13:09 so in Stalker: Call of Chernobyl, there is an anecdote about one particular anomaly that pick up, tear apart and yeets up in the lower atmosphere any living being. The anecdote itself ends like this: Dream of idiot come true, he flew away!
My current build in Rimworld is a shunned tribe of surviving savages that, early on, found the means to make one of them a "Speaker for the Machines" - their idea of a Mechanitor - given that it was the angry mechs that came and obliterated their original tribe this man was soon the leader of the remaining survivors of this tribe, and their development rapidly accelerated in a... different way, given the new revelation... the God Machines could become their servants and fight for them! It's decades later now. The colony thrives, carved into two sides of a slim mountain-pass that has only two choke-point entrances, easy to defend... especially when you have, by now, MULTIPLE mechanitors, it's a vast army of warrior-machines manning the walls and defensive choke-points. The colonists are all related - wives of the original leader - who is still around - or wives of his brother, he's also survived this far, or the children of those two progenitors, or the children of those children again, married to various outsides that either joined willingly or were converted from, usually, the other savage groups about the planet, pirates, raider-tribes, the likes. This is a society where life requires war. All are trained in martial abilities, technology is advanced to the point where all members have de-aging, limb-restoring medical pods, we have out own medic-bots, every other tribe-member leads a large host of machines to tend to every need that a colonist don't do themselves, and invaders, raiders, pod-droppers and the likes are little more than opportunistic fodder for organ harvesting, brain-ripping for the manufacture of more advanced machines, or slave-labor that is, until the empire comes by to collect tribute and get a host of slaves from the 4 high-ranking members of their society that just so happen to live here. Drop pods and transport ships are their means to assault and raid nearby settlements for captives and what little loot is still of use. That is, if they don't just bombard said settlements with large numbers of toxic wastepacks - something this high-tech, war-paint using tribe of savages know how to deal with, but most others don't! This usually triggers retaliatory raids that hurl themselves helplessly on the near impeccable defenses and armies of killing-machines. Those that survive join the slave-stock for another rotation of tribute, organ-extraction or brain-ripping. Inevitably this hard-core army of machine-using killers erase settlement after settlement and the planet will inevitably be free of any pirate group, tribe, rogue robot cluster, bug-infestation or other entity that stand in their way. Inevitably perhaps even the Empire will be laid siege to. They might just have the meant to stop these techno-barbarians some time down the line. Perhaps.

nahh its only a war crime if you left any survivors to report it (human leather gang for life )
The Geneva convention is a checklist at worst and a suggestion at best in rimworld
