Please never stop what you’re doin man you don’t know how much you contribute to the Lofi community, just picked my og sp up last month been loving it like crazy
Much love man, means a lot hearing that! Thanks for the kind words 🙏
Tip number one kept me from using mine for at least two years. It sat next to all my gear doing nothing. Now it's my go to device when I want to have lots of fun making a beat thanks to your videos. Legend, mate.
Nice man. I had a patch where I hardly used mine too got frustrated with the lack of a decent workflow. I think spending time with the pattern sequencer has been a game changer for me. If I hadn’t done that I’m almost convinced I would have moved to ableton and just used the sp as an fx unit 😵
I've been looking at buying an SP 404 sx for a good long while, and I love your videos! Even without a physical unit, I still enjoy every time you upload!
That’s awesome man! Well if you ever did invest I’m sure you’d be making beats in no time! appreciate you watching 🙏
Great tips regarding the start of using an SP unit, I started with the 404SX moving from Maschine Mikro MK2, Was a learning curve and a half but defo changed the whole hardware game!
Agreed man yeah I struggled too. I had pretty much just gotten to grips with my MPC 2500 and then decided to invest in one - everything I learned was pretty much out the window haha. I really wish I would have stuck with pattern sequencer from the start though, by now I could be making fire beats with it!
this unit has changed my life and how I produce. Cant thank you enough for these tips.
Glad to hear man, and I'm happy to show you what I know :)
Just got a 2nd hand SP last week and that first tip was surprisingly inspiring. Turned it on and checked it worked, had a quick mess around and that's about all I've done with it cos don't much know how to use it and putting off diving in but I've the manual sitting there so I suppose no better way to get going
Yup the manual is a great resource and often overlooked...although I'm basically making myself redundant suggesting it haha
Dope tutorial as usual bro, and you are absolutely right! You have to have patience, but the cool thing with the SPs is the journey!🙏🏾✊🏾🔥
100% man! Have loved getting to know the SP in so much detail and feel like there is still more to go
I appreciate you man. These tips help a lot.
Nice one man Glad to hear it. Thanks for watching!
Love the videos! I dont even own an sp yet but they're still so entertaining! Great philosophy for creativity and beatmaking man!
Yo man that’s dope! Have had a few people say they watch and don’t own one. The support is much appreciated 🙏
Just got mine ! Perfect timing! Thank you good sir 🥳
Awesome, welcome to the gang! Glad you found my channel
Your channel really helps, those tips are fire thank you!
Glad to hear that. Thanks so much for watching 🙏
yo I'm starting with an 404og and, even it's not the same, I love your tips and your videaos, they're very inspiring to me. Ty bro
glad to hear that man and thanks for watching! Unfortunately I've never used an OG - would love to hear what the FX are like but never thought its worth investing after getting and SX. Hopefully one day I can flip a few records with one!
Word especially without a SD card the SX a winner
Just love your videos, really helpful and overall inspirational :)
Thanks a lot man, that means a lot! Glad to hear it
Thank you for your help
Thank you for this, spvidz. Very helpful.
No problem man, appreciate the comment!
Thanks this video was very helpful for me
thank you!!!!!!!!! cant wait to get it!
No problem! I'm sure you're going to love it! :)
Appreciate the surplus of videos lately! 👍
Nice one man! Thanks for watching 🙏
This was helpful I’ve been slumped with making beats on the sp I definitely want to mess with the pattern sequencer more tho. Great vid man👊🏾👊🏾
Nice man! Yeah it can be a little bit frustrating but if you keep patient and chilled whist using it eventually you can get results!
This channel is a treasure trove!!
Ayyy, thanks for tuning in!
Youre a beast! Thanks for the help!
haha cheers man, glad to help you out :)
awesome video. I'm a few days in with my SP and I love it. You should do a video making a beat with pattern sequencer. what are the pros and cons and how to utilize it.
Thanks a lot man, I've actually got that on the list for this week or next week! Cheers for all the watches recently 🙏
I agree
Just ordered a 404sx, I’ve been watching your vids trying to master the interfacing before I get it.
Nice man welcome to the gang. Hope that the videos help you!
5 months ago you said leave a comment. Happy to! Thanks man. 🍕🍻
Hell yeah man haha! Thanks for that, appreciate it
Dope Vid, Bruv
Thanks a lot man!
i'm new to the game, your vidz are really helpfull, big up from switzerland !
Glad to hear that! Welcome to the SP Gang :)
Much love from San Diego 🙏🏽 running my sx in logic with my Apollo twin x🤟🏽
Dope man. Always loved the look of the Apollo Twins! How does it sound?
It’s sounds incredible. I upgraded from the SSL+ because I also do vocals and recording. Not even close. Now I use logic to use the SP as a through for all my sampling. Making samples is a way more fun and enjoyable process💯
Been watching your vids though man! Gonna support I hope you still got some knobs left💪🏽
Awesome man was doing some reading around because I've always wondered why they are on the expensive side! Using the SP for fx in combo with a DAW is such a good combo!
@@spvidz hey bro sent an email about an order of some knobs about a month ago. It was my order lol
Just got mine a couple days ago. I've gotten sampling down. I'm just gonna keep digging in.
Nice one man! Welcome to the SP gang!
I found really interesting the point when you talked about the different approaches to the workflow , for exemple between Resample and Pattern.
I saw almost all your videos about resampling technics, your virtuosity with Thant and now I’m really curious about your pattern mood for creativity.
Some videos coming in that new direction ?
I will be doing some videos about it either this week or next week yes! I have hated it for a while but finally started to enjoy using it 👍
nice vid, man! you have a good voice.)
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for your insights. I'd also love to hear from you how you do source samples, what's the process behind it? Do you prefer to browse through old records for hours or do you rather go on RUclips and check samples from there? How do you decide which snippet from a song works for you?
Yo man thats a great question - I will do more videos around sampling philosophy very soon and where I dig etc!
Hey where did you get them black buttons....love the content!
Yo thanks man. Got hooked up by mpcstuff.com you can find them on there 👍
Tip #0: add all the stickers!!!!
but actually thank you for making these videos! I just got an sp and they’re really helpful
haha the stickers help with beat making I'm sure! No problem glad to found them useful
Does one really have an SP if it is devoid of stickers? 🤔
Thanks for sharing. Do you have a discord channel for discussion/ Q&A?
Possibly going to launch one in the new year. I do have a Reddit if you wanna search spvidz 👍
Good video - why did you go from the mpc to the 404? I miss the group choke feature!
Back just before I bought it I was researching the artists I was listening to in quite a lot of detail. I was trying to find information about what gear they used etc and the 404 kept getting mentioned - so yeah that was my main motivation. Think it was a Teebs interview that finally sold it for me
and yeah there are a lot of features I wish were on the sp. A decent timestretch would be the main one I think!
@@spvidz i hear you bro, but in some poeples eyes that timestretch effect fits the loop - check this out ruclips.net/video/f9UG1qlQZ_s/видео.html
Know what you mean man yeah. I've heard that Wun Two whos one of my favs uses the DJ FX looper to repitch a lot too. I am personally preferring doing it in ableton, MPC or po-33. Way better and you get some nice flavour through the hardware too!
can you share the links of the producers you shared who inspired you?
So handy!! Got my SP404A last week, very well timed, love your work man! You should start a discord if you haven't started one yet!
Appreciate it man! I’ve had a few people ask that but I have so little free time. Spend so much time keeping insta, Twitter etc and the channel moving. The idea of another platform really worries me 😂
@@spvidz hahahaah no dramas hey, totally fair, if you ever wanted to make one tho I'd be happy to moderate/do the admin work for you, I spend way too much time on discord anyway, but I totally understand man 😅
@@gabe1837 Cheers for that man - I have actually got it set up but obviously not invited anyone to it. I'll look into it early next year :)
@@spvidz Hell yeah man!!!
You already know why I’m here (;
Hope the tips are helping you out!
Is it possible to hook up SP404 with 2in2out Audio Interface. I saw some1 using Headphone Output to SP404 Line Inputs.
Love the vidz bro!! Ready to plug this fucker into my MPC ONE.. Thank you.
who are the artists you mentioned after wun two
Coryeyo and Flughand
Do I have to buy kits to add to the sp ? So I can start making beats ?
There is a stock memory card that comes with it but the sounds aren't great they are more just a demo. Its just a sampler so you will be starting with a blank canvas. You can sample drums from records or find one-shots online like in my packs or on services like splice etc.
Painful I just got mine today and it's nothing like the 202 or 303 it's very confusing & complicated it seems 😔
There is a bit more to this one yeah, I would say its not too different from the 303 - most knowledge of that is transferable. Sure you will get the hang of it with a bit of practice!
Do you recommend the 404sx or 404A?
Both the same
Like you say here I have to sit down and read the manual lol
Its a bit boring but it does actually help a lot unfortunately haha
Thanks for watching man and for being a member 🙏
my printed manual is in japanese :/
Had a few people say that to me! Guess it’s the online one for you then 😬
The first tip is literally "learn the machine"
Okay, it's standard practice to have hard cuts on your raw footage to form your production sample.
BUT WHY DOES YOUR ZOOM CHANGE SO MUCH????
