@@MLaak86 It was not a nitpick, Lazerpig was using wrong information to prove how a tank was bad, didn't cite sources, or even outright lied.
The most notorious one was the optics. The Leclerc and T-14 use completely different sights, even the earlier generation tanks had worse optics.
There are a dozen things that you can use to criticize the T-14 with, but he resorted to lies.

    • @voidtempering8700
      @voidtempering8700 7 месяцев назад +2

@@MLaak86For reference, if I was to criticize the T-14 and rework his video, his final point about the fact that the Russians will never field it in any valuable numbers would go first.
He should also factor in how the gun the T-14 has was supposed to be fitted on the T-90M, but since that never happened it is obvious that they haven't got the gun working either.
I mentioned the sights previously, and although he is wrong on the point that they aren't from old Leclercs, he is right in that when compared to the latest generation of modern Western tanks, they do lag behind.

What I think happened is that the Russians looked at the Merkeva and thought "we can make that" and then proceeded to faceplant the execution in epic fashion.
For example, both tanks share the modular design, with the Markeva having the same frame as the super-heavy Namer IFV/APC (for perspective, it's an IFV/APC that weighs 65+ tons and has its own APS system). Everything Laserpig says about this is true--it is a fuel-hungry monster--however the thing is that Israel is the size of New Jersey and they aren't planning on sending their IFVs far outside their borders. Doctrinally, their armored vehicles can be fuel-hungry monsters, as their supply lines are so short; Russia, on the other hand, can't say this, as their country is huge and they are trying to penetrate deep beyond their supply lines.
Similarly, both tanks have an armored capsule for the crew, with the Merkeva even putting its engine in the front so that a penetrator would need to go through it before it hits the crew. Russia's implementation of this idea is horrifically incompetent though, as they have basically turned their crew compartment into a pressure cooker, which doesn't even have an escape hatch (the Merkeva has a secondary hatch in the back so the crew can dismount safely under fire). It's actually a good idea to have a secondary capsule to protect the crew (eg. the A-10 Thunderbolt also has this around its cockpit), but the Russian implementation of this idea made it into a liability.
Both tanks rely heavily on their APS systems. The main issue here being the fact that the Russian APS doesn't work, while the Israel has two APS systems (the Trophy and Iron Fist), both of which are considered tied for the best in service. The Trophy is so good that the US has installed it on our Abrams, the Germans have installed it on their Leopards, and the UK is trialing it on their Challenger. It's the literal standard for a modern APS.
Both tanks have multiple remote weapons systems, in a similar configuration (but the Merkeva has an additional 50cal on the turret and mount for either a mortar, drone launcher, or 40mm grenade launcher), but the Armata doesn't have redundant controls in case something goes wrong.
In totality, you can kinda see where the Russian designers were aiming to go when they drew up the Armata. They just didn't have the follow-through or funding to actually make anything work.

    • @voidtempering8700

27:26 I was born in the middle of the Second Chechen war then. Obviously here in the states, but you grt the picture.
29:25 Exactly, logistics are how wars are won.
31:32 I was waiting for news of civil war. It took Wagner a single day to take over Rostov while it took them eight months to take Bakhmut and then I heard how there were things happening in the one city about halfway to Moscow. Then nothing came of it and I lost interest a couple days after. I remember eating three or four hotdogs with shredded cheese, ketchup, and Frank's Red Hot on them. It's weird I can remember the food better than how I heard Wagner took Rostov.
1:08:40 I like calling it the Schwarzkopf, after the commander of US forces in Desert Storm. Also, goes to show how good western tank proposals are compared to Russian tanks. The KF51 Panther can, and probably will, wallhack, and the Abrams X can turn invisible, and would likely be used for lightning strike assaults against enemies at night.

This is absolutely crazy to watch when it first came out and sense then war has erupted. I just want to give my two cents to the T-14 in the parade stopping. If you care, you can open up to the paragraphs below.
First and foremost, did the engine break down. For me at least I still classify it as a maybe. I've seen the E break argument, but I don't think that changes it. After the engine going kaput it just makes sense to turn on the E break incase something else fucks up, and someone forgot to disengage it when trying to tow it and people went stupid. If that wasn't the case than the driver fucked up in some way and everyone either incompetent enough or inexperienced enough to not know how to handle it.
So, lets say the engine didn't fuck up like they are known to do and the driver fucked up. Okay, why was someone that inexperienced in it driving it? Okay, that is rather harsh, it could have been nerves, it was an important holiday after all. One with Nazi engines but I digress. So, driver screwed something up and it was so bad that it had to be towed off. Apparently fucking it up SO badly that no one else could figure it out and the higher ups had to come down. Watching the video I most certainly think the E break was on, those tracks weren't moving (That or they picked the weakest fking thing to try and pull it and failed but I doubt that.), but if it was something as simple as E break being turned on then how the fuck did NOONE either know it was on, or know how to turn it off. And if it WAS just the E break being turned on and they realized it. It could have just driven on. But apparently no, it was a showcase of a rescue, a rescue in which they left the fking E break on, which wouldn't have happened if they had noticed it, and couldn't figure that out. That reeks of incompetence if that is the case, but I don't believe the rescue was part of the act. That wouldn't be something you do on your NEW tank. Doing it on one of the MANY T-34's is more likely as anyone could see see one of those things breaking down and is no where near as expensive should something go wrong. Going back. Considering the driver, the one supposedly trained to do it, couldn't figure it out, and if there was anyone else in the tank, THEY didn't know how to do it either, I wonder if that is actually the case of it being JUST the E break. There is the possibly that the E break was turned on then broke or got stuck, but that is still mechanical failure and not exactly a show of good craftmanship.
Best case scenario is the driver was just inexperienced and accidently turned on the E break, and there is no flashing light or something to indicate "Oh hey the E break is on!", which seems like a fking design flaw, and no one could figure it out. Side note, crazy to think that a driver going in a straight line could accidently switch on the E break. Why was it so easy in that case? Apparently so easy that it could have been missed as something you did. So, a case of incompetence or inexperience. Worst case scenario on the other hand is that the engine, or something else, did die and the E break was turned on as a safety measure as was forgotten to be taken off and everyone had a round of stupid.
This is just casual things I've noticed in my watching and reading of many things, but regardless of what happened, someone, somewhere, fucked up.

Ok, found the first bad take: 22:30 if Russia is so desperate why isn't the armata on the front line
Answer: because Russia isn't so desperate🤦‍♂️

      Yeah ok, Audi TDI 2.0 120 HP, t34 500, t72 780, t90 1000+ (for variants), t95 1650, t14 1500.
I'm in the motor pool so don't lie to me😜
The above vid is(n't) pure propaganda, (because you're too smart, ain't ya?)

@@momqabt So when are they going to use it then? Since it's development it's not been seen deployed anywhere. Seems like a waste of time and resources to spend that much on its development just to never use it.

@@manticore117because if they loose even one it will be a colossal embarrassment. I don’t think T14 is nearly as bad as pig wants every one to think it is, but it is also no where near as good as what Russia wants us to think it is.

@@masonyoung2073 Very true. I do find this drama around it quite silly though. Especially the refutations to LP's claims as if they have the absolute 100% true information on it. Which lets be honest, nobody has right now because it's true capabilities are classified. However if we use history as a reference, Russia has a habit of overhyping their tech where the west seems to downplay theirs. Coupled with the fact they refuse to send one of these things in to a fight make their claims about it's ability dubious at best.
