Wes Gordon's Resort 2024 collection for Carolina Herrera was a celebration of color, elegance, and strength. The collection, which was inspired by the vibrant culture of Rio de Janeiro, featured a variety of pieces, from bold evening gowns to tailored suits to intricate cocktail dresses.
Gordon used a bold color palette and exuberant prints throughout the collection. Some of the standout pieces included a mango-yellow gown with voluminous sleeves draped to resemble flowers, a cotton eyelet bralette and matching ball-skirt in a fantastic shade of acid green, and an orange crochet tank top and matching skirt worn by Isabeli Fontana.
There were also sporty separates in summer-light twill and a terrific short suit in a herringbone-patterned corded twill that looked like seersucker. Another standout was a mosaic-pattern floral used on a flirty, strapless A-line mini dress.
Gordon's laidback approach to the collection extended into his own process. When the mill sent him a strike-off of all the different colors they were proposing, he decided to use them all.
The models walked down the runway barefoot, carrying their shoes in their hands and with genuine smiles on their faces, even as it rained all around them. This perfectly captured the essence of the Carolina Herrera woman: elegant, but strong, and ready to have a good time-no matter the elements.
