I own one of their trailers. It's built really well and the guys at Vorsheer are amazing to work with.
That is good to hear. There were many aspects of the trailer that I really liked and the craftsmanship is very good. I can only imagine that it is a fun trailer to own.
How much was that?
The mammoth overland is how I'm going. It's an awesome trailer. It's built like an airplane by an airplane manufacturer. It comes ready to camp from the factory. Oh and NO wood anywhere. It is by far the best teardrop I've found.
We have seen Mammoth. They are very nice.
Vorsheer has listened to people and are now building a non wood version.
I have never heard of this company. Thanks for educating us. I was going to comment that it reminds me of the moby1....then heard you say the Moby1 is the predecessor. I thought Moby1 went out of business? Mayne they were bought out?
I agree....the bottom needs protection. Exposed wood need some type of shield or 2nd layer cover.
Your daughter reminded me of my son when I brought them to overland expo....ugh dad is off filming lol.
Good video. 👍
Yes, the Moby 1 owner sold to the employees and they changed the name of the company.
That was a really long day for my daughter. Lol.
We have re-focused our channel to be family overlanding. We are not really doing walk arounds and reviews anymore. We are 13 weeks in and so far it is an improvement. Our "community" is growing.
It makes life much easier on the family. And we hope to go full-time overlanding this year.
We are having a trailer built and going to ambassador for them.
As you know, this youtube thing is a lot of work.
Hope you and your family are well. Can't wait to see your next adventure.
That is great! I’m with you about the wood...you could always rough up the wood under the trailer and put on a few coats of bedliner.
That is a great idea.
You could always paint the bottom with Rino ceal coatings, or use white rubber coating as well.
Very true.
Jeff!!! Thanks so much for doing this walk-around of the VORSHEER XOC (and the XER). We'll be linking your RUclips channel in our newsletter this week!
Awesome. Both trailers are great. We really like them. You guys have some skilled craftsman.
Thank you for the walk-around of this trailer. Good info here and discussion of the features. I'm not a fan of placing the heating unit right next to the refrigerator as it seems counter-productive. I hope to see Vorsheer at the Overland Expo in 2021 to get an even closer look.
Good point, I didn't catch that before.
Refrigerators really just "move" heat from inside the fridge to the outside using thermodynamic principles. The heat pulled from the inside is radiated off through a condenser which is right on the fridge. This element gets warm when in use, which is why in some country people use the back of their fridges to dry clothes. The insulated box keeps this heat out and makes it so your stuff stay cold. I doubt the heater would change anything if its nearby
THE WOOD ON THE BOTTOM BASE PLATE IS AN ABSOLUTE DEAL BREAKER FOR ME THANKS FOR POINTING THAT OUT! I HOPE THE MANUFACTURER PAYS ATTENTION TO THE COMMENTS MADE!🤔
They are now coming out with a non wood design as we speak. Seems like they listened to people like you.
Great, greetings from Indonesia
Thank you!
Very complete walk around.
Thank you
Nice design camper. I love it. The only thing that i am worried about is the wood underneath , too much water crossing means problem
Very true. We saw one this past weekend and my wife and I both commented that it is a great looking trailer.
I've not seen that trailer before. Maybe they will move to an all metal version in coming years. Seems like there is a demand for it.
Not sure. Looks like a demand for both wooden and aluminum trailers.
Good video but holy crap that's a loud road you're right next to
Lol, yup.
Thanks for showing this trailer. Looks like it would be pretty easy to add a skid plate to the water tank. Do you think the water tank can be insulated? Very complete walk around video.
Yes a skid plate would be easy. To insulate it would cost some ground clearance but probably not too much. You would still need to insulate the plumbing.
That old fire truck video-bombed you :-)
We did check it out too.
@@TsarTrail So now much do those trailers cost?
@@tobyrey2700 fully equipped is between 40-45k
@@TsarTrail With a plywood subfloor. For that money I can buy a Black Series C12 or HQ12.
I haven't seen either of those two Vorsheer trailse before. Thanks for showing them. Nice walk around even in the wind and road noise. maybe Vorsheer should have moved the trailer to a better location to show off their trailer. Just a thought. nice video.
Thanks. Vorsheer sent us to Hinkley Overland. Yes, a quiet place would have been much better.
Thanks for the walk around...been looking at teardrops (square drops) for awhile. I put my order in with overkill trailers, the TK47. Half the price, no wood. Keep up the great info. Any teardrop you can walk around, post it! I think there is a high demand for these trailers.
Cheers!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy that trailer. We are not familiar with it.
We did show Colorado Tear Drops and TC Tear Drops on our Overland Expo Trailers video.
nice trailer!
Sure is. Good hearing from you Logan. Hope you and family are well.
@@TsarTrail Thanks, hope you guys are doing well too!
Love the wood, take care of and will outlast you.
It is very nice to look at. If you can keep it dry it should last a long time.
Has n e one seen the pricing???...OMMFG!!! It’s the same price as my F N jeep. I was torn between the off grid expedition n the terra drop alpha by Oregon trail’r with this trailer I get the best of both in one but the price makes me feel like I’m buying both trailers.
I can feel the electricity surge through my body as the nurse yells...”CLEEEAAAR!!!!” Lol
I’m still gonna buy it😂🤣😂🤣😂😓
It’s a super nice trailer.
Was that exposed wood under the trailer? Looked like the floor of the trailer was plywood.
Yes exposed wood. Vorsheer reached out to us today to explain that the wood is resin treated that makes it water proof. I don't understand that technology. They did mention that they are updating their website to include more info on the trailers.
@@TsarTrail I dont care what they say, exposed wood over time is going to rot. For such a nice trailer, that is a fatal flaw.
@@jeepers29SK it is definitely a concern for how we would use the trailer.
I really wanted to see this but the audio was unbearable
@@TJackSurvival yes, the wind and road noise was horrible. I had hoped they would have set us up in the shop.
That first box you opened, while nice, that rubber foam or whatever it was, looks like someone was in a hurry to go home and just slapped it on hastily. Little details like that worry me with this type of product.
Good point. The seams didn’t always match up perfectly.
Noticed that too! Significant gaps. That where dust comes in.
Very nice. Do you think you’re gonna move to a sleep in (teardrop) style or more basic (TuffStuff/Smittybilt) style trailer?
We are looking at a sleep in. With an RTT for Bayly. For long term overlanding it will give us a lot of capability and versatility
@@TsarTrail I just realize I’ve been spelling Bayly wrong. That’s a good plan though.
I have a friend who had the Moby1. It was a beautiful trailer but he had nothing but problems from leaking to suspension and major condensation issues. Vorsheer did not stand behind there work so he ended up having to sell it dirt cheep and take a major loss just to move on with his life! I thought these guys went out of business but I guess not! From what I've heard Very bad customer support! They are cool looking though!
That is unfortunate for sure. The way I understand it is that the days of Moby were under the original owners management. They are now employee owned. I hope they have solved all of those problems.
I like the video. Will you make another video and use a microphone talk into and not next to the loud road, please. That will be ice for us viewers.
We probably won't do another video on their trailers unless they change them significantly. Sorry about the sound. They should have set me up in the showroor like they did on their XER trailer video.
We did the best that we could due considering the wind and road.
Thanks for the input. We can try to answer any questions you might have if they are not too technical. Or if course you can contact Vorsheer or Hinkley Overland.
great trailer
i think the wood is definitely an issue. just my thought
Yup. Just not sure how it would hold up over time.
Yep when folks say it’s an off-road extreme trailer... need to define that , wood and extreme wet muddy terrain don’t go well, sealing is another issue, let alone frame build and how it holds up
Cool idea but they need to ditch the wood and go all metal or these things will never last in wet or humid climates.
That is our thought as well. Beyond the wood it is a very good trailer.
@@TsarTrail Agree. I'm looking for something similar to get shipped to the UK but unfortunately I'm finding it very hard to get any of the decent manufacturers to even respond to my enquiry, let alone actually find one willing to ship their product here, even when I tell them I understand there will be no support or warrantee. I'd contact these people too if it wasn't for the wood but it's just too wet and muddy here most of the time for a wood camper to be a consideration.
@@MonstaMunch101 that adds a huge degree of difficulty. Hope you can get that sorted out.
what is the tongue weight and weight with propane and battery lithium?
No idea. Best to contact Vorsheer for technical support
It's a trailer, couldn't you have just moved it away from the road and wind before filming? 🤷♂️
Not our trailer. Not our store. Not our decision.
Exposed wood is just lame on an otherwise nice trailer.
Definitely a concern
Look, the trailer could be great.... filming this next to a busy highway?.... personally, I want to see this in the element it was intended for. Again so far I’m interested in the product but if you really sharing info to increase sales... man, try harder. If you’re an honest customer that bought this before you ever took it out, don’t.
Not trying to sell anything. Vorsheer asked that we come to Salt Lake and take a look at their trailers and shot an honest walk around video. Their dealer Hinkley Overland set up up right be the road for that trailer. The other Vorsheer trailer walk around was shot in their showroom. Completely out of our control. Thanks for watching.
@@TsarTrail thanks for posting
I’m actually looking to buy a off road teardrop trailer. This is something I’d really consider getting. It has a great design. A few drawbacks that are deal breakers with this is the wood and not having a skid plate underneath. If they were to correct those issues it would be something I’d seriously consider. Hopefully they get the message and correct these issues
They are building a non wood version. Not sure if it has been released yet. Apparently they are listening. 👍
@@TsarTrail so far of all the trailers I have seen I’m leaning towards the off grid explorer or pando however I’m also considering the hive Ex. I did have the overkill SO510 on my list but they quoted me somewhere about 70k! I love their slide out but 70k is waaaay overpriced in my opinion. 70k would get me a black series HQ 15 or HQ 19. SMH at Overkill. You have any other suggestions? I’m looking for off road, shower, hot water, heat and ac, kitchen, refrigerator, room on the roof for kayaks and or storage, bike rack option, solar panels, and at least a 30 gallon water tank
@@NameRankAndSerialNumber
We looked very seriously at the Hive EX. It is great trailer. Ground clearance and exposed water tank and plumbing were mild concerns. They do have a thin skid plate on the tank. The off grid trailer is very good too. We just feature them in our most recent video shot at Overland Expo West.
We eventually ordered a turtleback expedition. It is not a sleep in trailer but it does everything else really well. We figured out the sleeping areas pretty easily.
Hope you find something that works for you.
