It made me so happy when Emily almost started crying on stage. It’s so comforting to know how much the cast loves and believes in One Piece. Even if it’s not what we expect, and no matter how good or bad the CGI is, I have a feeling this show is gonna be something special.

With how "Looney" Luffy has always been and the revelations at the end of Wano. I see a potentially good approach, thematically, by using "bad, corny" CGI for Luffy in the live action. At least, I think Luffy's CGI doesn't need to be perfect to work.

It looks pretty good. The sets, the cast, the CGI, and the small details show the creators' passion. Of course, not every adaptation of a manga or a book will be perfect, but they captured the essence of the One Piece world. I am still a little nervous, but I look forward to August 31st.

I think one piece fans really don’t realize how goofy the series really is, yeah there are tons of awesome serious moments. But you’ve got a character that can turn into a jacket and shit like that. Let’s not fool ourselves
I know nothing about One Piece, but even I can sense the amount of passion and care the cast and crew have for this, plus the original creator being so tied to it makes it already above many adaptations in the past. I can tell no one working on this wants to disappoint the fans and since OP is so big I think they realize how important this franchise is. The trailer itself look really fun and the boats and locations looked really cool so, I am very interested to watch it!

The role of Zoro in ONE PIECE played the role of Enishi in the Rurouni Kenshin movie. It is famous as the most successful live-action film of Japanese combat animation. The action was so amazing that it became the best work in Asia.
That's part of what gave me full faith in the cast (aside from Oda's approval obviously). I LOVED the Rurouni Kenshin movies, and he was a BEAST as Enishi. At absolutely WORST his fights will rock!
I have been obsessing over the Kenshin movies and been going on about how they are the top class sword-fighting movies for years it makes me very happy to see other people put respect on that movie franchises name

I feel like the CGI arm didn’t carry enough weight. Like, Luffy should be close to tripping over when his arm goes back, then he should need to pull his whole body forward to gain a enough strength to deliver the punch. That’s pretty much my only complaint. This thing has potential.
Luffy has been training his powers since he was a kid. He is used to it now.
@@soren5801 Perhaps, but to "sell" it as an attack we need to see more from the live action Luffy. The anime/manga have other tools to add to the punch to make up for not actually being live action.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. I started reading one piece just after my daughter was born 17 years ago and have been following it since and I am super hyped for the live action.
I liked what I saw personally from Buggy D. Clown, Luffy's gum gum powers and the Sea King looked 👌 plus the costume designer's did great and the humor mixed in with the crew interactions looked good

This looks incredible. Sure the CG might be a little weird but that's the best you were gonna get anyway. The set, cast, tone, and BUGGY look great!
Agree, it makes it more believable that everyone would think buggy is a fearsome pirate when he looks like that.
I do think some of the places made by “Wai kin” looks better however considering Netflix is using actual sets rather than pure cgi, they get a pass from me
@@luckywizard_ I think this Buggy has a good balance of goofy and intimidating that early Buggy had. Whatever anyone says though, they can't say there wasn't a lot of effort and passion.

about buggy, i like that his nose looks like it's his real nose. in impel down, that was basically all he had of his normal costume and the wardens would have taken that if it was fake. not something i ever thought about until now, but it's a cool small detail.
I had low expectatios for this. Now I'm absolute hyped, this looks fire!

my only nitpick is that the arm stretch doesnt looked like stretching at all (no tensions/rubbery-like), its more like his normal arm extending and became longer instead...
the way i'll fix it is to study the actual rubber band stretching and play around with the loss of volume and mass of the arms, and also explore with different poses, for example i would make the hand stretches with an open hand and then closing into fist before the snap to emphasis more on the force and made it looks more elastics and believable

@@zyuunii3479 think the speed/motion is very important in making it feel real. It needs to stretch out, slow down, hit it’s max (emphasis on tension), snap back and into forward punch (skipping the section where it crosses over his body/hiding it with the speed). Then focus on the impact and hit. It also helps to see the effects on Luffy (after the punch being thrown back a bit).
They put a kind of cartoonish filter on and i LOVE OT
Feels so powerful to hear Roger shout out his catch phrase. "LET'S GO!" even all these years later. I can't believe I first watched his live reaction to the manga chapter where Kaido was introduced, and after years of waiting we finally get to see the live action in just a few months. These past few years have been the most hype time to be a One Piece fan!
The different colored shirts and outfits the crew is wearing are nods to early volume covers (vol. 10 specifically) and colors spreads !!! 🤩

Honestly it doesn't look bad I'm cautiously optimistic about it due to Oda being extremely close with working on this. As well as the main writer showing up on y'all reverie meeting years back and it shows that he a true fan of this. I'm optimistic towards this now I want to see arlong and the fishmen.

I think the whole idea of the live action is to really capture the human emotions of the casts and the characters coming to life.
They of course don’t look the same only wearing the same outfits, that said it is Oda’s reinvention of One Piece but this time something realistic enough to convey his heartfelt story into life
They looks generic and hollywood lol, if anything their emotions have been reduced
The stretching effects worry me, but I’m here for this regardless.

Anyone else notice that Nami is with them at Morgan's marine base? Not that I necessarily have an issue with that, but might give us some ideas about how things are being combined/cut/rearranged.
I think mami was at the base getting a treasure map that buggy then stole from her
In the Anime Nami is there stealing the map of the grand line in the background but luffy isn't supposed to encounter her until they run into buggy
I suspect they're putting her in at Shell Town to speed things up, plus originally Luffy gets to Orange Town where he meets Nami by having a bird bite his head and fly him there. Might be more realistic if Nami meets Luffy earlier and recruits him to help steal Buggy's treasure and the map of the Grand Line. Would also explain how Luffy and Zoro were able to successfully take a small ship from one island to the next.
I’m happy Roger is excited, personally it just seems ok. Which obviously is better then “terrible.”

Roger is probably referencing the Den Den Mushi when talking about the creature he has seen that looks great and this excites me!
I'm really pumped to see this! Even if it wouldn't be as "epic", it could still be a lot of fun. The good thing about OnePiece is that it focuses more on comedy than most other shonen, so even if something looked silly/goofy, it could translate well in the OnePiece setting. (Unlike the Death Note Live adaptation, for example).
It could bei Epic in its own right. I believe it will be a good show for an Anime Adaptation

The clip of iñaki tearing up while watching the trailer and the rest of the EB five comforting him was so freaking cute too ugh I don’t even care if the cgi is a train wreck I’m so excited for this cast and crew
As a Japanese, I'm kinda wondering if the Japanese version will have the original cast to do the dub. I generally prefer watching American shows in subs and I’m loving the voice of the casts, but if the original cast is doing the dub, I might watch the Japanese version.

That might be the case. In Latin American Spanish, Iñaki is dubbing himself since he speaks Spanish, but Nami and Zoro are dubbed by their Spanish voice actors from the anime.

Honestly, what got me was the Sea King Animation. Like, that took me back to the days of me watching the Godzilla 2014 movie. Literally the best way a Sea Beast had been portrayed so far!
That Koby casting is great. I'm glad to see santoryu still exists too! The worst part for me is still the Going Merry looking like a Weeping Angel took care of it, or like you have to kill it with fire.
I went to your page because of ChocolateKieran's recommendation 😁 let's just say I am at the start of my journey of discovering the story of One Piece. I heard about One Piece a long time ago when I was a lot younger, it was in the late 90s. But back then I didn't read or watch the series. I know some of the main characters just because they were (and are..) worldly famous. And now, decades later, I ended up binge-watching the live-action series in one night. Loving it. And now I am going down the rabbit hole 😅 just ordered the manga from volumes 1 - 120 from the internet. And I think later, watching your videos will help me a lot in understanding the story 😁

This is so selling me on wanting to watch it now. In some ways while the CG almost looks a little weird, it still looks great. The dynamic between Luffy, Zoro and Nami feels like the original while still being it's own thing. And finally the cinematic remix of We Are that you can hear playing in the trailer, just hits me right in the feels. I was skeptical at first with the idea but after hearing about the amount of effort they were putting into the project and seeing this, I'm definitely seeing this. Give these guys a round of applause 👏👏👏👏👏

I think they made the arm CGI look "RUBBISH" for a Reason! Luffy is a Rubber Boy! A Gum Gum Fruit User and it fits even better than the anime could ever do it when all of his attacks look rubbery like actual rubber! If this is intentional it's so genius!

In my opinion the arm looks ok, If im gonna be honest, we're never gonna get stretching powers right in live action media. People will ALWAYS think it'll look off or weird because it's stretching powers and folks have always thought stretching powers were weird in the first place. Like I really wanted Marvel to get Ms. Marvel's comic stretching powers right, but they changed them for sparkly green lantern like powers, because they couldn't accomplish it! It was so maddening! XD
I'm just glad they kept his powers at all and at least tried their best and took one more step!

The stretching arm.. At first it looks like it needs more rendering, but hey! He's a freakin rubberman and if you think about it, it looks rubbery to me and also the way he shouts his iconic move is like the one's on the anime english dub if you guys ever watched it dub in english it is close enough

i have been following the actor's progress and updates on instagram as well as pretty much every bit of news regarding this pretty religiously, and from what i have seen i can say one thing: the people involved in making this want it to be good just as much as we do.
nothing live action can do will ever live up to the INSANITY that is the One Piece world of manga/anime, but the people who are making this story come to life are hugely dedicated to making sure its the best they can make it

I agree with you @rogersbase. The only thing I can honestly say that bugged me was the CGI on Luffy's arm and I'm not crazy about Nami's hair but everything else looks great. I am coming into this show with nothing but hope. Also, did anyone notice Garp's ship?
I feel like he has to be talking about the Fishmen looking great - which is awesome since they are such a huge part of the series. I was pleasantly surprised by this trailer!
Don't know if it can be checked but I'm pretty sure in the official RUclips tudum stream there were about 65k live viewers and after the one piece segment was over it dropped almost to half at 35k

I this looks amazing especially the world feels like what Oda made (like the Lord of the Coast) & it definitely feel that the actors really are like the One Piece characters
I wonder how much of the stuff Oda wanted to add in the manga that he either couldn't due to it breaking the flow or simply forgot is going to be in the Live Action like Mr. 7 vs Zoro or the moment he got his epithet unless it was already mentioned tbh haven't read the first 100 chapters in awhile

I'm excited but also nervous. I think going into it with realistic expectations and also an open mind to let the adaptation speak for itself are gonna be key for me. I'm so happy for the actors playing the Straw Hats, especially Emily Rudd. You could tell during the livestream that this means the world to her to play Nami. I cannot wait for Arlong Park. I was sold on One Piece there and that episode 37 will always hold a special place in my heart.

Honestly I think theres people who are just there to hate on any live action.. this is easily one of the best live actions ive seen and its only the trailer
Thanks Roger, for being so positive! Like a lot of people I have my doubts, but I love this story so sooooo much, that I have decided to be as supportive as possible to the people trying to bring this story to live (it doesn't have to be 100% true to the sources material, don't forget that this is an adaptation and a lot of things wouldn't translate good in live action). But trying to be positive is hard when so many people refuse to give it a chance, so I am thankful to everyone who is willing to give this a chance.

Honestly my only real problem is that the show feels like film Mexico, I always pictured the one piece world more blue than the yellowish hue that seems to be in most of the scenes
