Just got the Sony AX6000 installed. When I look up my truck for the maestro it only gives me 1 option and it’s for the steering wheel controls. Is this because that is all that is available for my vehicle? It is 2013 Toyota Tundra thank u Crutch!!!!

Great radio choice! Did you use the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR and wiring harness specific to your vehicle? Did your truck come with factory nav or JBL?

@@crutchfield I am not too sure that is why I am asking. Had a shop install the radio and not sure if they are trying to hustle me or not but my Maestro does not work and neither does my steering wheel controls. They keep asking if I want “METRA steering wheels controls installed” and I tell them no I don’t want them, I want the “MAESTRO steering wheel controls installed”. they tell $189 for the Metra but then $480 for the Maestro. Basically feel like I’m getting hustled. My truck is base model tundra. No JBL system. No Navigation from factory.

If you got the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MSW interface, then it will only give you steering wheel radio control options as that is the only ability this particular interface can give a vehicle. It can be found here:
      www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_794ADSMSW/item.html
There is a different iDatalink interface that when used as the main interface to install a radio like that Sony, it can give a lot of extra abilities beyond a basic radio installation. This one is the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR interface found here:
      www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_794ADSMRR/item.html
The ADS-MRR unit needs a wiring harness to work in a compatible vehicle. Here is the harness needed for your Tundra:

I admire your hard work in putting these videos together. Mekebe M6 Pro Plus 8 + 128 for a Hyundai Sonata or YF 2013. The 9.5 Host Device DOESN'T have the proper LOOM and CANBUS to my car, that I can tell. I have MYFIRSTECH IDATALUNK MAESTRO THR-HK5 with the COMPUSTAR DC3 MODULE and an X1 MAX DRONE. They're supposed to talk to the onboard computer or the Obd2, which allows the steering wheel and AC controllers, and everything else in the car to unlock the doors roll down and up windows, and all kinds of other stuff. In theory, do you think this can bypass the standard loom and CANBUS? The big name brands like Kenwood Pioneer Sony use these. The big question would an image show up on this 2k head unit? Unrelated question can Dash cameras display a image on an Android screen? Or will only ADAS DVR cameras display an image on the android screen?

Sometimes, the iDatalink MRR modules can be used in vehicles as part of a universal radio installation which does allow it to work with more radios and provide wires like the reverse gear trigger, etc.. But iDatlink does not list your radio or its manufacturer as a company they work with which means their interfaces may not be able to "speak" the new radio's language. This means iDatalink may not be able to get steering wheel radio controls working with that radio. Also, we need to check if the MRR modules can be used as part of a universal radio installation in the vehicle. Are you saying that you are working on a 2013 Hyundai Sonata? If you are working on a Sonata, which sub-model is yours?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Год назад +1

That's the module that gets programmed for the vehicle its being installed into and the new radio. There are two versions of them and since your 2013 Sonata Limited system that has an amp, the ADS-MRR2 module must be used as it is the only one advanced enough to work with that stock amp. It can retain other things like the stock backup camera and provide all the extra wires that a touchscreen radio could need (reverse gear wire, parking brake wire, and vehicle speed sensor output). It can also provide an illumination output for radios that use this for an automatic dimmer ability. If its being installed with a new radio that can learn steering wheel radio control commands, it can also adapt the buttons to operate the new radio.

Hi Darren. I just installed the Maestro RR with a Pioneer compatible head unit into my 2016 F150. Upgrading from the 4" sync screen to a 7". Pretty much everything went well. I may have to go back and reflash the unit. Unless you are aware of something else I may have forgotten, I may have inputted the wrong info regarding the climate controls, because they do not work. I'll be looking at all connections today before reflashing.
My main reason I am commenting is that I am slightly colour blind. Yeah, so making some the wire connections was a bit of a task. I figured them out but I had to have a family member confirm the connections. Can I suggest labeling the wires with a number, as well as the same number shown on the information sheet? I can't be the only one who has struggled with this. Obviously the radio manufacturer would have to do the same thing.
Just an update on the climate controls. So I went and disassembled the climate controls looking to see what I had done wrong. Reviewed the instructions again while taking disconnecting the ribbons. So the instructions say to have the black side up when installing. This is incorrect. When they are installed black side up, they are not making contact. So I reran the ribbons, starting with the first connection as having the black side down. And then the final connection would follow suit. And the climate controls now work.
So the instructions need to be rewritten so others don't think they have done something wrong as well. But the upgrade works great.

Hi there and thanks for your question! In some vehicles, the overall iDatalink Maestro package will make connections to retain a factory back-up camera, but that is vehicle-specific. If you are looking to upgrade your receiver, we can always check for camera retention.
If we can help further, feel free to reach out any time!

Sometimes, that can work to get the radio installed and depends entirely on the vehicle. If you do list a different brand radio, then any steering wheel radio controls that the vehicle may have will not be kept working with the new radio.

We checked your vehicle to make sure that the ADS-MRR module was able to be used with any radio including the ones that do not have an iDatalink port on them. It will which means that you can choose a different radio and that you may want to deselect the option to retain steering wheel radio controls since that is not expected to work when listing a different radio brand from the one you want to install.
