For your next trip you should visit Leuven, close to BXL. Oldest university on the continent, hometown of Stella Artois, gorgeous medieval architecture, lots of restaurants, and the Old Market is considered the 'longest bar in Europe'; A square with 3 sides full of bars and the 4th is a high school. And you can do everything on foot. It's like a compressed version of Gent & Brussels combined. Fun times.'
What you say about Trappist beers is not true. There are still 4 Trappist breweries within the compounds of the abbeys in the South of Belgium (the Ardennes). It is true though that many of the Trappist brands have been taken over by major beer brewers. The brewing g still gets a blessing from the monks regularly. And by the way, this food vlog of culinary experiences in Brussels is probably the best I have seen. Usually, vloggers eat and drink all the tourist trap consumables. You even ate a normal Belgian Liege waffle! Normally vloggers go for those topped with anything (no Belgian eats that).
As a belgian i have some instructions on how we eat mussels. You take on mussel and eat it. Use that shell to pick other mussels out of the shell. That's how we usually eat mussels. Hope you enjoy my country!
wdym a pot to share? xD A normal serving for one person is 1 to 1.3kg mussels. Just check them for little crabs hiding in the mussels, they can make you very sick
Exactly, €38 (40$) is typical for places where a lot of tourists hang out. You better find a local that can bring you to a restaurant outside the tourist zones.
Lie. I paid 33 next GRD place and 23 in zinneke 30 minutes from there, and there the mussels are the best of Brussels. I m not sure u know your city very well
Yes I had both of those in my time in Belgium. See my videos in Ghent and also Bruges. I especially love the Grey shrimp croquettes, and the carbonnade fllemande is one of the best dishes I've ever had.
We were in Belgium for Tomorrowland and stayed a week to visit. I ate mussels every day. 😅 We tried to make them in Italy but they taste nothing like in Belgium. .
Oh nice! I know that festival is a great time. I hope to visit Belgium again soon. You're right, the muscles there are so fresh and unlike anywhere else I've had them.
Ty for just getting a normal waffle, that's what we eat.

She said 4 people? How?
@@BrazenNL as an appetizer perhaps! 😆
Most waffles in Belgium are only eaten by tourists ;-)
Correct. Check my other videos in Ghent and Bruges for more local dishes. :)
A bowl of mussels like that in California on the Pacific ocean will be 60 dollars. You pay about 40 dollars. (38 euros)
And in Zeeland, Netherlands where the mussels originate from you pay only 25 euros
