Renowned submersible designer Graham Hawkes and co-pilot Lee Behel go on a surreal adventure in the DeepFlight Super Falcon submersible. Using their hydrophones and their wits, our intrepid explorers cruise the underwater valleys of Hawaii in an attempt to capture a whale song. The DeepFlight Super Falcon submersible was designed, built and operated by Hawkes Ocean Technologies (deepflight.com).

The whole deep flight project is amazing when you think about it. A series of vehicles built not for the acquisition of wealth or for war but for the sole purpose of scientific gain. Pretty inspiring stuff.

Trying to work out if how quickly we are killing our environment, how to stop this, finding cures for people dying from horrific diseases, Eradicating malnutrition, ect. Lets solve some of the problems we have on earth instead of pumping hundreds of billions into pointless manned space missions.

Yeah it's a sad truth, don't get me wrong I love the idea of maned space flight and it's the future, but at the moment with the current budget we can do better science without people.

I haven't Been able to watch one single GoPro video and not cry,, the world is so wonderful and full of adventure and beauty, I'm just in total awe
I wanted to hear some Whale song without the other music, but that's fine. Also, I had the biggest aha! moment towards the end of the video... I was moved, almost teared. Did you see what they did at the end? It was beautiful. They were being the whale, jumping out of the water. Truly, truly magnificent cinematography.

Funnily enough, the designer of these types of subs (the pilot in the clip, Graham Hawkes) is claustrophobic as well, which is why everything he designs always has those bloody great big acrylic domes to wrap around your head for 360 degree vision.

We've all seen the skydiving, skiing, motorcycle riding, etc., but we rarely see any vids that show off the camera's low-light capability. This is the best I've seen, plus the video production itself is beautiful.

This is so beautiful. They are taking a simple advert for a product and taking it to a whole new level. GoPro is transcending brand with this video, it is effectively known as more than just an expensive camera. It is now the Kleenex of digital cameras. And that's just fine by me.

Your emotions have been manipulated by stirring music and slow motion shots, to get an emotional response that is completely innapropriate. If you just watched the raw footage without the music and slow mo, you would barely be touched at all. Its how clever marketing people and Hollywood work.

For those asking about the final song, it's "Big Things" by Rhian Sheehan. It also sounds very much like Eluvium's "Prelude for Time Feelers". The latter is a far better song!

Such a beautiful video! This video really marks some magnificent changes over the past 50+ years for all underwater lovers. I am sure Jacques Cousteau would be so proud that his initial drive to capture the beauty of the ocean with the underwater camera designed by Jean de Wouters has come this far. :-)

Excellent. Reminiscence of jurassic park, when the song hit the climax, coincides with the whale using its flippers to say hi to the submarine.
These videos/projects are absolutely stunning. It's hard to not be moved by my emotions when I watch these videos. Started with the 'Red Bull Stratos' video, and moved to this one. The Production studio for GoPro is absolutely destroying my emotions.

Since US Submarines, and probably others, are and have been in Hawaiian waters for years he's not the first there either. I understand he's excited and thrilled and it's a cool video, was just stating he is not even close to the first. I've listened to them many times and that was YEARS ago.

The deepflight operates much more smoothly than they were acting at start. I've seen plenty of stuff where people just dive no prep.
