I think he is advocating for all to be accepted as normal the same way straight people don't have to walk around declaring they are hetero. Realize you are extremely attracted to your bestfriend in your teenage years and now think you are Bi. Get let down by men so often that consoling females make you wonder if you are Gay only to finally to accept you are Demi as an explanation as to why you love both sexes. First of all, thank you for all that you do. I very much wish that same-sex love was not frowned upon nowadays. That we would be able to accept and respect each other as we are. Is it just me or has anyone ever watched the movie and think Zayn is Tom and Harry is Patrick. Harry is basically sending the message that no matter how long it takes (until he is old and frail and practically on his deathbed) he will keep waiting for Zayn to finally accept his love. It’s almost like he is telling Zayn that I will keep fighting for us no matter how long it takes. I feel like this may have been the mindset he was in at that moment in time when he made this film but truly wish that he is able to move on and not “waste time” on Zayn. I say this because I dont think Zayn will ever accept his own homosexuality or his love for Harry. Since Homophobia is so deeply rooted in Islam. I love Zayn as much as I love Harry but I don’t want Harry to keep waiting around for Zayn all his life and miss out on a more satisfying life moving on with someone who can accept themselves and him.

At the same time, in this complex context, it is difficult to live a sentimental relationship peacefully. Even just finding a casual partner can't be easy, because you have to be very careful about who you can trust. Fame and success are both a blessing and a curse. Let's not forget that Harry, by his own admission, is pursuing a course of psychotherapy. I think he wasn't totally serene and fulfilled, in many respects, not even at 16-17, when he suddenly became a multi-millionaire international star.
