Office Depot Racially Profiled My Son For Buying Multiple Epson Sublimation Printers/ 911 Call

- 😲🥹Oh my gosh y’all my 21 year son was just racially profiled at this Office depot store #6437 and #434 for the first time in his life! Can y’all imagine how scared he was calling me saying 2 police officers just blocked his car in the parking lot asking him if he had a gun on him??? I am fcking livid!!!!!!!🤬🤬🤬🤬
So mind you we have been buying our printers from Office depot for every sublimation class we have… and we spend well over $2,000 to $5,000 to give these printers to my students for giveaways. So since I am pregnant and on bed rest, I told my son to go out to buy 5 sublimation printers for my students for my upcoming Class since i can’t leave the house.
And he said that he went into the Office Depot store at
1155 Mount Vernon Hwy #434

bought the printers with his own bank card with his name on it that matches his id and left. Then he proceeded to go to the next office depot nearby

to buy 3 more printers…but this time when he came outside to put them in his car… 2 police cars had his car blocked in and ranned up on him.
They asked for his id, started patting him down asking did he have a gun. Are you fcking serious??? 🤬🤬🤬 He told them no and then they looked into his car and seen the printers and said “Yep this our guy.” So when my son asked what was going on they told him that Niesha at Office Depot store and another associate from the first store called the police on him immediately after he had just checked out.. claiming he stole the printers! She gave him his description and even his car description.
So my son started explaining hisself to the cops and even showed them the receipts. That’s when they started grilling him asking “Well why do your mom need all these printers?” “What kind of business do your mom even have to need all these printers?” Like what the fck! Y’all this could have went totally fcking left all because of some sublimation printers!!😲😡😡😡🤬🤬
And why did y’all have to pat him down asking do he gave a gun? Have y’all never seen a black young boy buy more than one fcking printer, who’s mom is a successful black woman, that needs the printers to teach other black business owners how to start a fcking business!!!????? l
We have called the store numerous of times and they are apologizing like crazy fck that! My son could have been in jail or even worse he could have been gone and I would have been receiving another phone call instead! My son has not ever been in trouble with the law let alone ever been pulled over so I can imagine how scared he was.
So now the store are lieing saying they don’t know who called the police! We have also called corporate to file a complaint and they said they would call us back within 24 hours to tell us what can be done next, and tomorrow we will be going to the police station to see what 2 cops was it that pulled my son over!
We will not fcking sweep this under the rug Office depot and trust and believe our voice will be heard! Can y’all please share this post because I want everyone to see that no matter how successful you are, we still live in a world today where black folks ain’t even safe to buy printers to grow their business!!!!! Sorry y’all but i’m trying not to raise my blood pressure while typing this!
But I feel hopeless as a parent, as a mom, to know that my son experienced racial profiling for the first time in his life and I wasn’t their to protect him! 🥹 I just thank God it didn’t go left but babbyy Office depot y’all will not get away with this!
Take them printers back for a full refund and purchase somewhere else.
The person who called from the other store as well as the the lost prevention need to all be fired.
I’m glad your son is not hurt, and I hope you took those printers back to the store and you went somewhere else to purchase your printers. I don’t know, but looking at your videos you are a hardworking woman and you’re about your family. Do what you gotta do to protect yours.

Absolutely disgusting! The employee should be fired and charged for making a false police report. Nothing was stolen from their location and no cause for them to make the call at all. The employee at the other store needs to be held accountable as well for falsely calling ahead to “warn about him” if he had clearly purchased the printers and had receipts. I am so angry to hear the caller say “doing what they do… using a bogus card” 1. Who is “they” and secondly how can you assume that the person can’t pay for them? This is so upsetting on so many levels. So sorry he had to experience this but I’m glad that you are able to utilize your reach to get this noticed because this was wrong.
EXACTLY! Who is “they” and the other store had no business alerting any other office deposit considering he PAID FOR THE OTHER PRINTERS. A their doesn’t pay shit ish…I’m pissed.

The caller made an assumption that the guy was walking out the store, immediate profiling. He thought the young man was stealing at his store, if you listen to the call you will hear him begin to hesitate when he saw the young man paying for the items and then this is when he starts to change the story to say that the other store reported it.

All of them need to be fired. The caller lied. You should get an attorney and file a lawsuit against them for discrimination. The attorney who takes all these cases is who should reach out to. Office Depot is a huge company.

This is absurd that your son has to experience this type of treatment. Your son paid for the printers and I would file a lawsuit for sure! Do not let this slide this is unacceptable!!!! The profiling is real!!! He could have gotten your son harmed based on the verbiage he deliberately used on this call.

The caller is taking the word of someone at another store. She sounds like she's black. Misha didn't use common sense. He has receipts from both stores. There's no excuses for their behavior. They need to be sued , only way their going to learn.

And it was a black woman that's in the middle of it all and could of took the situation into account and difused everything but noooo...this is the definition of racial profiling, black people buy printers but not at a large proportion so when a young black male with dreads and a hoodie purchased them and was not the stereotypical purchaser they jumped to conclusions and racial profiled him and the craziest thing of it all was HE HAD A RECEIPT!!!! You must be ignorant! They clearly said that his card declined at the other store and he walked out with the products. This is called theft where I come from!! Nothing to do with racial profiling!! Secondly, she never said the person on the phone profiled him, it was clearly the first store he went to, and the police who profiled him. And what makes you think that a person of one race can’t racially profile a person of the same race? If you’ve never met or come across an uncle ruckus, then you need to experience more life before you comment and call somebody else stupid...and if you don’t know who that is idk what to tell you. yes and we have contacted a lawyer so they can get those videos which will make our case even that much stronger. My son has never had to steal
