The first guy wasn’t the most knowledgeable guy but he played the game so well in how he used his lifelines and narrowed down his answers on questions he wasn’t sure.

Agree. I never watched once Meredith took over the show!! Tegis did an excellent job. This was an interesting game show.

Regis was the best host for millionaire I like Chris Harrison & I think Meredith viera did a good job hosting millionaire too but I think Regis was the best of all time
Sad twist: If ABC hadn't overexposed the show and stuck with, say, a Sunday night timeslot, it could probably still be popular.
that's what ITV did from the 13th series of the UK version on August 31, 2002. the UK version stucked with a Sunday Eve/Sat-nite timeslot until series 27 in 2010.

I knew it was 71% since High School 15 years ago. I could not believe that 2 people (if out of 100 audience members) thought it was 25%.
i think they liked to give contestants a bit of a shot before they throw the sink at them, because it builds the drama of the show for them to make it far. they gave george, an italian guy, a sopranos question, and julie an aspiring music artist that absolute nirvana softball of a question.

I can't believe how easy US questions are (or at least were back then). In Russia, you could only win a million roubles back then, which was around $30k, but even pre-thousand roubles questions were harder in Russia than post-$32k questions in the US. Insane!!

I attended a taping of the show back in New York City on October 30th 2001... The weird thing is I can actually remember two of the questions asked on the episode .. and there is a point of the episode where I can actually be seen briefly on TV lol
