Great piece of driving, when the rear wheels got loose, he pedaled, shifted into high gear, gathered the car back up and was on the throttle in less then a second and only lost what, a few 100ths of a second, maybe a 10th? Tach check at the end of the run was right on the line, 8k Love watching good drivers do their thing!
Just for clairification the oil isn't a normal occurance. We're making 31lbs of boost and some oil managed to find its way out. We had the valve covers sealed up tight by the next pass. Thanks for watching!
Dumb question: His right leg was bent most of the time. Does he step on the gas pedal like you would a road car? I’ve been wanting to see a GoPro like this for a long time.......AWESOME!
Nope, no roof hatch, car never had one, late 80's early 90's was the first I remember seeing roof hatches. The car does have a fire bottle system. The driver would either have to climb out through the side or wait for Safety Safari to lift the body. Kirk Johnson nostalgia. Look at the shape of the body and lack of windows. Also there is a distributor in the block. Not a front mounted magneto like a tafc

Take your time getting him out of there, that truck should have been at the end waiting on him, thank God he didn't have a Fire 🔥 or wrecked out, training day's again for your crew,, y'all can get coffee later,, 😕

That drag racing type of steering wheel that's been used forever is really stupid and hazardous! Why the hell doesn't NHRA allow a slightly bigger circular "quick-disconnect type" steering wheel that would make it easier to control drag race cars, both Funny Cars and Top Fuel. 🤷

Wrapping your legs around a transmission powered by a engine like that must be terrifying. Must have one hell of a scatter cage to protect your legs
SFI trans case and some prayers...
Trick titanium scatter shield
They dont have a transmission. Only a break stick and a forward/reverse lever under the legs.
@@babygoon25hrs you can clearly see the transmission. Even op said it’s an sfi rated case
@@babygoon25hrs it has, you can hear it shift, op said there is
Amazing how much steering he actually does on the way down the strip.
That’s a funny lookin’ car
Half the horsepower in that engine is spent carrying the weight of John Troxel's balls. Holy $hit...
That's how I go pick up my pizza.
pizzafrenzyman - now, that must be some mighty good tasting pizza 🍕!
No car like a Mopar.
When that engine blows it will be one hell of a vasectomy
Old school distributor in the back hemi?
Awesome!
Two speed Lenco ?
Looks way sketchy to be stradling a trans tunnel in something like that. These guys have balls!
They only have balls until the transmisssion blows
Dumb question: His right leg was bent most of the time. Does he step on the gas pedal like you would a road car? I’ve been wanting to see a GoPro like this for a long time.......AWESOME!
Yes he does have a foot throttle.
How start that engine
With an aircraft starter on the blower pulley.
what transmission?
clutch-packs, funny cars and top fuel cars slip the clutch
How do you get out / get the body open in an emergency?

What trans are you guys running? I've never seen that shifter in the middle setup before.
no transmission. they use multiple clutch-packs and slip the clutch all the way down the strip
@@Jeb4100 There is still a transmission, just no gear changes.
@@craigd2599 looks like a 3 speed(th400) or I could be wrong
Yep, that proves it. You have to be crazy...…………………….
Can someone explain to me how the guy revs the engine and launched
Duane is right on. Sometimes we leave on an idle others on the brake at about 3500rpm.
No HAANS Device?
We use the Simpson version, it's a little smaller than the Haans but same concept.
No blower bag and no high rev launch, really a TAFC or some local nostalgia thing?
