I really love this transition from puppets to justice, they changed from punk outfit to pure metal and Hetfeild had finally turned to the roaring lion!!
this is back when Metallica was the undisputed heavy metal champions of the world...and it's their "best" song...this song changed the music industry. It has Mustaine's spider chord in it and you can hear part of the riff in Holy Wars. So glad I got to see them several times, on Ride the Lightning and MoP, Monsters of Rock and Justice....the "black" album was the end for me.
@iamericwhite So... What's your point? They made this song in 84 and are played it 3 years later in concert. They always play some of their older songs at their concerts. They STILL play seek and destroy and they made that song in 1982!!
This is the last time they performed this song for 16 years until 2003. This is also the last time Jason Newsted performed this song. Even though he just joined the band
"I hung with them at Long Beach arena and helped them flyer the shit out of the parking lot before and after Maiden wow what a flash back" is this true because that is fucking awsome!!!!!!!!!
ofcourse, they had to play it, but im referring to permanent songs in setlists, such as seek and destroy, creeping death, for whom the bell tolls or master of puppets, you know they are going to play those but after the ride the lighnting tour, they barely played in the masterstour and they didnt play it at all for like 16 years (maybe once or twice, not documented). The point is that it is a great song, better than fight fire with fire or call of ktulu and the dont play it nearly enough
well ride the lightning didnt make it into the setlists of their concerts since the release of puppets until like 2002, its only resently being included again. The thing is that yeah they almost never play fight fire with fire but relative to its quality, they play RTL to little compared to the quality of the song. Hopeu undersand what im trying tyo say
I was able to see them with Dave M in the band I think they would've been a completely different band if he stayed. That's not meant to say they're not great without him. With cliff they were a much heaver it seemed. I hung with them at Long Beach arena and helped them flyer the shit out of the parking lot before and after Maiden wow what a flash back
@KeeGay13 Erm...Good Sir, please type in english for my videos as most of my fans and viewers are probably American. Don't get me wrong I'm sure you typed something awesome, but I can't read it myself LOL.
@dani1928 @dani1928 (continued) but I listened to them myself and I see nothing bad. I like it. I don't see Metallica as just a band, I see them as Musicians. And I think it's great when a musician experiments with something new.

Metal has changed much since then, that is still better than todays shit.
I'm still just stunned this upload got 100,000+ views. I couldn't have done it without the fans from around the world!
I'm watching new Metallica concerts, everything is so slow and passionless...
now 1987, that's Metallica!!!!
Man, this is the first clear performance of Jason in this song
Uh dude...ALL of 1984-1985 RIDE was in their setlists I swear to god, Ktulu and Fight Fire are over shadowed by Ride and Bellz and Fade
"YOU GUYS GOT THE SECOND ALBUM!!!!" JAMES' GOT THE MOST MANLY VOICE IN ALL OF METAL...
love the solo in this song as well as all the solos in trapped under ice. my 2 fav songs on this album
Man these guys ruled the world back in the day. Love this old school "TALLICA"
This needs more views, this should most certainly been seen by every Metallica fan!

Astonishing performance
i wish the video would have shown james reaction to the shirt on stage cuz usually he says somethin funny as hell when somethin like that happens
no podia esperar menos de metallica, el mejor de todos :)
Now that's the proper way of mixing bass !
possibly the best thrash metal song EVER
There must have been some crazy mosh pits in there...
And amazing how the main riff got a surf rock flavour cuz the bass was so loud lol :D
@iamericwhite So... What's your point? They made this song in 84 and are played it 3 years later in concert. They always play some of their older songs at their concerts. They STILL play seek and destroy and they made that song in 1982!!
i love how kirk hits the solo like... every time
this is the way ride the lightning should be played!!!!!!!!!
it's a shame the way they play this awesome song nowadays.... so sad :(
God, watching him play that solo gave me chills. Theres a reason this song wasn't put into guitar hero.
Good God...75,000 views...you guys are just incredible!
Flawless Solo!
awsome,ride the lightning,my favorite song
very cool the song!
I think it's mainly because there's like no live footage of them playing this in the 80's. Btw thank for this footage. Great audio quality actually
Jason's bass

i wish james had he same voice as this from today
damn, he played that solo even faster too and NAILED IT!
they say they barely play this song because dave mustaine workd on the first part of the solo, so each time they play it they owe him royalties.
now that you think of it, the chair does look like a plug! nice eyes man :]

Awesome!
well ride the lightning didnt make it into the setlists of their concerts since the release of puppets until like 2002, its only resently being included again. YES!!!
I was able to see them with Dave M in the band I think they would've been a completely different band if he stayed. That's not meant to say they're not great without him.
