Costa Rican here...If you schedule a trip to the Central Pacific (Dominical, Manuel Antonio, Jacó) avoid driving on Sunday evenings... especially if you plan to drive the Central Valley back to your Hotel or the Airport...the traffic jams are a nightmare...a 1 hour trip becomes a 3 to 6 hour painful and slow torture. Leave early, wait until Monday or schedule the trip for week days...the main reason is that locals like to spend the weekends here and they add up to the tourist crowd.

yes. It took us 5 hours from Manuel Antonio to San Jose. Thankfully, or plane was leaving the next day so it wasn't too bad but we would have missed our flight if it was the same day.

The entrance fees to the parks is so affordable and so beautiful. We took our family to Disney world and the entrance fee per person was $144.00, and spent almost all day waiting on long lines just to get on a ride.
I arrived last night but I still prefer Silver Falls State Park in Oregon USA. 9 waterfalls and if you go in August the snow melt will come down from Mt. Hood. It’s a 5.7 mile loop or simply 1 to 1.5 miles if you only want to see the 125ft waterfall and you can walk around the back side. Very cool and nicer people due to the hiking/long walking community.
11:07 I didn’t see the 4x4 trip there. Just lots of very expensive other tours. Like 100+ each. We LOVED uvita/dominicalito tho and did plenty to make us love it
next time you guys visit i have some really special tours to take you on that nobody else offers!! native secrets and special cacao and sugar cane farms, think willy wonka in the jungle! but multiples!!! little known waterfalls and hidden enchanted caves

I went to Manuel Antonio Park and booked online. They twice attempted to use my Credit card number in the next few months and i eventually had to replace the card to stop the attempts a fraud. Be aware, not sure how you can do tickets on own w/o using their website but i wouldn’t use it again.

We used the car rental place - economy rent a car and didn’t pay a dollar more than what was expected. Couldn’t say enough good things about them. I got the daily insurance fee before hand tho , but it was clear that you needed it. To me at least lol

When we visit Yosemite, or Yellowstone , or any natural parks in the US. There is a fee to get in….. right? the fact that Costa Rica has tons of natural beauty and maintains its ecosystem, is something to be commended and protected. The ten dollars you pay to see our natural beauty helps maintain that. That’s ten dollars better spent than on a Starbucks coffee.
Just spent the past month there; I cheated ($$-wise) by staying with family most of the time, but there are affordable ways to stay there in terms of food, lodging, and activities. Stay someplace where you can just hike and enjoy the surroundings for some of the time and the trip can be affordable. No need to pack your trip with lots of expensive things to do. Splurge on some things you really want to do. Ask locals where to go and not be overrun by tourists. Tourist areas cost the most, but you can lodge nearby, eat local (delicious!) food, and still get the benefits of fun activities and, for you young folks, nightlife. (Check out the beautiful Atlantic coast with plenty of bilingual Afro-Caribbean descendants.) Make sure, if you don't speak any Spanish, to learn just a few phrases for certain areas where there are few Spanish speakers. Folks meet you halfway if you try. And don't be arrogant! I saw some ARROGANT westerners who wanted to do things their way. Don't be one of them. You are a GUEST.

Where the most visited national park in CR,you WON'T for sure find the most wildlife,so if you're a wildlife lover don't ever travel where there are thousands of people, instead travel where there no people,in this case,Osa Peninsula,even out of the Corcovado National Park,you would find plenty wildlife....

def rent a 4x4 vehicle or at least a vehicle. I've been 3 times and have seen 80 percent of the country. It's not very pricy and easy to drive.
