To live in a small house you've a chance to have a Financial Freedom and to enjoy life. Than paying the huge mortgage for the house. Living in a tiny house at least you can save money and you can travel and to prepare for your retirement while you're still young.

I can see that Vicram is trying to be happy with his accommodation and sound convincing about how hunky dory things are out there. But this is absolutely outrageous. Prison cells are bigger than that, but for some reason someone once thought, that it would be ok to rent a broom closet for the amount of money greater than a salary in so many places even in Europe. The audacity, man. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of very spacious wasteful interiors and I cope perfectly well in my studio apartment, but I am just so appalled by greed taking the world over.

At 73 years old, I can look back on the dozens of places I've lived and made work for me. One apartment had the bathtub in the kitchen and toilet in a closet. Another was a cabin with an outhouse, no running water and no electricity. When you are a positive person, like Vikram, you can find the good in anything. Living is an adventure and the more experiences and challenges you allow yourself, will only enrich your life. What great memories Vikram will have.

So sadly the landlords often rent these places to foreign students / workers who are not aware of the laws

Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum, said, "you will have nothing and you will be happy." People are supposed to be naked and cheerful, completely at the mercy of corporations and servile governments.
Depriving people of cash, introducing a universal digital currency, an account only in the central bank, surveillance of private purchases, preferences and personal lives, or creating a database of all information about each person - these are the next bold steps of globalists striving to rob and enslave humanity. Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum, said, "you will have nothing and you will be happy." People are supposed to be naked and cheerful, completely at the mercy of corporations and servile governments. The World Economic Forum is the forge of globalism, which, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, entered the stage of the "Great Reset" threatening civilization and, consequently, aims to take away our property and freedom. The "New World Order" is born with the support of corrupt politicians, neo-communists, corrupt economists, bankers and all kinds of activists, among whom eco-terrorists are the leaders. Aggressive vegan advocates join them. The idea of the sharing economy, which promotes the idea of limiting private property, is gaining more and more popularity, so that we do not have anything of our own: a house, a car, a washing machine, clothes, etc. Political correctness is supposed to replace common sense. If we break away, they will destroy us in many ways.
The World Economic Forum preaches a mission to make the world happy and this is only masking the plan to incapacitate humanity. The wealthy of this world are no longer satisfied with the money they are unable to consume. Now their egos are driven by a desire to rule the world. An example is Soros, Rockefeller, Trump or Gates. It is inspired by bloody war conflicts, where ordinary people are the cannon fodder and the rich get richer by earning coconuts on the production of armaments and increasing their influence.

I really feel conflicted here guys. I feel outraged, sad, impressed by Vikram, and really upset.
    Positives first tho:
I commend Vikram for keeping a positive attitude and for making the small space work. As a former scholarship student 10 yrs ago that also studied abroad and also lived in student accomodations, I know what burning desire for stepping out of your comfort zone feels like and what sacrifices it takes to be where you are today - hats off!
Now the part I am really upset about:
Do we really want such a steep class barrier to living? Student accomodation shouldn't be a luxury item (yes, I hear you: "But this is in the city centre! That is why it is so expensive!" Why exactly should we upkeep this classist division of urban spaces? What greater right does as investment banker have from a primary school teacher to live in the city centre? Bc he is richer, has a higher education than a teacher with an MA in Education and has the responsibility to educate and instill social values into generations of future citizens? Do we REALLY want that??)
If I was a student today, I would not be able to afford 750€ on RENT ALONE. My students today CAN'T AFFORD that rent. Do we really want steep class barriers to studying? Isn't education, like, something everybody should have as easy as possible access to? Don't we want more highly skilled people in a world that needs expert opinions, more critical thinking and most of all - empathy? Is making due, adapting to these conditions counterproductive, a disservice in the long run for all the students coming to Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, and other cities??
I am not here to poop on VIkram's resilience - resilience is needed when we want to better outselves, but allowing landlords to DEMAND and ACTUALLY GET THE MONEY of a whole stipend's worth for RENT ALONE for a pico-micro-appartment is outrageous and needs pushback from us and the state needs pressure from us to control.
Have a nice day everyone. Eat the rich.
*(by rich I don't mean Vikram, I mean the landlord letting a shoebox for three-quarter of a THOUSAND Euros)

    • @helsinki
      @helsinki 2 года назад +12

Its just supply and demand. Everyone wants to live in the city but there are only so many apartments available. So the price and the size of the apartments are affected. Landlords build smaller apartments to fit more people and the cost gets high because people are competing to get the spaces.

@@helsinki Supply and demand should not be used for rent and home.
A home is not an consumable object, it's a life. A roof on your head.
Millions of people actually don't WANT to work in Paris, they HAVE to. Because job is only there. I have worked in Paris for years, and have to manage with 3-4 hours of travel everyday, because I couldn't rent a flat in Paris, I had to live far. Some people try to live in Paris, and spend a big part of their salary for tiny apartments. But it's not a choice, it's a constraint. And a lot of owners take advantage of it, demanding huge (and often illegal) conditions to the tenants. Especially because the rarity of apartments in Paris is made of speculation. There are a lot of empty buildings in Paris, at least 1 million m2 empty. Those buildings are properties of big companies.
This is the reality of property business. It should not even be a business.
      So, yes, eat the rich.

You do have a point. In my younder days I've stayed at some places in Roma that had a shared bathroom. At my age now I would not and dread the thought of ever having done it. Now I want a 5* hotel :) Loving a 125 m2 country house with huge gardens and a large city apartment - all by myself.

Absolutely Loved the video and amazed by the person. I have few things to say
    1. 4:35 I see what you did there, "I have like a HUGE plant situation in my apartment"
    2. Dude you knocked on the door and offered to talk to that girl is absolutely amazing.
    3. The fact that you can find charger and the product around the street, just makes me want to immediately move to Paris. (Also, take note Apple)
    4. The kind of positivity in this video and this guy really inspired me.
    4. I immediately have a movie plot in my mind.

So many years ago when I was a student in Paris this friend of mine one day was thrilled to find in the street the perfect vacuum cleaner he was dreaming of for his tiny carpeted room. And another one found a modern black metal chair which he arranged with the perfect b/w cushion he bought especially for. Coming from poor countries, we were all so amazed that people threw these items away, they are rich so they renew constantly.

Interesting video! And honestly the apartment is really nice for a 9m2. I live in France but not Paris. One thing I’d mention is really be careful picking stuff up off the street, especially in a big city like Paris. You could bring in bed bugs or other bugs/pests!

In the past, these rooms were occupied by servants, while property owners had large apartments in the same building. 10 years ago few mates and I visited a friend who lived in similar place very close to the Eifel tower. I remember having a bath in such tiny shower and 3 of us sleeping on airbed (one snoring pretty badly). But nobody cared - we were young, had a place to stay and had awesome time in Paris. This video brought back some good memories, thx for sharing.

If I was at his position, I would get an apartment and share it with a housemate or share a room with 1 or 2 housemates depending on how big the room is. I already did this when I was at University. I would then spend my days working hard in the libraries/study rooms to get a job and spend the rest of the day in the gym to improve focus and wellbeing and clear my mind. The place shown in the above is not for everyone and as much as they keep saying it feels like a home, it honestly feels claustrophobic.

Having your own shower is a lot better then some of these micro apartments, which I feel like it’s more intimidating to share then a toilet. Also only sharing the toilet with one other apartment and the cleaning is part of your rent. That is way better then any of the New York apartments tours like this I’ve watched, where the entire floor shares the toilet!!!

( born and raised in france ) I wish I had a place like this when I lived in Paris. The price is about what you could reasonably expect.
You have a killer view and a rather comfy setup, in a nice district. The only painpoint would be the toilets, but frankly every student that I ever met in Paris had these.
It's called " Chambre de bonne" / "maid's room" because we used to store maids in there.

I love views but I would never trade dignity and a minimum of comfort for a stunning view. The view is not going to repair my clothes that get damaged with vapor and smell of food cooked so close. It's nice to see that someone is so positive about this, and maybe this is better than other precarious living spaces but that's not a reason we should be celebrating this.

These tiny studios were once used as maids quarters in these grand buildings. My grandmother was a concierge and she had her own small apartment on the ground floor near the main ornate entrance. Then the next door was the service entrance where the maids and service people used. The apartment also came with a maids quarter apt. like this as a bonus. It was way bigger than this one and a full bed and armoire inside. The view was spectacular with the Eiffel Tower right in the center. It was also on top floor of this luxurious building with chimneys and slanted roofs. I will always remember the pink toile wallpaper and having only 1 bathroom to share with an entire floor of mostly vacant maids rooms.

Probably this type of housing will not work here in Russia, here you need to additionally stock up on storage space for winter clothes, winter shoes and a warm blanket. It is also important for me where to dry clothes after the washing machine, we dry on the balcony.

I think for a student or single person this apt is great, and for €750 utilities included to live in central Paris is a very good deal. You can walk everywhere so public transport isn’t a necessity. In NYC or London you would have to spend a lot more to get a private place on your own, or live outside the city center. Plus, when you’re a young student, you spend your time enjoying the city and only using your apt to crash at the end of the night.
