You did a great job with this video. I have a cabin not far from Port Jervis. So I drive past it all the time. I would love to invest in this town one of these days and help improve this community and help preserve its history. Thank you for doing your part.
@@LocalNYhistory I mean the amount of people that flood is now because they daw the hawks nest on ig or whatever. The take up the entire road completely disregarding actual traffic so they can get there picture. And don't get me started kn the trash. They(not everyone but alot) leave garbage everywhere. Ans when they take a river trip they sink all the glass ans cans. Making it polluted and unuseble. Ans by unstable I just mean you literally walk down a shallow part of rhe Delaware and if you don't wear shoes you will get cut.
The man. Its in Jervis library amoung other places. he was also interviewed on the history channel for the erie canal - Modern Engineering marvels@@LocalNYhistory
Port Jervis was completely platted, engineered & named by the D&H canal company from the site of 3 farms, Church was Magheckemeck - there wasn't town. First 1825 hamlet of Port Jervis, 1854 Village of Port Jervis & 1907 City of Port Jervis. Monticello is pronounced "Montie-sello" & the railway was Port Jervis & Monticello Railway - later incorporated with NY Ontario & Western railroad. Stephen Crane's brother was a first hand witness to attempting preventing the lynching of Robert Lewis. Im a local historian.
7:25 im a volunteer at the museum at port and i just wanna say that our turntable is not the largest in the us but only the largest operating one on the east coast there are others that are much larger

Very cool, and what do you mean about social media ruining it? I mean, isn't this social media? haha

Thanks for the exposure though, and great video!
Very cool imagery. Did you use AI?
They're not Delaware"s. Try Lenni Lenape
Nice job. I have a summer home about 20 miles from Port Jervis.
That AI crap does NOT help in any way.
BTW, just across the river is the homestead of Charles Sanders Peirce
