I'm having trouble with this one theory. I always believed that while WEAPON was waking up, Sephiroth was still recovering in the Crater. The manifestations of Sephiroth we saw up to that point, as far as I knew, were failed experiments that had SO MUCH of Genova in them, that he was able to control the genes and change their shape (much like he does with Kadaj in Advent Children). All this to say, I believe 1st class SOLDIER Sephiroth was defeated and sent physically into the lifestream ()who eventually ended up in the crater) by Shinra MP Cloud after Sephiroth went nuts in his hometown and gravely injured Zack and Tifa. This is MY theory. If WEAPON had actually focused on Sephiroth, without the intervention of Shinra: 1) Cloud and Co. would never have been able to reach the crater on time. 2) Cloud would have never given the black materia to Sephiroth, allowing him to unlock his ultimate form. 3) The WEAPONS would have all decimated the whole crater, including Sephiroth's recovery cocoon, with him in it. After which, they probably would have either focused on destroying all Mako reactors, then become dormant once more. All this, of course, provided that my understanding of the main FVII timeline is correct. What do you think?
Weapon was summoned by the planet to protect it from danger to its life. When they were first born that was only Jenova because the humans then couldn't do anything to really harm the planet. When the WEAPONs were reactivated from their long slumber, there were multiple threats to the planet. Sephiroth, Midgar and anywhere there was a mako reactor. WEAPON was in an obvious state of confusion on who to focus on because of it. One of the lines from Rufus was "There have been so many attacks lately." Likely from Ultimate and Sapphire. Possibly from Emerald shooting from the sea. Evidence of their confusion is seen in Ultimate who goes to many locations and charges an attack above the area, north crater, Midgar, Cosmo Canyon(for plot convivence) Mideel, etc. This confusion is what kept them from organizing. Diamond went to the nearest threat which was Midgar. I have no doubt it would have gone for either fort condor or northern crater next if it had survived. As for Cloud not giving the black materia to Sephiorth, WEAPON wouldn't have reactivated without that happening. They don't wake until the black materia is with Sephiroth. I think you have a valid point though.

This is an awesome idea! My take on it is slightly different - we don't know the power output of the cannon in Junon, let alone that of Midgar. Cloud's party wasn't able to defeat Diamond WEAPON even with KoTR as it simply turns around and continues lumbering toward Midgar. I don't think Sephiroth could've taken it. Taking into account the Remake showing us how he moves and not having the ATB cloud (no pun intended) our perception of his fighting style, I think he could have dodged Aire Tam Storm. All together, though? I think the WEAPONs would have beaten him. Of course, we have no idea yet how the mysterious Sephiroth from Remake would fair (no pun intended) since he may have tons of experience and power we don't yet know about.

Sapphire going down like a punk was annoying. Would be cool if they made sapphire more interesting in the final game. I just hope all of the weapons are in the game. I'm nervous considering how much is left in the story for the final game. If it's a remake, way too much to cover in 1 game at the way they are making the games. If they just branch off like crazy, they are going to piss people off. Thinks I expect in the final installment: all the weapons, knights of the round, underwater exploration, the space stuff, a chapter playing as a Rufus. They've built him up as an actual character vs the original so I want to get a play as him

Safer Sephiroth has way more than 9,999 HP when you fight him (max 400,000), so Aire Tam Storm wouldn't be able to one-shot him.
