Way back in “the day” (at the release of Levon, Daniel, etc) when EJ broke onto the scene he was immediately one of my favorites. Fast forward to 1986 when I had the pleasure of seeing him during his “Candle In the Wind” concert in Sydney (Australia) where he put on one of the best performances I’ve ever witnessed....and fast forward again, this time some 35 years later, and I was able to attend his show this past weekend I'm ...delighted to see he’s still got it. Whether it be straight-out rock, semi-disco (Don’t Go Breaking My Heart -Kiki Dee), the 200th anniversary of the Fourth of July (Philadelphia Freedom), or show ballads such as The Lion King, Elton has had a remarkable and memorable career. I’m truly delighted that the newest generation(s) have been given the opportunity to appreciate his showmanship and song writing/performances! Keep the hits coming dude.

They didn’t do a song together. It’s a computer generated remix of four Elton John songs with Dua Lipa singing a reworking of the chorus from Rocketman. And the only reason it even exists is because someone was very bored while being locked up with Covid lockdowns. Lockdowns that I’ve done far more damage than they were ever supposed to prevent and never should’ve happened. But there have been a few silver linings this being one of them and parents finding out what their kids are being taught at school is another. And of course millions of people finally waking up to what liars and corrupt authoritarian our politicians are.

You are a perfect example of what’s wrong with the world today. You took offense that someone corrected someone else. Facts matter. Science matters. Reality matters. The world is not a social construct. There is objective truth. There is reality. You can’t have a functioning world where everyone can be or think whatever they want and wake up every day wanting to be or think or do something else. There are these things called the law of physics. There was this thing called the renaissance and the enlightenment. The only reason certain people are lucky enough to live in a part of the world where such things as being someone different every day is even imaginable is because of what Europe and America have done but unfortunately we have made it so soft so easy that people can go through life without ever having to actually do a hard days work or learn real morals and values or understand the value of a dollar. And unfortunately these people get their feelings hurt if you simply look at them the wrong way. The tone of your voice not being the way they like it triggers them. That’s not reality. And it’s certainly not the real world outside of the borders of America and Europe. And truth and reality matter.

If I misread your post I apologize. But what I was responding to was you saying it doesn’t matter. Well, yes, it actually does matter. Truth matters. Being correct matters. We live in a world today where people want to define things anyway they desire. That’s bullshit. Truth objective truth reality getting things right etc. matters. And the reason it matters in this case is Elton John was not involved. They told him they were doing it but otherwise he was not involved. The artist that mixed it went to Dua Lipa and got her to do the revised Rocketman lyric. So this was not actually a duet between Elton John and Dua Lipa. It was a DJ or a producer doing a remix and bringing Dua Lipa in for one particular lyric. That matters. Because he’s the one that should be getting the credit not Elton John. Of course Elton John deserves credit for all the great music that he wrote but in this instance he really wasn’t involved. Most people don’t even realize Elton John doesn’t write the lyrics to his songs. He only writes the music. His longtime collaborative partner Bernie Taupin is the one that writes the lyrics. So if I got your attitude wrong I apologize, but I think it’s dangerous to say it doesn’t matter. That’s a slippery slope. Especially today when RUclips videos get demonetized and blocked because of things like copyright infringement. These things matter. And the reason you can’t run around fighting words the way you want it because that defeats the purpose of a common language which is how people communicate. And of course the stupidity of trying to find something that has been clearly defined for a very long time or that is objectively true and real. All of this subjective truth lived experience BS that has suddenly become popular Ashley comes from communist to propaganda dating back to the 1960s. Communist I’ve been trying to overthrow government globally and they want to throw out things like the nuclear family because they want people dependent on the government. That’s why the left uses identity politics divides people gets them fighting making it easier to brainwash and manipulate people. This is all far left progressive politics. And it’s all founded and communism Marxism and totalitarianism. And one of the first things they try to do is get people to think there is no objective truth and that you can define things anyway you want. Truth doesn’t matter only your lives experience. And actually that has a foundation that goes back even further but that’s the primary place that this comes from and it slowly started infecting American colleges and universities in the 70s and 80s. The reason it has exploded over the last 10 years or so is because of Obama being in office and progressives using that to go all and what their agenda and social media and smart phones. As well as some other things that have evolved since the late 70s early 80s. If you want to truly understand it and see how sinister it is and how dangerous it is especially for young girls and women go read a book called the coddling of the American mind. It was written by Jonathan Haidt. You can see videos of him talking about it on RUclips. This is extremely dangerous which is why I always pointed out when I see it because there is a slippery slope that leads to very bad and dangerous things which is why we have the culture we’re currently dealing with.
The song is awesome. Their voices go so well together. This video I could do without seeing again. It's a bit too freaky for me. But I know today's artists go for the weird stuff. I'll stick to listening to this song and not watching it. I'll show my age here by saying I miss when MTV first came out and the videos were about the music.
