These make my day man. Keep up your hard work, it's very much appreciated. Hello from Idaho!
Love your special take on the advert. Very creative
"BLACK ARTS" Read the bible that god is truly the most evil and vile thing fictional character ever!
Earth is flat.
Earth is flat.
From Knight to Sorcer to Monk to Mercenary. The guy formed his whole own DnD party.
I would argue he was simply the class of a rogue
This guy's life could be the basis of a TV show.
Medieval Catch Me If You Can!
How long until the viewers had it enough of the annoying character of Eustace and stop watching the show? The writers will have to make him look like a hero of some kind by making things up. I don't think any producer is going to bet on it.
@@amitmeena2961 It could be a sitcom with a laugh track
@@AxionSmurf 🤣
I’d love a smart comedy about medieval European monks but all American comedy writers know how to do with historical subject matter is give the characters anachronistic dialogue so they all sound like touchy LA dweebs
People today, I dont think, realize that becoming a monk in these times was a privilege. It was a sparse monastic life, but they were educated, fed and housed. This was, at that time, when these "luxuries" were sparse. But it was better that than being a serf. Life was tough back then. Many monks didn't give a shit about their religion, they wanted a better life and move to up the ladder so to speak. Just look at some of the popes that were horrible People. They wanted power and wealth.
What has always flipped my wig back is how those arcane studies such as necromancy could survive in the face of being completely incapable of producing anything.
Religion too
@@joesickler5888 I agree but I would have to say that religion is a bit easier because it never really has to produce anything. There are some supposed miracles and such that some offer up as "proof" but they all fall back to faith, in the end.
Is it? I'd tell you to give the occult a try because I know you'd turn pale and never touch it again, but I know how evil it is and that you're not supposed to. Unless you've dabbled in it, you simply don't know. There are definitely *things* beyond the veil that kept people practicing this stuff.
@@jamesc.e.s.4551 I'm on the edge of my seat.
@@MagnificoGiganticus lol, no you're not. You'll never find out.

Farting seems to be a reoccurring theme during the middle ages
I second that with a fart
( Y )💨
"I fart in your general direction!"
I would love to see a video about the knights who traveled to tournaments around Europe. Begger knights and vagabond knights
What a great story. Never before have I heard about the farter monk who became a legendary pirate and admiral.
Perhaps the best way to achieve fame and fortune in medieval Europe would be to simply retreat to a hermitage and invest the necessary time to master the skills required to fart on command, and eventually to do so musically.
Ahh... how much more I would have listened and learned in high school if history had been taught by this guy😁
He’s a disingenuous Jew who shills that the period was horrible instead of the Golden age it actually was
@D C Except school has to teach the larger historical narrative, not the interesting, but not very relevant "fun facts". They also have to teach from prehistory to the modern day.
Yeah well no. Tu you see it's more important to know the difference between lava and magma
History teachers would love to teach you all this but they have to follow a curriculum
Every history teacher in grade school was boring as the day is long. Now, I'm consumed by it 24/7.
How did parading his head prove he was dead, because people did not know what he looked like as no photographs or TV, social media etc. So it could've been any head they had lying around, not necessarily Eustace's?
Robin Hood
The myth: dashing young bowmen with a merry band of men who gave charity to the poor
The reality: creepy weirdo who farted on people and stole their things
😂😂😂
Very nice, but NordVPN does not protect from computer viruses. In fact using any VPN won't protect you from viruses whatsoever

I always love finding channels that talk about Greco-Roman/Medieval topics. Good shit my guy

Blimey, another one of these super achievers! All I managed to do today was have my cornflakes, do a bit of shopping, and watch some videos. This guy packed an entire lifetime into just one day!
I think you might want to change the name of the series to "The life of...." 😜
Brian?
very cool! could you possibly do a day in the life of a merchant in medieval times
Wouldn't that just be a visit to Israel?
@@stevencooper4422 Oy vey!!🤣🤣🤣
When your cleric won't stop respecing.
So necromancy and joining the clergy in the medieval ages is not actually that contradictory, in fact most necromancers were actually clerics! This is because most necromancy and demon summoning at the time called upon the power of god, Jesus, the angels, and the saints to bind and compel a demon to do your bidding rather than actually making a pact with these beings. So this allowed the magical practitioner to still rationalize this activity with leading a good christian life (or not in this case).
Sounds like a Neflix Original. Thanks for this- I never heard of the guy before.
When he was explaining the daily life of a monk I couldn't help to think of that one mission from KCD where Henry had to live a temporary life as a monk
That was the best sponsor promo I've ever heard.
Awesome story .. he was no worse than any of the rulers of the day .. and no worse than many who came after him ..
MM: 'The modern day has its own viruses'
Me: Yeah, the coronavirus
MM: 'Computer viruses'
Me: Oh...
Thank you James and Lisa. Have a great week.
I came into this episode not having a clue what to expect...what a story lol
The madness of Medieval times were fascinatingly intriguing!!
Creative ad as well!
Cheers!
I'm mostly not very charmed of surreptitious advertising. When it begins, I always feel scammed. In return, most of the times I end up unsubbing the channel or not subbing at all. Because I'm highly allergic to advertisements. Especially when you can't seem to get rid of it without paying for it. Like a constant blackmail. Then you try another video, and another and another, but no, you can't start any video without having to watch yet another advertisement for something that you'll never use. Advertisement is ALWAYS meant to cheat your money. Advertisement is always a scam.
This guy went to heaven because the devil was scared he'd take over.
Love all your uploads! Look forward to then on my Fridays, keep up the good work x
That Monks breakfast looked nearly as good as mine, fair play.
Can you talk about the Jesuit Catholic priests who went to southern Canada in the early 1600s and became war-chiefs of Native-Americans and led them to war? It happened at least 3 times.
Thats not medieval anymore
@@aka99 Which begs the question of when it's time for sister channels to emerge, covering other eras of history.
@@Strash1892 correct
I first heard of Eustace the Monk years ago in High School. I played I.C.E's Middle Earth Role Playing game, and they had a Suppliment Book for the game called Robin Hood. It was based in England during the times of Robin Hood. Eustace the Monk was given as a historical example of a type of Outlaw.
Strangely enough I was just looking through that supplement this evening!
This was absolutely nuts! Tremendous work, as always.
i must say that was the best sponsorship ad i’ve ever seen
I love how every medeival story involves someone finding farts funny.
3:38 thought that egg was a frog at first.
How in the world did they function without any sleep?! Why did they awake at midnight to pray??! Why were they not allowed to get adequate sleep??!
Control.
the whole concept of getting 7 or 8 hours of sleep in a row didn't start until the industrial age. Prior to that it was common to get a few hours of sleep then wake up and do stuff then go get some more sleep like he mentioned in the video.
Monks dedicated their lives to prayer. Scripture advises to pray always. They took this literally.
The sleep was (barely) adequate and most people awakened around one a.m. for childcare or sex or minor chores and then returned to bed and slept until dawn.
Was this the same monk that joined Prince Edmund's conspiracy to seize the English throne?
Seems he had a special interpretation of being a servant of God. Great video!
No talking during breakfast is an excellent idea.
Lmfao @ this whole video. Especially the farting on the horny knight. Like omg 😂
4 Pitch Perfects, 100 Fast and Furious's, 50,000,000 James Bonds.... Where's my 3-part epic about this fool???
Somehow, I get the impression that this guy would get bored easily :)
Almost that time for some Halloween episodes!!
Nord VPN helped us a lot with our last peasant revolt.
Man, when is the last time a peasant revolt worked? 1917 Russia?

💛💁🏼♀️ The Nord VPN ad was pretty funny today... I love this history channel it always has the funny too! 💁🏼♀️💛
Love this channel.
Monks just want to have fun
First time to the channel as far as I know, and I catch a new video!
Hello Katy
Occultism is real, and it is as dark as it gets. His brief entrance into monastic life is probably about spiritual sanctuary til he feels the darkness has subsided.
Nice sound and music
Good research
Oh my God haha...this mad lad...the OG internet troll my god this man is a national hero
Wild story. Thank you.
A monks life Hasn’t changed much
This channel is quickly becoming my new favorite on the platform. The content is SOOooOooOo good and your narration voice is stellar!
I appreciate each one I've heard. Im a serious medieval/history buff and I've already seen most every video on the subject on the whole of RUclips. Thanks for your unique topics and your A+ delivery! Very much. 👌🤍
Wish you were my history teacher when I went to school... I might have retained some of it... enjoyed this, thx
awesome story 👏👏
Another Friday!
Makes sense he was called a demon for farting in cloister. Everybody knows demons smell like rotten eggs. Lol.
Thank you!
Why did they shave the top of there heads
This is how I play RPGs. Get bored of one class and start another
Love medieval history would love to travel back in time but well aware I would probably die very quickly!
One of the founding fathers of trolling
A Day in the Life of Medieval Europe is an awesome series, so interesting! MORE 😍
I second that 👍
Eustice does remind me of a song that had the lyrics "Did a fart and killed a lark and wounded a hen" this would be a better character than those awful Robin Hood films.
I’m concerned because the major difference between this tale and my 14-year-olds dungeon and dragons cleric was similar to this but he also kept bees, which saved him and sent him down a more holy path of brutality.
When you use the word " magic " in the context of this time it was indistinguishable from science. Esoteric knowledge about things like necromancy, alchemy, astrology weren't thought of in the same way as we view magic today. Christian mysticism was popular along with the Sufi in Islam and Kabbala in Judaism.
Amazazing
How did the monk know how to sail and take command of a bunch of ships all of a sudden
How could there be a school of the occult in those times? Wouldnt they be burned at the stake?
Toledo, Spain
@@69Jackjones69 how did they allow it?
is that breakfast the same colonial breakfast from Robert Townsends channel? lol
Brother banks sends his regards
Pretty sure the character of the monk in Blackadder was inspired by Eustace.
A game based on him would be interesting
Could you do a episode on Wilkin Of Weald.
“You have shown me monkey, monkey.”- Master Oogway.
Farted in cloisters 😅
I'd be stuffed 💨
This dude's story (especially the part where he's a lone guerrilla fighter in medieval times) really makes me wonder if there was any merit to the "occult" skills that he learned 0_0
There was, he used the magick to develop strategies for battle and he might have done rituals before battle.
@@shinrapresident7010 Magick is in all things. A lot of the scientists and engineers on the Apollo programme were Freemasons, occultists and were magick practitioners. Jack Parsons was a Thelemite who developed rocket propellants. He did the Babalon ritual in the California desert. I’m interested in paganism, where magick is a fundamental element of it. Magick is just doing things in accordance with your will.
That coister or however that's spelt looks exactly like the one in Kingdom come dilverence lol
So here it comes I guess, it took a while but it finally won in the end. No force strong enough to resist an ad inclusion.
A very interesting character 😉. I like him 😍🥰😅🤣
Eustace is a menace
Some of those monks had really dirty habits you know.
It was useless to get Eustace to behave… 😂
He doesn't seem so bad, we could have been friends.
how have i not ever heard of this black monk guy befofe
Seems like he was a nice guy overall. 😉
Man, this guy multiclassed all over the place.
💙💙💙
Interesting story. Your pictures of ships look like Spanish galleons of the renaissance. Not medieval sailing ships.
Nord VPN doesn't work on the moon base.
Long promotion at the beginning
It's pronounced boos-KAY. Someone call Hyacinth
Some monks just want to see the world burn. Alfred.
Early asbo?
So the sorcery and necromancy was a real thing back then! Throwing magic fireballs and reanimating skeletons as personal servants 😄
Just be sure you don't have an IPv6. NordVPN doesn't support it. I should have checked.
