  • PVC pipe/fittings/conduit can be softened by heating. So heating with a heat gun, we can make our own dust collection fittings.
    When PVC is heated, softening starts at approximately 250 degrees F, material becomes viscous at 350 degrees F, material carbonizes at 425 degrees F.

    This video gives you the gift of possibilities with PVC pipe. It's up to you to take and run with it as you see fit. Thanks for a great demo!👍

      And the good news is that pvc is non toxic and environmentally friendly and doesn’t release plasticizers and toxic chemicals 😁

    I gazed into the darkness of the universe and asked “Can’t I just heat up PVC and force it onto the top of my vacuums caster wheels?”, low and behold the universe replied, “You sure can, bud.”

    Nice to see a quick demonstration of how hot PVC can be stretched to other size parts easily. Displaying some questionably unsafe practices though. Some facts about the temperature setting on your heat gun, size and thickness of the pipe, and how long to bring the plastic up to a bendable temperature would have been helpful.

    u saved my life, is this water tight and air tight? thanks what is the max psi it can withstand before popping off? or do u use adhesive?

    Is PVC food safe? I'd like to make a straight PVC pipe and make it into a spiral to fit a 5 gallon bucket. It will be used for gardening to airate water. But just don't want stuff to leech into the water.

      yes, but some adhesives aren't so make sure you get the right kinda of silicone sealant

    I’m guessing you don’t have the extension tube for the vac? Use the smaller end to stretch the pipe over and the fitting will be straight instead of kinked

    This work the same on clear PVC?

    I hope you are not too busy to answer a question. About How long does it take to heat 3" drain pipe and is thermal coupling an option? Im certain it depends on what heat gun is used.

      Drain pipe might be abs not PVC. I don't know the answer to your question either way, but just be aware that ABS might work differently than PVC.

    So, according to this video, the way to soften pvc with a heat gun, is to turn on the heat gun and aim it at the pvc. Got it.

    Cool stuff. Don't worry I'm not a RUclips jerk saying things like - you could just spend $400 on a PVC oven lol.

    If I have a 2000w gun, help me out lol, how long would I hold it to a spot to be able to break it open.
    Idea: I can make my own garden tower with this idea & a heat gun. 😁

    Will this work on 6 inch pipe if I’m trying to shrink it down so 6 inch flex hose will fit

    • @fearlessdoer
      @fearlessdoer  4 года назад +1

      I think it's doable with 6 inch hose clamps to shrink the PVC, or making your own moldings after heated. 6" PVC is thinner, but I still doubt if you can change its diameter only by hands.

      @spkendrick 4 года назад

      fearless doer ok, i was thinking heat it up and use 6 inch clamps to sink it to the size of the 6 inch flex hose. And your right by hand wouldn’t get it, the hose clamp would allow consistent sizing ... especially if I’m tightening it with a drill

    • @dirtyaznstyle4156
      @dirtyaznstyle4156 3 года назад

      @@spkendrick lol smarter to start with 5” heat it and stretch it over something 6” in diameter. You can’t heat pvc to reduce the size because like you say it’ll be uneven because you can’t redistribute the material into a smaller space very easily.
