for all. Things got a little lost in translation with the war taking off.
Optimus does give Megatron many chances for redemption, and a few times Megatron takes it, ending the war. The bond those two have runs deep, and even after so many centuries of fighting, they do still care for each other.

Megatron was the revolution they wanted but not the leader they needed while Optimus was the leader they needed but not the peace they wanted.

Because he is. He's the despot who knows he's a despot because he failed, but so did his brother Optimus Prime. Partially he blames him, but like Optimus, he definitely blames himself. And he sees that in him, they're reflections of Cybertron's failures as a civilization which is so depressingly ironic as they both once tried to be it's brightest hopes.
Optimus and Megatron we're once brothers until the war began.
No matter how mean megaton is to optimus, optimus will always treat megatron like a brother.
Yes, optimus may fight megatron some times, but he does not want to battle megatron with a urgent to kill him. Optimus is the kindhearted hero every one needs even villains.

He believes that every living being has the right to redemption. The right I didn't receive when I answered the history question wrong today.
Except in most incarnations Optimus eventually comes to the realisation that Megatron and the Decepticons will never change and declares them kill on sight.

It’s sad that a simple decision by the Council destroyed Megatron and Optimus bond and left their home world a barren wasteland. This series captured the war perfectly and everything that goes with war.

I always saw them as the Magneto and Professor Xavier of Transformers two close friends who disagree with each other methods and are continuously fighting in constant wars with each other while, secretly holding strong side of respect for each other. I mean they both have the same personality traits and iconic moments as the central figures of X-Men. No to Mention Megatron’s name is an anagram on Magneto’s name if you don’t mind the R.😅

This was an Incredible Masterpiece for The Transformers War For Cybertron Trilogy Version’s of Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) and D-16 (Megatron) Relationship. Jake Tillman and Josh Marnocha Both did Magnificent Performances as Optimus Prime and Megatron. To Me Both of Them pay tribute to The Generation One Transformers Version’s of Optimus Prime and Megatron Voiced By Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. I can’t wait to see wait Transformers War For Cybertron: Kingdom.
